About Mrs Jane Rees-Baynes

Elm Grove has been in the Rees family for 3 generations, having been purchased nearly 60 years ago by Mr J Rees - who is still going strong at 99 years old. The old coach houses were converted into 3 mews cottages, Mews 2 is still available as self catering accommodation. Elm Grove Country House is currently run by Jane & Alan Rees-Baynes and the Mews is run by Mrs Jones (daughter of Mr Rees).

Mrs Jane Rees-Baynes purchased this house in 1958

Why Mrs Jane Rees-Baynes chose Pembrokeshire

Elm Grove is quite unique - it is surrounded by lawns, gardens and 20 acres of fields making it very private. The Mews are based at the rear of the big Country House and enjoy the facilities available within the grounds. The Cottage is spacious with private parking and it is just a 2 minute stroll down the tree lined drive to the village which has 2 pubs, a village shop and park. We are located just 5 minutes drive from Tenby, Saundersfoot and Manorbier where guests can visit the beaches and castles as well as the world famous Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Other attractions from theme parks to cathedrals and castles are within easy driving distance. Anna's Welsh Zoo and Heatherton are just 1 mile from our location.

What makes this house unique

The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is just 3 miles from St.Florence and offers some of the best scenic walking routes in the country. There are also a number of walking/rambling/cycling routes which pass directly through the village.

Well equipped and great location

  • 5 of 5

The cottage itself is a good size and they have thought of everything to make it a home from home, hair dyers, irons and even dressing gowns. We had two small children and were offered cots, high chairs and there were stair gates to use in the house. The location was ideal for us and was a short drive to lots of local attractions and the beach. In the village itself there is a shop, two pubs and a garden centre with cafe, all within walking distance. The only slight negative I can think of is you have to re enter the wifi code every two hours and couldn't always get signal. I would highly recommend staying in this cottage, it's great value for money, the owners are lovely and are onsite if you have any problems.

Cycling

St Florence is also central to a range of cycle routes (including route 4 of the celtic trail) which run through the county. Cyclists can tour the pretty lanes and visit some of the beautiful villages off the beaten track in this part of Pembrokeshire.http://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map?lat=51.67001462255581&lng=-4.714712641308552&zoom=14&route-type=all-routes&filters=

We do have overnight storage areas for bikes if required. The Tour of Pembrokeshire takes place in the county each year and is a challenging event for cyclists.

Wildlife

In the grounds alone guests have spotted 15 different species of bird as well as a growing family of rabbits & squirrels who play among the trees in the orchard, on the lawn and down the drive. Take a look at our garden photo gallery at the top right hand side of the page to see some of our garden residents

Walks in the local area and slightly further afield afford opportunities to see some of our wildlife up close. Some coastal walks have bird hides along the way.
