Relax in this beautiful historic mansion located in the heart of Potter County - Coudersport, PA. With 6 private acres, you’re secluded in the mountains surrounded by trees, flowers and a flowing stream. The walk around the property is sensational with a large bass pond occupying most of the six acres and you have easy access to trails for biking, snowmobiling or just taking a walk.
The completely furnished French Château style home dates from the 1930's and was built by the late Dr. Donald Othmer as a family summer vacation home. From the hardwood floors to the curved marble staircase, you'll marvel at the original details.
With five bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms, you can bring along the entire family and still have plenty of privacy. 1 King Bed, 2 Queen beds, 2 Doubles and a twin. A private office is available if you must catch-up on a little work or instead take in the mountain air, fish the bass pond, relax and watch the turtles and ducks play or my personal favorite, roasting marshmallows on the open fire pit. Just bring your lounge pants, tooth brush & leave the stress in the city.
If it's the ski slopes of Ski Denton, The Coudersport Public Golf Course, The Susquehannock Trail System or just a relaxing break. Come and experience the good life of Potter County at Othmer Pond Estate.

Visiting my ducks, improving the property, seeing old friends, relaxing, BBQ
Sometimes when you're anticipating something for awhile (as we did with our trip), there is a letdown -- it looks better than it is. This is one instance where the opposite was true. The house, the lake, the area is just amazing!
We hiked, fished, played tennis, rowed, lounged by the fire, and most of all relaxed and enjoyed, feeling very much at home. The place was clean, very comfortable, and perfect for Easter dinner and board games to follow. And, even though the weather was a little bit chilly, we were able to start a nice warm fire in the pit and sit outside under the beautiful stars.
The baby ducks were adorable, and took to following my daughter around like a mother duck. For a little girl that doesn't like being away from home, she's already asking when we can return. Actually, the rest of us are asking the same question!
My family and I fell in love with this home, it's property and surrounding community! As you get a small preview with the photos of the house and its property, it's far more beautiful once you arrive and take everything in! The house has such more relevance than just it's size and beauty of course ...it helps if you understand the historical signifigance, because as you walk around the home, and look around at the old photos of the home back when it was being built and reading of the" Othmer"s contributions in his life I instantly had a feeling of what an honor and privledge to reside in this home! The house had for the most part everything we needed except an axe for chopping wood for campfires:) My family and I enjoyed fishing in the pond .There are beautiful rainbow trout! My daughter caught the biggest croppy and bluegill we have ever seen! I myself caught a catfish that clearly has been in the pond for years! My husband spent most of the 4 days with a pole constantly in the water the minute he woke up. He caught 32 rainbow trout(which all were put back! :) ) The grounds are just beautiful! It has truly taught me to take some time and look up to the sky and truly embrace your surroundings because you never know what your going to see! We were lucky enough to see a bald eagle perched in a tree ! I truly can see now why they call it "God's Country", because it truly is! It's a small quaint beautiful area with townspeople that are genuinely kind and polite! It truly melted my heart to know that towns like this still exist! I cannot forget to add the OTHMER DUCKS! The ducks are adorable waddling around the grounds and swimming to their island in the afternoons for a nap....but the minute they hear the door open they are swimming back across for some more to eat! They truly add a special charm to the grounds! My daughter fell in love with them and kept them well fed :) All in all I would have to say if you want to escape from the fast forward pace of life ..and bring yourself back down to earth, and surround your self in "God's gifts to us," This truly is a reconditioning for your soul! Thank you Greg for the opportunity to stay on your property!Your home has given our family some memories that will last a lifetime!!! THANKYOU AGAIN!! "THE ESTOKS"
We highly recommend Othmer Pond Estate; it was exactly as advertised. Othmer Pond Estate is a beautiful, well maintained, older home located at the edge of a small town (Coudersport) at the edge of the mountains. The location is the best of both worlds; one can walk into town or hike from the backyard. The house is large and comfortable with the charm of an older home. Both the interior and exterior are well appointed with comfortable and ample furnishings. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking light fare or full meals for a large group. The property was very clean from the home itself to the linens and towels provided and the outdoor areas. The yard was lovely and private with seating in front overlooking the pond as well as on the large patio off the rear of the house. As previously mentioned, the property sits at the edge of town but this was never a problem. There was lots to do from morning walks through town (everyone was very friendly), to the local movie theater (one showing daily at 730, one movie per week) a few shops in town, a little antiquing in the area, several local restaurants (Olga's was a little more upscale, Kaytee's provided "home cooking"), the PA Grand Canyon (45 minute drive, beautiful vistas, no hiking required), the Lumber Museum, Rainbow Fish Farm (catch and release or fish by the pound), and lots of hiking (out of the backyard, up the steep hill briefly , then a one mile flat trail), the Pine Creek Rail Trail (45 minute drive, easy flat walking, do the Turkey Path around milepost 12 - steep one mile path following a waterfall, pretty vistas at top), and the STS (Susquehannock Trail System, 85 mile loop with multiple on and off points). We had a great week at Othmer Pond Estate and highly recommend it. Greg, the owner, is easy to work with and very helpful. There is a caretaker locally if any problems arise (which they did not). We would definitely return!
