Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a great time staying here. We walked to the Island Explorer bus and rode around the Island. We visited Jordan Pond House and had popovers and blueberry crisp yum. We cooked lobsters and ate in the backyard. Thanks for a great house and so many conveniences.

Fantastic rental perfectly located to explore Acadia

  • 5 of 5

We visited Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park during peak season and found the location of the rental to be outstanding for zipping into and out of the National Park. The in town location gave us access to everything we needed and the ability to be in the park by car or bus within 5- 10 mins. The home itself is well laid out and appointed for a family. We felt at ease the minute we walked in the door. The home was on a quiet residential street and we especially enjoyed having both a private driveway and a backyard during our summer visit. We have rented many vacation homes and I was most impressed with how much thought and effort the owners put into making their home well appointed and useful to vacation renters. It was the little details such as putting a bike rack on the property and accumulating a wealth of local and travel information for use by the guests that the owner supplied that prompted me to write this review. There are too many details to list but be assured the owners have thought of everything to help you have an enjoyable trip. The rental process was smooth and efficient and our deposit was returned promptly. We enjoyed our time immensely at Acadia Escape and will rent this home again when we return to Maine. Thank you Augie and MaryEllen for sharing your home with us so that we could enjoy the splendid coast of Maine!

Great location, older home, very warm in summer

  • 4 of 5

The location was great. It was just a couple of blocks to downtown Bar Harbor. The space accommodated our family of 6 very well. There are 3.5 bedrooms upstairs. One is perfect for a baby and comes with a pack n play. The outdoor space is nice and we ate most of our meals out there. It was nice to have a driveway to park in. The owners are literally out your side door and were friendly.

The home is older with furnishings from the 90s but it is clean has all the basics you could need. The only real issue we had was during our stay the temperature reached 80 and there is no air conditioning in the home. The bedrooms and kitchen were very hot, even with the windows open. I would suggest putting some ceiling fans or window units in.

Owner's Response: We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. The location is ideal for walking to town without having to worry about parking. The evenings in Maine most often cool into the 60's, we do provide box fans in every bedroom for the few nights the temperature does not drop. We do have a ceiling fan in the dining room if the weather does prevent you from enjoying the outdoor dining area. Again glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your suggestions.

Excellent location. Lovely cottage.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and two sons (10 & 12) spent a lovely week at Acadia Escape. The cottage is ideally located five minutes walk from the village green and downtown Bar Harbor. We were able leave our car in the driveway and ride the free shuttle into the park everyday. Mary Ellen and Auggie were very responsive and a pleasure to deal with (and meet). We loved being able to cook at the cottage or walk in to town and eat out without having to designate a driver, made the whole stay very relaxing. We would heartily recommend Acadia Escape.

Clean and super convenient location.

  • 5 of 5

Owners were friendly and offered help in many ways. The house was we'll equipped to handle our family's needs. The location can't be better. It's in the quiet side of the street but super close to all that the town can offer. It was a bonus to have a private driveway and lawn. We were able to enjoy Acadia more because of what the house could offer. We will be back. Thank you Maryellen and Augie.

Location, location, location

  • 5 of 5

My family of five spent a week at Acadia Escape, our first trip to the area, and we could not have been happier with the location. We found tons to do, all within walking distance: restaurants, shops, trails, boat trips, etc... The house is supplied with everything necessary and we found the street and neighborhood to be very quiet. Maryellen even greeted us upon our arrival and had some wonderful suggestions on some activities to check out. Overall, a great vacation, and the kids are already asking to go back!
