You won’t want to leave our large beach house, just steps away from the 26th Ave Beach. The 2900 Sq. Ft. and a deck that stretches the length of the house for even more room to soak in the sun, the sounds of the surf, and the oceans breezes.

Relaxing views of Monterey Bay from decks, dining room, kitchen and from living room and master bedroom, both of which have vaulted ceilings. Living and dining rooms have gas fireplaces. Recline on the sofa, or the master suite’s king-size bed and enjoy the ocean view -sail boats by day, colorful sunsets by evening.

Walk the beach and explore the tide pools. Bring your water toys, there’s great surfing, boogie and skim boarding. Sit and watch the sea lions and otters in the nearby kelp beds, or dolphins and whales as they go by. Enjoy our hot outdoor shower to rinse off the sand before jumping into the hot spa.

Ride one of our several bikes for a scenic bike tour along East Cliff Drive to Capitola or north through beaches, the harbor and onto Santa Cruz. Remember to bring you helmets.

I am a 4th generation California. My grandparents owned a home in Santa Cruz, which I used to visit frequently.

Why Jean chose Santa Cruz

We like to think of it as our villa by the sea. It's spacious enough to house our 3 grown children, and a few friends with their younger children.

Being by the beach, the views, the reverse floor plan that allows for great sunset views and entertaining.

The large kitchen where our family and friend are able to create great feasts next to the fireplace.

What makes this house unique

Great views and easy safe access , (no climbing over rocks), to one of the best beaches in the county.

Spacious house with an amazing floor plan. Lots of places to chill out an take a nap or read that captivating book. Two fireplaces to cozy up to or play one of our many board games in front of.

Well stocked kitchen, with double ovens, lots of counter space for a chefs cook-off and a gas grill close by on the deck over looking the ocean. You can ever watch the sails boats go by as you prep for a family feast.

A great deck to enjoy your morning coffee and watch the natural sea life on the bay or watch the surfers getting ready to go down to catch a wave. Or, in the late afternoon, sipping your favorite beverage with friends as you watch the amazing sunsets over the Monterey bay and perhaps catch sight of whales, dolphins or a couple of seals.

There are lots for bicycles in the garage to

choose from, so make sure to bring your helmets. We also have an assortment of boogie boards, wet suits, skim boards, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, sand toys, volley ball and badminton sets, and a tennis table.

This beach house is fantastic

Wow what a wonderful experience staying at the 26th avenue beach house has been. We enjoyed a week long family reunion in concert with my sister's wedding and it has been as warm and wonderful as one could imagine. The home is large and comfortable with a great fully equipped kitchen, nice dining area, big great room with fireplace and plenty of bedrooms and nooks as well. The views are spectacular- your practically right over the beach and the the Monterey Bay is just so picturesque. Really lovely experience this beach house is. I'd definitely recommend this beach house to any family or group who wants to have one of those remember forever experiences.

All the descriptions advertised are accurate. We have nothing to complain about at all. The owner was very helpful- she expressed that she wanted everything to be right for our special occasion and I thought that was very sweet.

This house is a dream house!

This house is a dream house! We decided to celebrate my Aunt's birthday in Santa Cruz this year, what a relaxing vacation. The house has beautiful furnishings with tons of amneties , there are board games and community bicycles and boogie boards all great for keeping the kids busy. There are large windows that give great views of the ocean from most of the rooms on the second floor. The place is fully stocked with anything you might need to make your stay more comfortable. I absolutely love the nautical deco in the dining room. It is a prime location, very quite and peaceful street with a dog friendly beach. My favorite memory was reading my book while laying in the hammock hearing the waves nearby.

Peaceful ocean sounds

Drove up to gated driveway we parked and walked one house over to the ocean. Beautiful quite beach couldn't wait to sit and listen to the waves. Back to the house it was exceptionally clean, and comfortable. A little piece of heaven. Large kitchen equipped with everything we needed to prepare a luxurious meal to eat on a large dining table. Siding glass doors to the outdoor deck wrap around on upper floor and had a lot of room for us to sit. We sat and listened to the ocean we enjoyed that every morning with coffee and nighty with wine. The upstairs bedroom was just stunning, loved falling to sleep to ocean wave sounds(my favorite thing about this trip.) Brochures in kitchen drawer helped us decide were to go out to dinner, many local restaurant's to choose from. I highly recommend this house for couples wanting a get together with friends, or families wanting time together. Loved this place, Cathy M and friends

Fantastic Vacation for Multiple Families

I am a repeat visitor to this beach house. I have stayed at this house at least once a year for the past few years with family and friends, and I have made some very fond memories there. I would go so far as to say that I consider this house my home on the West Coast.

