Casa del Sol is the perfect place to experience all the Roaring Fork Valley has to offer. This spacious, sunny studio is located on 6 acres of private acreage off Four Mile Road. You can wake up every morning to a breathtaking view of Mt. Sopris. Casa del Sol is perfect if you are hoping to experience the mountain town life and yet be able to retreat to a quieter space - or if you want to be a 10 minute drive away from Sunlight Ski Resort. Casa del Sol is uniquely located between Glenwood Springs and Sunlight Mountain Resort- each one 5 miles away on Four Mile Road.
Casa Del Sol is great for couples, but can accommodate up to 4 guests. Please note, that Casa Del Sol has a studio style layout, thus privacy is limit if the group is more than a couple.
Our residence is on the same property, about 25 yards away but we give all of our guests space and privacy. Full Disclosure- we have 2 small boys who you may see playing outside from time to time.
***Note - due to our location outside of town, we are only subject to 3.9% state and county sales tax vs. the 11% tax required at in town properties.***
Casa Del Sol is located along Four Mile Creek, five miles from Glenwood Springs (about a 10-15 minute drive). As you continue up the road, Ski Sunlight is another five miles away. In the winter this is an ideal family ski resort, with surrounding cross country and snow shoe trails. You can enter into BLM land, and drive to Four Mile Park- offering snowmobile trails and sledding hills.
In the summer, the hike up Ski Sunlight is beautiful and quiet - you will often find yourself the only one there. Four Mile Park offers hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking.
Ski Resorts: Ski Sunlight is a short ten minute drive up the road. Sunlight offers a wide variety of terrain, with a friendly local charm.
Aspen is forty miles away - and boasts four world class resorts - Snowmass, Highlands, Buttermilk and Ajax. The crowds in Aspen are minimal compared to the resorts closer to the front range.
For more world class skiing, Vail and Beaver Creek are an hour away to the east.

***Special Note for winter guests - All wheel drive or four wheel drive autos are required when staying in December, January, and February. Difficult conditions may also exist in November and March. We have the driveway professionally plowed and generally do not have problems. However, inappropriate cars can and do get stuck as elevation changes exist on the driveway as well as the possibility of slick ice and deep snow. Stuck cars do cause problems as the driveway services three separate properties. You are required to provide information about the cars that will be driven during the winter. Guests that become stuck are responsible for all associated costs.***

Why Mark Spidell chose Glenwood Springs
This house is just a short walk from our home. This allows us to be nearby if the need arises, but far enough away to provide privacy. With great views, the peaceful sound of the creek and the proximity to the great outdoor adventure, this property is truly special.
What makes this Studio unique
Casa Del Sol is unique in that it offers plenty of natural light and great views. It is perfect for a couple's get away or for small families. This property is special because of its location and unique design. It is close to town but also feels rural. You can adjust your plans easily as it is near many different activities. Fresh powder at Sunlight?...10 minutes away. Want to go river rafting...10 minutes away. Awesome snow in Aspen...45 minutes away. Want to going for a bike ride...leave from the house or drive a short distance to some beautiful trails and paths.

A couple of suggestions
This was a very nice place to stay and very clean. There are a couple of things I would suggest. The top 2 stairs that are wood are very hard to see. It would be easy to miss the step and fall. Maybe some reflective tape on the edge would help. I did not like the fact that there was food in the refrigerator. It should be kept empty for guests. The property is very quiet and the views are beautiful.
Bright, Open Space
Rented this place as part of an extended family getaway. Walking distance to two other properties that we rented. Very comfortable place to relax. Nice, quiet space for a couple or two.
We loved Casa Del Sol. The views from the deck are fabulous.
Comfortable cottage with all the amenities. The bed is very comfortable and we loved the vaulted ceiling filled with sunlight.
Casa del Sol in Autumn is transcendent.
Mark has created a very special place. The architecture, the cozy open space of the living room, bedroom, and kitchen all lends itself to a very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Viewing the snow covered slopes of Mount Sopris flanked by autumn splendor was mesmerizing. All superlatives aside, the entire stay was top shelf and we will definitely be back. Thank you.
