A wonderful long weekend with family in a perfect setting and area!

  • 5 of 5

Very well outfitted home with plenty of space inside and out. Nicely and thoughtfully furnished, we truly felt right at home. Great location in heart of Barnstable Village. Quick walk to beach and short drive to Hyannis for shopping. Owners very nice and quickly respond to questions. Definitely a place we'll rent again!

Bag End

  • 5 of 5

Bag End is a perfect house to rent for groups of 4-12+ people. The kitchen is very well stocked, the entertaining rooms are well laid out. The deck, hot tub, and grill expand the available space. The beds are comfortable. The owner is very responsive and was at the property when we arrived. He and his mom gave us ideas on what to do and where to go. The home is within walking distance of several restaurants and a great little market. You can also easily walk to harbor, beach, and whale watch landing.I highly recommend staying there.

Great-highly recommended

  • 5 of 5

The home was perfect for our intimate wedding. We were able to comfortably host a wedding, lunch and BBQ with easer and plenty of space. Not to mention housing a total of 10 people. Everything about the home gave me the feel of the cape and we'll definitely use again the next time we come to visit.

Luke was great to work with and was so accommodating that he even allowed us an early check in time a day early!

Great experience for the first time in the cape and using HomeAway vs a hotel!

Perfect home for large family

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time in this Barnstable house. The configuration of bedrooms, bathrooms and living spaces was perfect for our multi-generational family. The location was great - close to town, harbor and beach. We took advantage of the seafood restaurant and store, the harbor eco-tour and the coffee shop, among other attractions within walking distance. The kitchen is great - we did a lot of cooking. We hope to go back to Bag End again soon.

A Charming Historic House

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at "Bag End". The house and gardens were immaculate upon our arrival (someone was even touching up paint as we drove past to peek at the property). The kitchen was well stocked with coffee grinder, sharp knives, plenty of pots and utensils and up to date appliances. There is a large deck with hot tub off the back, which feels very private, even though you are on the corner of Main Street (literally). The beach is walkable, as is the town of Barnstable. The owner Luke was very quick to respond and very professional.

There were plenty of board games and personal touches throughout the house that made the stay comfortable and relaxing. The laundry is upstairs in the recently remodeled bathroom, which was great.

The house is quite old (but has been remodeled) and consequently has some very steep sets of stairs and unusual arrangements of rooms. My kids (4 and 6) loved exploring the ups and downs but did have to be watched on the attic stairs in particular.

The only thing we could have wished for was beach towels, which were not included. Overall it was a splendid stay and we would return here for sure!!

This home is Old Cape Cod to perfection. You’ll get the best of both worlds~ Beach and quaint Cape Village. Relax the days away on the beach (walk home for lunch)! Walk down to Barnstable Harbor to pick up the legendary Whale Watch Tours or grab some amazingly fresh seafood for dinner. Antiquing, window shopping and discovering local flavor in one of the many restaurants is waiting for you in the village. Or.. spend hours playing at the children's park lovingly named 'The Hollow' across the street. The Village of Barnstable is located on the north side of the cape, centered along 'Old Kings Highway', route 6A, the home to many historic landmarks including Sturgis Library, The Olde Colonial Courthouse, The Barnstable Comedy Club, and the Trayser Museum. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Hyannis, you are but a 5 minute drive to the Cape Cod Mall and downtown. This house is truly the best of both worlds!
