Our home is a 3 bedroom plus den, 2 bath home located on Heart Lake in northern Minnesota, just 5 minutes away from the headwaters of the Mississippi River. This majestic home sits on 2 acres of land with 200 ft of lakeshore that will provide the perfect environment to unwind and enjoy your vacation. Our home has high cathedral ceilings in the living room, kitchen and dinning area with many windows to provide a great view of the lake and surrounding outdoors.
A private and quiet, secluded lake with great bass, northern pike, crappie and sunny fishing (you can catch keepers right off the dock). Take in the beautiful sunsets serenaded by the loons at dusk; watch the deer feed in the yard mornings and evenings. Listen to the birds sing in the morning and the frogs croaking at dusk. (get the picture?).
There are plenty of indoor activities too; Playstation 2, movies, board games, puzzles, coloring books and crayons, cards, cribbage, chess or a friendly game of charades (If the weather isn't cooperating). After the daily activities sit around a crackling fire burning in the large stone fire pit. Cook burgers and hotdogs on the swing-out grill (don't forget the marshmallows). Relax in the 2 person Jacuzzi tub upstairs in the master bedroom suite.
Or just take a blanket to lay on and gaze at the stars.
This place is about relaxing while being as active as you want to be. Play horseshoes, croquet, badminton or volleyball. Hike or pick wild raspberries. Enjoy water sports like jet skiing, water skiing, boating or fishing. Take the kids to Itasca State Park for a bike ride. Go golfing at nearby golf courses, horseback riding, four-wheeling or just take a hike in the woods on one of the many trails around the property.
Take a siesta under the trees, sketch a loon and her babies in tow or take a walk in a winter wonderland. Relax, enjoy yourselves and forget about the rest of the world for awhile. Come stay at Heart lake for an experience you won't soon forget.
The property was purchased in 1988 and there were many years spent coming every weekend all summer camping in tents, then a camper bus and then to a small mobile home. In 2000 we started work on building the home from the ground up with the help of all the children. The home is a labor of love. Over the years we have continued to make improvements on the home and landscape to get it where it is today. In the spring and fall I still come home to enjoy the peace and quite that only the Minnesota north woods can bring.
Jacqueline purchased this house in 1988
We have lived and traveled in many different states. When I started to look where we wanted a vacation spot I just kept coming back to northern Minnesota. There is so much variety, with the four seasons and all the lakes. Most of all the sound of the loons call on the lake on a summer night while sitting around the camp fire with friends and family.
The home is on a 480 acre private lake and very secluded with only 16 homes around the lake. Private boat landing. The fishing is excellent.
Hiking trails nearby.
Adjacent to state snowmobile trail.
Itasca State park (headwaters of the Mississippi River) 3 miles away.
Fishing was great we didn't catch this many near LaCrosse ont the mighty Mississippi! Facility is great for a family "of all ages" 60 years & down to 2 years of age
We stayed at this property together as photography club. It worked out nicely for us since there was plenty of room to spread out. We did a lot of night photography and it was great having the choice of either the secluded lake or Itasca state park. Club members appreciated having so many choices nearby for what to see and do. We enjoyed having the fire pit as well as the large yard to explore. I overheard people saying they were definitely coming back with their families as this would work nice for those with large families. Me, I appreciated the quiet and the zero light pollution for my pictures. Oh- and a few of our club members also remarked that they had never seen the milky way so clearly before.
We stayed for 2 days with a friend's family. The house was well maintained and clean. It was well stocked. We didn't have to bring anything except food. The house was indeed tranquil. Right on the lake and lots of trees. We loved the privacy it provided.
I organized a girls weekend for a few of my friends and we couldn't have been more pleased with this location and property! There was plenty of space for everyone to relax and do their own thing or all come together and visit or play games. The pontoon worked great for an afternoon stroll around the quiet and serene lake. I would highly recommend this cabin!! Thank you!
Group of friends went up and spent a long weekend here. Great accommodations and quite, private spot with lots of land! Would definitely recommend!
We loved this house that is just a bit away from hustle. We were coming off a loop of National Parks (camping and vrbos) of Northern Wisconsin and Minnesota. I only wish we had brought more people! Our family of 6 had so much room. We hate crowds so this was one of the few non-resort and reasonable priced places near Mississippi Headwaters. Great bathrooms, A + kitchen, and comfy beds! We more than appreciated the large capacity washer and dryer. The outdoor fish sink is so nice to have unfortunately the pike that we wanted to keep got away from us;). All ages will catch fish on this 20-50 ft deep lake. We fished, tubed, wakeboard, and floated around shore/dock. We brought our own boat but the shed is stocked full of floats, fising gear and games in addition to pontoon. Fire pit is great and yard super spacious!!! Internet after so much camping was a necessity and connection was strong. Jackie is helpful and very kind.
This was our 2nd year gathering our family from ages 6-64 near Bemidji. We decided on this property this year and was pleasantly surprised.
The stillness and quiet that comes with this lakeside property is indescribable. Each day we saw eagles soaring, heard loons calling and we filled our lungs with the fresh air while on the deck or by the lake catching fish.
Jacqueline is wonderful to work with and it is obvious she takes pride in her property for her guests. All you need to bring is clothing, food and a few paper products. She's got you covered with all the other amenities. Having wifi was a big plus since none of us were able to get much cell service around the cabin (which helped with the quiet part).
It was very convenient to go and explore the beauty of Itasca State park.
Once Jacqueline shared her lure tricks, the fish was plentiful and with the slick fishing station they have set up, we enjoyed fresh fish tacos.
Tons of great memories were made and we are already recommending the property to our friends/coworkers who need a peaceful retreat.
The property is located just off a state snowmobile/ATV trail adjacent to Itasca State park.
Itasca State park Headwaters to the Mississippi just 2 1/2 miles away.
Excellent hunting area with state an county land close by.