When family and friends get together, having the ability to all stay in the same house not only saves us money, but it also allows us to spend quality time together. This house also lets us bring our dogs, and it has tons of room for everyone, which other houses that we stayed at before lacked. Before we found this house, we stayed at several others over the years, but there was always some major drawback; either we felt cramped with all of us jammed into a 1500 sq foot house, or the pull out beds were super uncomfortable, or they were far from the beach. This house isn't the most updated (style-wise) but it has a lot of great personal touch that easily makes up for that, and, it has none of the draw backs we found in other places. There are 3 - count em- 3 areas for entertaining! And plenty of room in all those areas, so if everyone wants to hang out together, there's room, but also plenty of space to divide and do your own thing. The kitchen opens up into the dining room, has a window to the living room, and also looks out over the ocean! I have watched a lot of sun sets over the coast while making dinner. All of the beds are incredibly comfortable, even the pullouts!!! And, there is decent privacy for everyone, even if sleeping in common spaces.

The hot tub is also an added bonus, especially for those days throughout the year when it gets a bit cloudy in Santa Cruz - it's not sunny and warm all the time, and the weather seems to turn very quickly, which makes the hot tub even more enjoyable.

The location of this house is also a huge plus. It takes me less than 30 seconds to walk to top of the stairs to the beach, where there is a bench I like to sit on - a lot of the time when I'm visiting, I'll take my morning coffee there to watch the surfers catch waves. It's also a great spot for outdoor enthusiasts - bicycling around the area is easy and relatively safe, it's flat roads mostly, with access to some amazing road riding in the mountains. The owner of the property is from the area, and her and her family know of tons of things to do in the area - restaurants, day outings, rock climbing, bicycling, thrift stores, dog parks - which has been super helpful.

Ultimate family getaway

The owner really thought of everything, from kids bikes to wet suits to sand toys. We've stayed here multiple times with the family. Most places feel cramped with the lot of us but not this house. Great social areas but we also have our space. Kitchen is huge. Being so close to the beach is perfect. Hanging out at the beach there makes you feel like a local. Great views from the balcony. Hard to find other places that are dog friendly, with a fenced in yard for them to play. We will keep coming back!

this place needs major renovation

We had a great time in santa cruz, but the house we rented was expensive for how much renovation it needed. We were also sent a bill for many things that were not put back in their exact location we found it when we arived: for example: if the pot and pans are not stacked right you will get a bill, if a pillow was found in another room you will get a bill, if you moved a potted plant so it wont get damaged you will get a bill, if you leave anything in the fridge you will get a bill. I could keep going but unsure why we pay for cleaning service when we are expected to clean the house the way we found it. We felt after we left that we were scammed out of a deposit with an additional bill. We have rented many houses on vrbo and have never had something like this happen with no damage. We go on vacation to enjoy ourselves. We will return to santa cruz but will never return to this rental.

Owner's Response: The impression left by this reviewer is that of a nit-picky property owner, and conveniently leaves out the actual reasons why they were not refunded their deposit. Unattended children and intoxicated adults (as witnessed by trusted neighbors and property workers) left the house needing a complete cleaning overhaul. What started as an innocent case of oranges, ended up on the carpets and floors as a multitude of sticky dried on orange seeds and spots of dried orange juice, added to that were, (kennels from the popcorn that we leave for our guests to enjoy), followed by tortilla chips left for five days and nights to dry and be smashed into the carpets and floors. Although specific things are asked for in the rental agreement, you will not be charged extra for little things that do not result in extra cleaning time; in the case of these guests, the total extra cleaning needed to prepare the property for the next guest was close to $1650. Once the incoming guests arrived the crews worked overtime outside the home, cleaning the spa and yard, and/or in the garage to finish bagging and sorting the recycling from the trash. Some crew members left at 6 pm on Friday Evening, our main house keeper had to stay until 8 pm, 3 hours after the new guests had arrived, and because of health and safety issues the house keeper had to take the bagged trash home in her car and dispose of it the next morning at the dump when it opened. This all could have been avoided if the guest had simply, 1) supervised their children and used the two vacuum cleaners provided to vacuum up their messes before they dried and became stuck, to the carpet. We also provide clean folded rags under the sinks for spills. 2) Parked their truck other than the clearly signed NO PARKING ON MONDAYS area, which is also in the rental agreement, and, 3) called us, as they were directed to in the rental agreement if the trash where not picked up on MONDAY. This prevented the trash pickup, allowed the cans to overflow, (causing Health and Safety Violations as the cans could not be closed, and complaints from the neighbors about raccoons and vermin). The reviewer seems unhappy with forfeiting the $1,000 deposit, which left the property owner covering the rest of the amount. Their only response to us back aside from these negative reviews has been what we believe to be an attempt at extortion. As it read, “*I think you will prefer if I leave feedback after we have these issues resolved. *”

Note: The house is fine for infants and school aged children, but could pose some hazards for toddlers, who might hurt themselves bumping into sharp table edges, falling down the central staircase, through the staircase railing or deck railing or playing with the electrical outlets. In other words this house has not been child proofed. No Parties. No Pets. No Smoking, incense, or candles allowed in house or on or around wood deck. We will provide battery operated candles to help you set your romantic atmosphere. Although there is a dumb waiter in the house it has been turned off. It must remain off at all times. ASK FIRST, if you are considering doing anything one of the above noted items. This is our personal home. Please respect it as you would your own.
