Index Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Mountain & river view, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, spacious 960 sf, sleeps up to 5

Welcome to a comfortable, cozy, and fully equipped cabin at an amazingly beautiful location on the Skykomish River across from the forest and at the base of magnificent 5,979 feet Mt. Index. It is about about a 40-minute drive from Seattle and near Stevens Pass. The property is on a 100 foot high river bank, and the floor-to-ceiling views make it seem the wide river is right outside the windows. You have an up close view of river and forest wildlife in their natural habitat. There is Wi-Fi at Blue River Cabin. The attractive color designs and furnishings, and the oak and pine interior and pastel colors, create a serene and comfortable environment. The private hot tub is perched on the view deck overlooking the river, forested mountains, and big sky. Basking in the warmth of the hot tub with the view of stars and planets at night and amusing river wildlife in the day makes for a memorable experience. Have a unique and wonderful experience enjoying the wonderful nature colors and the fresh and sweet smell and feel of the air. Be amused by the beavers, otters, ducks and eagles and geese, rainbow trout and schools of salmon. We have binoculars so you can see this wonderful display up close, including the river wildlife and the forest wildlife across the wide river. You have your 100 feet of river beach, including a walkway for easy access. Fish from your own riverfront or flyfish for rainbow trout or salmon. Bring an inflatable boat to explore the river and the national forest across the river. At the cabin is printed information and maps about nearby wonderful forest service trails, waterfalls, lakes, rock climbing, horseback riding, kayaking and river rafting, bicycle riding, golfing, historic taverns, and restaurants. You only need to bring your clothes and food. We also provide the coffee/tea/sugar packets/hot chocolate/oil/salt-pepper/ketchup-mustard/tin foil. There is a Swedish wood burning fireplace and electric heat throughout the cabin, a washer/dryer with laundry soap, a hair dryer, an iron for pressing your clothes, board games, satellite TV, WiFi, landline phone, DVD & movies, videocassette player & movies. There is an outdoor propane BBQ, picnic table, and deck furniture. Your small breed dog is welcome. Skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing at nearby Stevens Pass Ski Resort is very popular in the winter months. We welcome you.

Perfect weekend

  • 5 of 5

This cabin made our wedding anniversary extra special! From the breathtaking riverfront view outside to the enchanting fireplace indoors, we could not have asked for more. You will find Rita has thought of every little detail and put alot of heart into making you feel at home. Make sure to take a dip in the hot tub, a cup of coffee on the deck, and skip rocks on the private beach. The Lake Serene trail is also a must, and it's right down the road! I hope this cozy cottage gives everyone the same welcoming feeling we experienced. We will definitely be back! Thank you so much!

Picture post card view, odd layout, great proximety to hiking

  • 3 of 5

Our small family (husband, wife, daughter of 10, and one dog) recently stayed at Blue River Cabin. Rita was a very attentive host but with extensive rules (truly, take notes). We originally chose the property with two features most important to us: the immediate proximity to the river for fly fishing, and the hot tub on the deck. The hot tub did not disappoint. It is beautifully placed, great view, new and clean, our daughter didn't want to get out of it. We learned with the fly fishing, the Skykomish River is closed to fishing for September and October, due to spawning. Research carefully.

The cabin itself has a wonderful siting, two stories set on the bank of the river. The property slopes down on the left to the deck level. The river is reached by stepping over a barrier to take a narrow set of steps down to the bank. It is a 25' or so stretch of beach. The proximity is wonderful, but you will be warned not to step beyond certain boundaries.

Upstairs, the layout is very choppy with two separate seating areas that would be better combined, it isn't comfortable. The kitchen is extremely cramped and poorly laid out. By the second day, I rearranged the small appliances, when I found a second outlet in the bookcase on the opposite side; I had found utensils I needed for cooking, in the corner behind the fridge area. If you are just heating up your food that you bring, and keeping it simple, the kitchen will be fine with a simple rearrangement. Don't plan to truly cook here. If you are a foodie, bring your own oil (there's only canola) and coffee (MJB stocked). Everything however, is meticulously clean and well kept.

The intangible disappointment was feeling separated from the river. Though you can see a beautiful post card picture of it, the front windows don't open, only the sides. You don't truly feel it.

Downstairs are two bedrooms; the front one be a better master, as it faces out to the deck, but with a solid door it feels more like an entryway. The sitting room on the opposite side has a lovely view. The twin beds in this room have thin mattresses, one covered in plastic, only appropriate for small children. The main bedroom is nice, but cave like.

A low beam on the stairs is a constant head banging hazard.

Walking around the neighborhood is odd. Many neighbors are absent, others are far from friendly. On the other hand, hiking nearby is spectacular! Gold Bar has a great cafe with comfort food and lots of pie, Mountain View Cafe

Tranquil & Cozy

  • 5 of 5

Rita's riverfront cabin sure is cozy and peaceful. I loved getting up every morning to a cup of coffee, that tranquil river, and a nice fire in the fireplace. We had some nice meals out on the deck overlooking the river. The hot tub is great for a soak after a day from hiking or to relax under the stars.

The kitchen is adequately stocked with pots, pans, and dishes. If you plan on doing very much cooking, you will want to bring a few herbs spices and olive oil. Definitely bring your own food rather than shop at the grocery in town. There are plenty of towels along with a washer & dryer. The bedrooms are cozy.

Altogether, we had a lovely stay and highly recommend our awesome host, Rita, and her wonderful little cabin. She will go out of her way to make you feel welcome and comfortable.

Thank you for everything, Rita. You're a peach.

From the hot tub to the comfy bed to the wonderful view and serenity it was great. Far enough off the main road but close enough to find a mocha. Rita was a joy to work with and we look forward to returning
