About Michael Rizzio

I grew up in Virginia and moved to California in 1995. Lived in San Diego for the first few years and then made my way up to the Bay area. It's beautiful here and I couldn't be happier! The best memories of my childhood were are annual vacations in Nags Head North Carolina where we would rent a home to share with relatives and friends. I guess thats why I try to make sure all of the guests that stay at are home have the same experience and memories as I did growing up.

Michael Rizzio purchased this house in 2005

Why Michael Rizzio chose California

I had been looking for a Vacation rental for over 2 years before I came across this property in 2005. I had never been to Clearlake before purchasing the home, but I knew as soon as I saw the location and potential it had that this was exactly what I had been looking for! I made an offer that day and it has been a vacation rental ever since. I knew Lakeport was a wonderful town with friendly people and a great sense of community! It was also a short drive from the Bay Area and Sacramento. We added an additional 1500 square ft to make it ideal for extended families and groups of friends. We take great pride in the home and are always maintaining and adding new things to make it as comfortable as possible for all of are guests!

What makes this house unique

The most unique quality of this home is the location where it sits, with unobstructed 300 degree Views and a feeling of seclusion. It's one of only a few peninsulas on the entire lake. It also gives you a sense privacy being that all of the surrounding homes are behind you. It feels like you are the only house on the lake. It also has a huge yard for outside activities and a beautiful preserved wetland area for nature. On the map Rocky Point is marked as being one of the best locations for catching bass!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you for sharing your wonderful home. We loved the view, it was spectacular! We enjoyed fishing right off the dock. We didn't catch any good size bass, but we did catch plenty of cat fish. We had a excellent time here: enjoyed the hot tub. The beds were very comfortable. Its very nice, pleasant and quiet here. Very relaxing. we also enjoyed using the kayak to fish. Again thank you for sharing your wonderful home with us..

I just wanted to thank you for your amazing home! We had such a fabulous

time. It felt like we were away a week and it was only 2 nights! Thanks so

much for being flexible with our check-out time on Sunday, it made all the

difference. We loved everything--?the view, the hot tub (although I think you

might be out of chemicals in the dispenser?), ping-pong, pool, the kayak. We

had so much fun! The kids both went out on the kayak with me while my

husband swam (I brought his wet suit)! Then, our son decided he wanted to

swim too. It was ?far too cold, but he had fun dunking his body in and out off the

dock! We all loved it. I'm amazed at what a gorgeous spot you have, and the

views from above make it feel like you are living on a boat. My husband was

happily surprised and mentioned it was one of our best weekend getaways ever

(that's saying a lot, since we've been doing birthday surprise getaways for the past

20 years!) Thanks again?. We had so much fun, and would love to stay again

Great location and great house.

  • 5 of 5

This place was so awesome. The house seemed like it was remodeled and was one of the newer houses in the neighborhood. It is so spacious. But we just wished there were stairs from the kitchen to the porch outside because the kitchen is upstairs and the grill is outside downstairs but it wasnt much of a problem. The house had alot of stuff to keep us entertained. Even though there were 15 of us, we still had lots of space. There were extra folding beds, pillows, blankets in some of the closets. The location of the house is perfect for fishing. We were catching so much crappie, we caught them all weekend long. The yard is also spacious, just has no shade on a hot sunny summer day. The kayak was fun. Everything here is pretty much almost perfect. The only problem we had was that there were so much bugs as being told. The bugs are attracted to the lights and they got into the house so easliy no matter how fast you try to go in and out. Even though they DO NOT bite, it was pretty annoying and digusting when they're flying everywhere. Also, I know we only stayed for 3 days and 2 nights but it felt like we stayed 1 1/2 days only because we checked in around the afternoon and checked out early in the morning (we expected early check in and at least an afternoon checkout by the price we paid) but it wasnt such a problem, just wanted to make our moneys worth. Maybe if you plan to stay here, book it at least more than 3 days if you have the money to.

Overall, the place is great for big family and probably be even better if you have a boat but don't sweat it. We had so much fun here with whatever was provided for us. This place is amazing and we will be looking forward to coming back here. Thanks to Michael for being so responsive and making this trip a wonderful family trip for us.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for your review Ben, It's always so nice to here what a wonderful time everyone had. I wish I could of offered you an early check in and out, unfortunately with guests leaving and coming in the same day I only had a little bit of leeway. Looking forward to having you and your family back as soon as you get the chance. I did want to reiterate about the bug situation this year, this has probably been one of the worst I've seen them since owning the home. When they show up it's usually late May early June, as soon as the weather starts to warm up. The good news is that they don't bite, their just a little annoying. When they're abundant I recommend keeping the blinds closed in the evenings and using a door that isn't well lit to go in and out like the master bedroom slider downstairs. I leave a wet vac in the foyer closet that is very useful to rid of them. There's also a bug zapper in the shed outside. Hope this helps other guests considering renting our home. Sincerely, Michael

Wonderful setting!

  • 5 of 5

There were 7 of us staying in this beautiful house on the point. It was very private, with a huge lawn and a killer view. We could even see fish by looking into the reeds, and there were fishermen every day who tried to catch them. Birds were everywhere: swans, geese, ducks and some we couldn't identify. We used the kayak, pool table and ping pong table. Unfortunately, there was a "hatch" of midges which blew our desire to sit in the hot tub in the evening. Pretty much everything is provided, and the owner gave us a helpful list of what we needed to bring. There are plenty of places to sit outside, on decks and patios, and also a fire pit and barbeque. All of us really enjoyed our stay.

Wonderful, modern home with excellent accommodations and views

  • 5 of 5

Nice, spacious home with lots to do. We were a group of 12 mom's there for getaway, and it delivered! Hot tubbing, kayaking, barbecuing, playing pool, relaxing in the hammock, taking in the views, soaking in the tub, fishing...there is something for everyone all in one spot. The kitchen was well appointed. Nice, modern appliances. One thing worth noting, which no one can really do anything about, is the bugs in the evening. Opening a door after after dusk results in literally hundreds of bugs entering the home. Not sure if it's always that way. There also was insufficient blankets. We used one of the roll aways and came up with a couple very small throw blankets to use with it. If you plan to use additional beds besides the ones that are made up already, I would recommend notifying management in advance to be certain there is bedding to go with the extra beds. Owner was very responsive with my questions, so I'm sure a quick call would have fixed the problem if we had needed to. I would definitely go back!

Cannot imagine how perfect this place would be in good weather, but even in bad it was perfect.

  • 5 of 5

We had a group of four couples from the midwest hoping for 70 degree sunny weather in April in No CA and Michael's Lakeport house had survived the March Lakeport floods unscathed.

With five bedrooms and four baths this place was perfect for our group. The kitchen was great for two or three cooks and libation makers to work. The bedrooms and baths are all nice.

The view from the front of the house is all nature. You cannot see the Lakeport neighbors.

Michael was great to work all along the way. We will come back again if our aging group wants to travel there again.
