House and property sleep up to 16

Rustic beauty! 3,000 sf Timber Frame set in a wildlife sanctuary on the north end of Camano Island, Washington, The Island House offers a luxuriously private gathering place for friends and family, retreat groups, workshops, and more. 2 1/2 private acres surrounded by ponds, natural wetlands, over 50 acres of wildlife preserve, and close to all Island amenities.

Constructed in 2005 entirely from trees on the property, this owner designed/built home is a work of art! Custom built cabinetry, hardwood floors, 35-foot beamed ceiling, extraordinary stained glass, and a hand-carved railing are some of the visual treats awaiting your stay.

At the Island House, you will experience the comfort of home while being surrounded by the splendor of the outdoors. The 4 bedrooms including a Master Suite, easily sleep eight while comfortable couches can add up to 4 additional guests. A large kitchen and spacious living area provide the perfect gathering space upstairs. Downstairs includes a smaller kitchen and entertainment room, ideal for putting your feet up to watch a movie or finding a quiet place to read. For outside gatherings, benches made from trees on the property surround a fire pit next to the pond.

While staying at the Island House, you may choose a quiet experience such as watching for indigenous birds and wildlife around the pond, or engage in more active pursuits such as kayaking, fishing or swimming at the many nearby beaches, hike in the national parks or attend local events and festivals. About The Owner

He is currently working on a green alternative to Portland Cement; one use is affordable housing. They both love to design and build- Noah's passion in the building and Martha's in the decorating. Whenever possible, reuse and recycle is the first choice in building, decorating and designing. We have 7 adult children and 4 grandchildren and we love to share our home!

Why The Owner chose Puget Sound

We choose to build a home in this area because of its serene beauty. We use it as a vacation rental and our family gathering home. Some day we may retire here.

What makes this house unique

360° NW beauty. Because the house is at the end of the road, and only surrounded by forest and ponds, there is a sense of being safe and secure- almost contained by mother nature. A symphony of frogs at night in the summer, and wildlife that is shares the space with you.

The Island House is a unique property!

  • 4 of 5

Our family - 4 couples and 5 children enjoyed our stay at the Island House. We came from Oregon, Colorado, Wisconsin and Washington to spend time together! The house was perfect for us all - the unique pastoral environment was inviting and very relaxing. The kitchen worked for us, and the sleeping arrangements were fine. Close to state parks and to the San Juans allowed us plenty of beach and exploring time.

Wonderful time at Island House

  • 5 of 5

This is an exquisite property. Seven of my family stayed and we entertained ten more at dinner many nights. Wonderful communal spaces. The area in the back is great for outside dining. The fire pit was a real treat in the evenings. The hot tub is also great. The kitchen and bathrooms greatly exceed any rental I have ever had. All in all, it is a place for a magical time. Martha is a great owner. You will be blown away by how beautiful the house and property are. We all loved our stay.

VACATION OF A LIFETIME

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed at the Island House and let me tell you upon driving to the property its nothing like it appears at the beginning of the road. This house is a dream. We had the best time ever at this lovely home with all the creature comforts of home and more. The yard first of all is beautiful, breathtaking, soothing, and unbelievably gorgeous as you see a new part of the yard come to life each day with fresh blooms. Then the wild life come out little by little, the bunnies, the squirrels, the eagles, the hawks, the buck my husband watched early in the morning down by the water and then the big mouth bass he caught. That was awesome.

Inside the house all the comforts you could want from a great big kitchen to bathrooms that allow you to relax and enjoy. We had a wonderful time while there and wish we had known what this property really was like because we would have loved to stay one more day. We were there for four days and loved every minute. Thanks to the owners who have obviously worked very hard to make this place special and beautiful, your love for this property shows in everything.

Hope to return some day for another piece of your sweet paradise. Mahalo, The Bathe Ohana

Amazing Home!

  • 5 of 5

My parents, husband, brother, sister, and pug all stayed here for a weekend while visiting family friends on the island. The house is stunning and there is a wonderful energy about the place that you really can't describe. The property is beautiful and quiet and was a great place for us to play horseshoes, relax in the sunshine, and enjoy the sounds of wildlife. The owners have really thought of everything and Martha was very accommodating and helpful. We found ourselves looking at our calendars trying to figure out when we could come back!

Beautiful Property & Quiet Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We chose this house as our destination for a girls getaway/writer retreat weekend. It was a great trip, and we really enjoyed our stay. The property is lovely, and the house was the perfect size for us to spread out. There were five of us, and we found the property easily with the directions provided.

The house itself is large and well furnished with unique and quirky art pieces that lent a cozy, personal touch to the space. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were spacious and well-stocked with plenty of linens. We would have liked some olive oil and condiments in the kitchen, but these are minor things that we picked up on our next trip to the grocery store, which was about 15-20 minutes away. We had a great time chatting, doing some coloring books, brainstorming, and writing while sitting around the fire or at the long tables inside the house. The hot tub was easy to operate, and the outdoor space offered a lot of options for seating. There are also many board games, and, in addition to the Blu-Ray player, the TV has all of the apps for Netflix, Amazon, etc. Overall, it was very quiet and serene.

In terms of communication, the owner was responsive and kind, and the instructions for our stay were clear and reasonable. I would definitely recommend this property.

Wonderful wooded retreat

  • 5 of 5

Our group loves to cook and eat, and we had a wonderful time even on a very rainy weekend. The kitchen is well stocked for groups, we divided the cooking for each couple to do one meal, and everyone was able to find what they needed to serve a great meal. We really enjoyed all the artwork and spacious great room. Did puzzles, coloring, watched movies and very much enjoyed our get-away.
