JoAnn Zwally purchased this house in 1969
We were in our late twenties when we discovered Lake Harmony on a visit with my parents and brothers and sisters. It was love at first sight of me(JoAnn). I went out with my mother to the local real estate agent and found the lot. I convinced Jay to buy, and the next year we built the house. We still love it.
This home is an affordable getaway for friends and family. I liked that it was located so close to the lake with a canoe available for use. The home is charming and well kept by the owners, the pictures on the website are true to the location. This is truly your home away from home with the available amenities which are not always available on other properties.
The owners are very accommodating and friendly. I would recommend this property to my friends and family and will probably use this property in the future again.
What a great weekend with family and friends at this wonderful location. Owners were awesome to deal with and would recommend to anyone looking for a Lake Harmony rental as you won't be disappointed!
This was a charming house in a beautiful setting, exactly like the pictures show. Everything was clean and it has all the necessities you need for your stay. Two full bathrooms, lots of windows and a gas fireplace. We would definitely rent again.
We had 5 children and 4 adults stay in this beautiful and accomodating home over President's weekend. The pictures on this site do not do this home justice and we were very happy with our surroundings. When we arrived at the home we found everything we needed to ensure a comfortable stay and took advantage of the lovely fire place. The children even got to make smores from the comfort of the indoors because it was extremely cold outside, but we didn't notice thankfully because the heat was working well. The location of the house was perfect because we were so close to H20 for the kids and then we went to Big Boulder for some skiing and snow tubing. Dinners were lovely at the large table and everyone had a great time. We were definitely sad to go and hope to make it back to the Zwally's Balconyhaus this summer to enjoy the lake.
My family of 6 planned to stay for 3 nights, but we enjoyed ourselves so much we asked to stay an extra night. The owners were very accommodating and flexible. The house was spacious and a lot of fun. The kids loved the loft/balcony bunk bedroom. Love the high ceilings on both floors.
Living Room/Dining Room: LOVE the openness of the living area. The couch and love seat were comfy, the big stone fire place is impressive. Flat screen was nice and we had cable and Wi-Fi.
Kitchen/laundry room: Big enough – did the job. The counters, sink, coffee maker and dish washer were awesome. And we enjoyed using the Belgian waffle maker. The only minor complaint was there could be a little more storage for dry food. The flip side is that the cabinets were filled with just about everything you could need. We slept comfortably in each room. The two second floor rooms had flat screen TVs and a cute jack n jill bathroom (with a tub) between them. The bathroom on the first floor has a nice big shower -the water pressure in the house is great. The home is nestled nicely in the woods with lots of privacy. There’s a small deck on the front w/table and chairs and a picnic table in the back yard near the fire pit and grill. It backs up to a very large wooded area the kids had a great time exploring. The deer are everywhere and come right up to you. We practically fed them by hand every day. Turkeys wandered through occasionally as well. There were tennis courts right around the corner with shuffleboards. The beach is only a couple blocks down the street and there is a small parking lot if you just want to roll the car down with all the gear. The private beach was very clean and well maintained and has a big floating dock for the kids to jump and dive from and the people/families on the beach all seemed very nice and “civilized”. Very family oriented. The canoe was great, but I would recommend using it later in the day, since there are a lot of motor boats on Lake Harmony which makes navigating challenging. We had really good pizza one night on the deck of Nick’s Lake House. It was beautiful out there eating on the lake. We ate breakfast at Piggy’s which is a neat place to go, but very overpriced and the food is so-so....but good ice cream next door. We really enjoyed wing night at Boulder View Tavern. Perfect dinner atmosphere for families. We hope to rent this home again some time!
This property was just as advertised. We had a wonderful time. We enjoyed our stay at this place. It was very comfy and well equipped. My family loved seeing the deers that passed by the house. Beautiful view and we loved that it was just a couple minutes away from Big Boulder. We drank hot chocolate near the fire place and played charade. Is truly a perfect place to spend together with your loved ones. I am definitely considering renting this property in the future. I also recommend it for anyone that is looking for an affordable rental. You will not be disappointed. The owner has kept up with this property, everything was in working order and clean. I am very thankful for making my weekend getaway as pleasurable as possible.
