It is an ideal place to be, as you can be active or spend your time relaxing, whilst children play. It is a wonderful chance to spend time in a very old building, La Grange, an old tobacco farm, dating back over 400 years. There is plenty to do, and visit, if you need days out. We are within a short drive of La Jamaye, lakes and woodland for swimming, walking and bird watching, Aubeterre a beautiful historic village, Riberac for it's colourful Friday market. Big towns Perigueux and Angouleme, are worth a visit. Cognac and Bergerac for wine and cognac tasting.
We both lived and worked in Berkshire, for many years, and had thought about moving to France for quite a while before actually doing it!
We searched around various regions of France before setting eyes on La Grange, which we fell in love with!
Dave is a musician and plays locally, he is very popular at the summer evening food markets.
I am involved with art and textile workshops, as well as event planning.
La Grange purchased this barn in 2000
As soon as we walked through the courtyard we felt this was the right place for us.
No matter where you stand the views are incredible, the quiet and the stillness!
There is also the night skies to behold, they are so clear with no light pollution, and so many shooting stars.
A great place to see the Perseids meteor showers in August!
Mary, aged 8, spent most of the night with me watching these showers, totally
The property is built around a pretty courtyard, with gardens flowing up and away from the main property, leading to the heated swimming pool.
The views from various spots are amazing, watching the sunset and if an early riser the sunrise, are both something to behold.
It is both idyllic and peaceful within a rural environment, so much open space..... quite wonderful!
We had a lovely holiday here. Carol and Dave were friendly and attentive hosts.
The property was clean and comfortable
Lovely outside sitting and eating areas.
Large pool with sun loungers
Good local restaurants a short drive away. Local beauty areas.
Would recommend this property but you would definitely need a car.
