Located on the scenic North shore of Kauai, in Kilauea at the doorstep of the luxurious Princeville Resort lies Hale Mana, a three acre multi-million dollar private estate. Hawaiian for 'house of spiritual awakening' Hale Mana does not disappoint.
This plantation style home is perched high on a volcanic ridge with pristine, 360-degree views of the ocean, valley, mountains, waterfalls and river below. The valley itself is home to numerous ancient 'heiaus' or 'places of worship,' so sacred only the high priests and chieftains were allowed. Back on property you will discover "Kahelelani" or "Stairway To Heaven" where you can picnic, meditate or simply behold the breath taking beauty from this unique observation point 200 feet above the river valley floor. Or chose to relax in the incredibly stunning Zen Meditation Garden. The valley is also home to a National Wildlife Refuge protecting rare and endangered avian species. During the day tropicbirds, frigates, albatross, and nenes circle high above the home as if to form a halo. And at nightfall, under a giant dome of starry wilderness, you can drift off to sleep to the melody of the nearby waterfalls. One of the most unique and pristine properties on the planet - Kauai at its best!
All told, Kauai is NOT the hustle-bustle of Honolulu or the touristy madness of Maui. To visit Kauai and Hale Mana is to travel back in time to a bygone era, to a more peaceful and provincial existence, where words like on-ramps, freeways, and smog have yet to taint the universal consciousness. It’s a sanctuary where skyscrapers are replaced by palm trees and busy intersections with one-lane bridges. And following closely in step are the islands most precious natural resource... its' people. For them, words like community, family and neighbor are still spoken with reverence. Mainlanders call this warm phenomenon the 'Aloha Spirit' and it’s as certain to welcome and embrace you at Hala Mana as are the prevailing trade winds.

We feel blessed to have found one of the most beautiful properties on the planet. It is our special joy to share it with others....you won't believe your eyes!!
The Owner purchased this house in 1996
AS SEEN ON TV: Hale Mana was recently filmed by Discovery Channel for it's new series premier episode of 'Ultimate Homes' !!
From the initial greeting and intro to the property by the owners to our last moments there, this was a great experience. The house is lovely with breathtaking views and all the creature comforts you need (a blender for smoothies is the only addition I would suggest).
The concierge with Hawaii Life was extraordinarily helpful in locating a private chef for an anniversary dinner, suggesting restaurants, and pointing us toward the centerpiece for Lomi Lomi massages.
A little bit awkward to dispose of garbage at the end of our stay but certainly not enough to diminish our enthusiasm for this wonderful place.
We had been saving our money for a family vacation for several years. The decision regarding the location was critical for our 7-person family of three daughters, two son-in-laws, my wife and I. As I reviewed the VRBO advertisements for rental homes, the Hale Mana caught my eye, and I eventually made the decision to book the property. Words cannot fully describe this beautiful home and property. The owners, Neil and Barbara, gladly share their amazing home for others to immerse themselves in the diverse Hawaiian ecology. The home is situated on a secluded 3-acre lot overlooking the Kilauea Stream and the Kilauea waterfalls. It was fun to wake up to magnificent sunrises and an occasional rainbow. Rare or endangered birds flew by the home as they went up and down the stream drainage. Inside, the home was well furnished and comfortable. The home is configured to see outside in nearly every direction through large windows which take advantage of some amazing vistas. The space inside the home was plenty and never an issue. The location was perfect for our needs. Beaches, hiking, snorkeling, were within reasonable distances. I would highly recommend this home for a group looking for a restful and relaxing Hawaiian vacation. We hope to return to Hale Mana in the near future.
Our group of 8 just had the most wonderful stay at Hale Mana.
This beautiful home has the most spectacular views of any house I have ever been in !
It's conveniently located near beaches and the town of Hanalei with its restaurants and shops, but you would want to stay put to soak in the beauty of the place.
The proud owners Neil and Barbara have kept this home immaculate and we're so glad they shared it with us !
Hope to come back for a two-week stay next time !
Our family of 8 adults had a fabulous time at Hale Mana. The location is so amazing that it is difficult to describe, with breathtaking views from every direction! To say we didn't want to leave is an understatement. The house itself is wonderful and it was perfect for our needs. The owner even stopped by and made sure we had everything we needed and gave us some wonderful tips on places to visit on the island. It was definitely the trip of a lifetime!
This house certainly lived up to its description. The beauty of the setting was truly awe inspiring. The waterfalls were spectacular! The house was extremely clean and well maintained. ThIs is a great house, but not for very young children. The drop offs from the yard would be a real concern if you had toddlers.
We would definitely recommend this rental to others. It is so peaceful and beautiful. The only problem we had was finding the property in the dark the first night. In the daylight it is much easier to find!!!!!
It is a wonderful property away from the tourist crowds but still close enough to be accessible to everything you want to do.
My wife and I visited with our kids as well as my sister and her husband. The home is beautiful. The property grounds are spectacular and we took lots of pictures because there are so many different views. The rooms are very comfortable, and the master bedroom has its own living area, walk in closets, large bathroom. From the master bedroom you can see the entire view of the ocean and valley. We could have stayed at the house the whole time and had a great vacation, but because we were on Kauai there were so many other things to do. We spent a lot of time in the back yard on the porch, as well as relaxing on the secluded benches below the yard where you have wonderful views. Beaches are a short distance from the home. We had a wonderful time in the home.