We are four close friends and fraternity brothers, who graduated from Penn State in 1964.
Every year for the last 6 years we have been gathering at various places on the east coast for a long guys only weekend. We have had homes in Charleston, SC Charlottesville, VA, Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake, Orlando, FL, Pocono mountains, etc.
When we made the decision to try the northern PA mountains this year, we were excited to find a home that could accommodate all four of us in separate rooms, and we were happy to find that the owner was also a Penn State graduate, so we felt we could trust him to provide a rental of the kind of quality that he knew we wanted and at the location that would work for us. We wanted to get close to the famed Grand Canyon of Pa and also within a short distance to Corning NY for special restaurants and their museum.
We were badly misled by this owner and the accommodations were quite sub par in many ways. I will itemize as follows:
1. no air conditioning; poor cleanliness (found a dead fly on a shelf in the dining room)
2. no drapes or shades on many of the windows, including some bedrooms and living room;
3. garbage was not picked up the the dumpster was overfilled to the point where garbage was all over the ground and about to go into one of the main tributaries which feeds the Allegheney River;
4. The gas grill was dirty and unbalanced, as it appeared that one of the rollers had fallen off, so we did not use it (it also seemed that the tank was almost empty);
5. There were doors inside which did not close due to warping;
6. The sofa had a tear on the side;
7. There were inadequate trash bags, no bars of soap, no napkins;
8. There were cracks in the walkways, and stairs; rotted timbers around the back door;
9. There was inadequate outside lighting;
10. There were no instructions as to how to work the entry mechanism, how to work the coffee maker, no welcoming packet, no maps or restaurant recommendations, etc.
11. Overall, there was a sense of neglect about everything.
We were told that the home was private, but in fact it was right on the edge of town and we could hear vehicles on the adjacent streets. We were also told that the home was about 45 minutes ride to Corning NY, where we had told the owner we would be visiting. In fact the home was about 1.5 hours to Corning. And it took over an hour to get to the Grand Canyon even though it was represented to be a short drive. And for some strange reason, the owner w
The VRBO listing description was impressive, but can't possibly capture the charm and beauty of the real thing. Being there at the peak of the fall colors made it that much better. Eight women family members ranging in age from 16 to 60 were at Othmer Pond for fun, food and Jane Austen movies. We felt as if we were staying at Longbourne, and Coudersport doubled as Merriton.
Othmer Pond is a beautiful, clean, comfortable place to really relax. In my conversations with the owner, Greg, I felt as though he was an old friend who wanted us all to feel welcome and comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped; there is a rowboat to paddle around the pond in; and a pair of resident ducks (whom we dubbed Lydia and Whickam) greeted us every morning in a most animated manner (especially when we had a cup of chicken feed for them). Some of us wandered in the woods, others strolled around the pond. We had a fire in the fire pit for smores, and a fire in the pellet stove in the evening. Everything was clean and comfortable. I recommend Othmer pond for everyone. Families with children will love the outdoor amenities as well as the roomy interior and good supply of games. Groups of women will love it for purposes similar to ours, and groups of men could have "Die Hard/Terminator Weekends" there as well!
The heart of Coudersport is a walk of minutes, where there are plenty of shops and restaurants, as well as a grocery store. We loved Olga's in particular. We had such a good time that we're planning on making it a yearly event. Thank you so much Greg for everything!
Our family wanted to get away from it all and we couldn't have chosen a better place!!! The house was unbelievable beautiful and spacious, reminiscent of a large southern plantation home. The beds were so cozy it was hard to make our way out to the beautiful balcony in the morning for coffee and to feed the awesome ducks our children named during our stay. We enjoyed fishing on and off shore the boat being there was an added surprise especially to our boys who couldn’t seem to stay off the water. All we needed to do was unpack our cloths we brought supplies like towels and such that never left our truck, everything we could have needed was there and then some. We spent days by the pond and even at the local pool which was minutes away on the bike trial and nights by the fire enjoying the scenic back patio area. This vacation was one for the books we plan on visiting many more time!
