Perfect for my one month writing retreat!
Picking the right apartment for my 1-month writing retreat was crucial and I couldn’t have chosen better. This lovely apt in the Marais had everything I needed. A perfect size – gave me lots of room to spread out and when my husband and daughter visited, more than enough room for us all. The bed was incredibly comfortable, as was the pull-out couch (says daughter). Kitchen was fully equipped, with all I needed to cook all my meals. Had a nice kitchen table with 4 comfortable chairs (spent a lot of time working there, staring out at the beautiful buildings all around). Couple blocks up on Bretagne you’ll find everything you need: grocery stores (franprix), produce markets, wine store (Nicolas), pharmacy, bakeries, and even the oldest market in Paris! Wonderful restaurants and cafes in all directions from the apt. If you have the time, take the Food Tour of Marais - right in the neighborhood!
Apt had fans in both rooms and the big windows let in so much light. The shower was tight but the water pressure was superb and the shower head was adjustable for height and could be detached. Plenty of hot water for all. The pictures do not show the entrance hallway which contains a very large walk-in closet with lots of shelves, place to hang clothes and store luggage. Internet was strong and secure. TV did only have French channels, but it IS France, afterall. Can always bring your roku or firestick.
Building is quiet and the apt is two floors up, but even at 60 yrs, I didn’t find the stairs at all problematic. Upon arrival, Rafael met me, helped me with my bags, showed me how to work everything including the induction stovetop, combo microwave/oven (very clever!), and washer/dryer. I often had questions, which Rafael or Carolyn responded to very quickly, including how to get to Versailles when the suggested RER train was down for maintenance!
The Marais neighborhood has lots of upscale shops and is accessible to everything, but true, it’s not tourist central (anything near the Seine/Notre Dame). I preferred this, much quieter, esp at night. You can walk nearly everywhere or a Metro is just a few blocks away, which will land you close to any attraction–and buses are just as easy to use. But Paris is best seen by walking! It is also true that getting to/from the airport takes a bit of knowledge about the train system (metro, RER trains) but with Uber it’s easy to get a ride to the closest RER station. Already planning my next visit-would stay here again!
Elaine was a delightful guest! Very easy to communicate and took good care of the apartment.
Can't thank her enough for everything she did, even removing a stain that not even professional cleaners could deal with.
Hope to see her again soon.
Clean comfortable flat in outstanding location
My wife and spent 5 nights at this flat in mid April for our 25th anniversary in Paris. The location was just ideal for our needs. On a quiet street (for Paris) with outstanding walking access to all things Parisian: subway, shops, markets, bistros, major attractions such as museums, Notre dame etc. The priority for our trip was about being out-and-about on foot as much as possible. We walked about 50 miles in 4 days and this location in combination with the subway served us extremely well and provided for a very easy and comfortable rest each night. You can certainly spend more on a more up-scale luxurious flat but this was not our priority and as we booked a bit late we had relatively fewer options than somebody booking many months before. All that said, we are very happy with our choice and would stay here again. One major bonus is the combination washer/dryer which for us was useful as I was coming off a weeks business trip before meeting my wife in Paris, so doing laundry helped a great deal. Being a corner 2nd floor apartment provides for nice views of the small street below and very nice airflow in the evenings. Do be aware that the flat is on the second floor accessible by a twisting stairway, which has refinished treads on the first flight (nice and flat) and older rustic treads on the second flight (imperfect and not always flat). This could be an issue for some people and you should take this into consideration. The bed is extremely comfortable but small’ish, not too small for us, we slept very well and comfortably. There is a huge amount of closet space including shelves but no chest of drawers in the room, but again not a significant issue. The kitchen is well appointed with what appear to be small but effective appliance, to be honest we didn’t really cook at all, just some light snacks and breakfast. too much great food to sample outside!
Both Carolyn and Tatiana were easy to work with via the VRBO Application as well as text, very orderly and business like with clear instructions both prior to the trip as well as during check in.
Great place to stay in Paris
The apartment was lovely. We were two -- myself and my mother (aged 80.) The place had everything we were hoping for-- it was tidy and modern yet had character. It is remarkably quiet at night. Feels like a safe neighborhood and also there is security --three locked doors-- to enter the apartment. Groceries just up the block. Metro close by. Many local cafes with sidewalk cafe culture. Our favorite local restaurant was La Pauline--preferred it to Le Progres. Note: You do need to be able to walk up some slightly steep steps reach to the apartment.
Lovely apartment, central, cute and convenient
A beautiful compact abode, clean and modern with all that you require. Shops are close by, the metro around the corner and the apartment centrally located to all attraction. Our family comprises 4 and we were very comfortable.

Clean, comfortable and well equipped apartment.
We give this apartment and owners a very good rating. The apartment was clean, comfortable
and well equipped. The neighbourhood was safe and very walkable, with great restaurants,
groceries and sidewalk cafe’s all nearby. The subway was just 2 blocks away and gave us fast access
to every tourist site. We will try to use this apartment again on our next visit.
Great area, great space!
We really enjoyed our short stay in Le Marais, wish we had chosen it for the longer portion of our Paris trip. It is very conveniently located to lots of variety of shops--and plenty of great fashion stores!--but all the necessities are close by too. The apartment is very bright and clean. It's quiet and the beds are very comfortable. Even the pull out couch is top notch. Either the other tenants were away or they were very quiet, we didn't hear anyone on the stairs, which can be a problem in buildings with wooden stairs if you're not used to it.
There's plenty of storage for getting your suitcases out of the way and making yourself at home. The only thing we missed was a toaster.
Raphael was excellent to communicate with and contacted us to make sure we were on schedule.
It was perfect for the 3 of us, myself, my husband and 12 year old son. We would stay there again for sure.
