MOST OFTEN ASKED QUESTIONS: Are you near the beach ? We are located at Banyan Beach so the beach is right beside the building. There are also 4-5 pocket beaches in Kona. I would describe them as about 50 yards in length, some are white sand. Some are white sand and lava rock.

How close is the ocean to the unit ? If you were any closer you would be in a boat. Watch our video and you will see that Banyan Tree sits right on top of the ocean and this unit is located at the closest point to the ocean. We are at the closest point to the surfers.

I've been ripped off in Hawaii before, are you real ? I just got ripped off myself at a hotel in Pismo Beach, Ca. last summer so I understand where this is coming from. First off please read our reviews. They are totally controlled by Homeaway and are from actual guests. I am a licensed real estate broker with Remax in La Jolla, Ca and licensed broker in Hawaii also. I take a personal pride in the fact that the unit is exactly as advertised and that you are comfortable during your stay. W71118091-01 Tax ID Don 858-337-9396 Yuri 808-339-5130

About Don

Licenced real estate broker in California and Hawaii.

Don purchased this condo in 2007

Why Don chose Kona Coast

I haven't seen anywhere in Hawaii that the ocean comes in like it does at Banyan Tree. The people in Kona are absolutely the friendliest people I have encountered on the islands with the feel of old Hawaii still intact. Kona is my favorite city in Hawaii and in the future Banyan Tree will be my next home.

What makes this condo unique

This is the only style unit in the building that has a private master suite. Rest of building the bedrooms are part of the living room. Our lanai is three times larger than the rest of the units in the building, not only giving more space but adding a view of the volcano overlooking Kona.

Great Condo and Location

  • 5 of 5

If your looking to relax with the on top of the ocean , then you will love this place. ( The view is so much prettier in person than the photos show) Walking into the living room you feel like your walking onto the ocean. Clean rooms, very comfortable beds, full amenities, everything you would want for a place away from home. Not a large complex so it's never too busy at the pool or hot tub which are perfectly heated and maintained. Nice to return to our reserved parking spot.

It has a beautiful view being right on the water so enjoyed sunsets every night right from the lanai.

What a fantastic week we just had in this unit for the second time in five years!

Everything is exactly as described and the photos listed are a very accurate depiction of what you actually get. Look forward to our return.

Beachfront Bliss

  • 5 of 5

We stayed 3 nights at Banyan Tree with our two teenagers and had a fabulous time. Right on the beach, perfectly located in Kona for all of the Big Island sights, and an itinerary suggested by the host that made us feel we saw the best of the best during our too short stay.

As others have said, the condo itself is simply decorated. If you are looking for a subzero fridge, marble baths and AC this is not your place. However, if you are looking to wake up to the sound of waves, watch the locals surf close-in with your coffee, and experience perfect sunsets with a glass of wine or a cold one - not to mention being able to walk or drive a quick 1.8 miles to a fantastic snorkel beach, you will want to give this place a try.

Banyan Tree is well equipped. As others have said, it comes with beach towels, snorkel equipment, beach chairs and a cooler. We used these items to snorkel (1.8 miles) and at the local beach with lifeguard (1 mile) down the street, and as suggested, Two Step closer to Captain Cook (about a 30 minute drive) . Both snorkel places were fantastic with a healthy thriving reef and all other snorkeling we did (and even foolishly paid for) on Kauai truly paled in comparison.

The restaurants and local spots Don suggested were fantastic and full of charm. We were not expecting to enjoy so many cute local restaurants. Lots of great coffee, poke, acai bowls and local Kona-brewed beer within walking distance or a short drive from the property. Pineapples restaurant and the farmers market in Hilo on the way to Volcano National Park, Lava Java in for coffee, Poke Shack and The Kona Brewing Company were some of our favorite spots - we stuck with the list at the house and were not disappointed once - all were as described.

We definitely plan to return to the Big Island and we can't imagine staying anyplace but this one. There is no comparison to a place like Millers Surf Shop (literally next store) vs. a Quick Silver in a strip mall. It really gave us that authentic surf town experience free of chains and loads of tourists. We felt like locals for a few days and loved every minute. Only regret is that we waited too long and were not able to get on a Manta Ray night swim tour - we'll have to catch that next time.

Owner's Response: Aloha, and thank you for your great review ! For those of you that pay for snorkeling. On the Big Island I tell you where two great spots are. Kauai- PoiPu State Beach- protected reef easy snorkel. Maui - Black Rock ( in front of the Sheraton) ,and you can watch the cliff divers. You didn't hear it from me but fish love frozen peas, or cheeze wiz. Spray a little under water and use your hand to break it up. The tour boats do the same thing. Mahalo !

Relaxing atmosphere, view from the deck is beautiful

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at Banyan Tree for an entire week. Upon arrival there was a slight miscommunication with the cleaning services for the place to be ready. Don was very cooperative in acquiring maid services the very next day and at our convenience. He was able to more than accommodate for the inconvenience. The actually place was beautiful with a spectacular view from the deck. We had spent countless hours lounging on the deck enjoying the view and watching the surfers. The location was incredible convenient, being close to all tourist sites and resturants. Overall we were satisfied with our stay and would be more than willing to vacation here again.

Great views.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the Baynan tree with friends, the apartment and lanai were quite spacious, and had everthing we needed. The views were great and we spent a lot of time watching the surfers. The complex was quiet and the pool was nice. There is a convenience store across the road, and the Poke Shack is almost next door, so we never went hungry,

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay. Poke Shack gets five stars from us, if your not familiar with poke its a form of Hawaiian sushi. We are finally done with the Lowes warranty washer saga , brand new full size stack-able washer and dryer are in place . We also took one guests suggestion and added tall chairs and tables to the lanai for easier ocean viewing.

Great views, 70s surfer retro chic

  • 4 of 5

An apartment right on the water, with waves and surfers almost in the living room.

The apartment was comfortable and good value. Its almost a bit retro with 70s surfer chic.

We did a lot in the 2 days on big island. Night diving with manta rays (wow, unbelievable), zip lining over water falls (awesome) and helicopter trip over volcanos.. wish I had allowed for more days. We would have loved to dive/snorkle nearby

The owner provided a useful guide and tips for local restaurants etc
