About Rod

Hello potential guests, I am Rod the rental owner. I am a good nature kind person who will do everything i can to help make your vacation stay the best experience possible.

I only live a half mile from the rental if you have any problems or questions or might need something.

Why Rod chose Southwestern Idaho

I bought and built at this location for many reasons. It is located close to Boise, sits on the National Forest service Boundary so nothing behind cabin but thousands of acres of nature, wildlife and trails to enjoy with a very limited amount of others. It is a beautiful location and quiet relaxing setting perfect for a getaway place.

What makes this cabin unique

I myself am a hunter and also a Atv rider so since the cabin location has both and abundance of wildlife and Atv trails, it is not only beautiful and relaxing it's a sportsman paradise.

Beautiful cabin in a peaceful forest setting! Loved the Hot tub!

  • 5 of 5

This was exactly what we were looking for and everything was perfect! The owner, Rod, was always there to help us with a few minor things! He immediately brought over a propane tank when we wanted to use the BBQ! The area was still covered in snow so we didn't get to use the firepit this time but the Hot tub was awesome!!! We plan on coming back again after the snow clears a bit. Thank you for a great trip Rod!!!!

Overall nice stay

  • 4 of 5

After all the great reviews we had read, we were excited to stay at this cabin. We were looking to move to the area (which we later did!) and were hoping to get the low down from the owner on some great hiking, fishing, hunting, etc near the cabin amsld surrounding areas. Unfortunately, he had gone out of town and we never met him. We feel we missed out on getting the local 'scoop' on the areas.

The cabin is beautiful inside! Very rustic feel. Nice downstairs area for kids (2 sets of bunkbeds down there). However, the place was not thoroughly cleaned. We found dirty socks under the bunks. And even worse, a bunch of crushed up chips under the couch cushion! Also, it reads that the guests are to leave all dishes washed when checking out. We arrived to some very poorly washed dishes! Had to wash EVERYTHING before being able to use kitchen.

Not trying to speak poorly, just offering our experience. Seemed as though it were quickly looked over between guests...made us wonder if blankets etc were cleaned :/

Was surprised, also, by the large handwritten note upon arrival that was posted, stating no one under 14yrs (I believe it was) was permitted into the tub. That should have been noted on the site as we had paid quite a bit for our large family to enjoy this place.

Also, fire pit was not like the photos shown. It was a mess. Beer cans and bottle caps crushed and left all over! It is a fun, secluded area though to enjoy some Smores :)

Definitely farther from Boise than we expected (about 50 minute drive). I realize it says 30 miles from Boise...and I'm sure that's accurate (to the county line, that is). Just didn't realize it'd take that long to drive there each time.

Overall, it was a nice place. Cozy. Big, beautiful deck. Sounds like the absence of the owner just left it a different experience for us.

(we were there in June of 2015)

Awesome Time

  • 5 of 5

We had a great experience at the cabin. It was clean and has plenty of room and everything you would need. There are trails right behind the cabin that are great for hiking and exploring. It was very peaceful and quite no one around. Rod the owner will do everything he can to make you happy and comfortable, Great Guy! There is firewood to burn in the outside fire pit witch is a little ways away from the cabin its a nice area to hang out. The hot tub at night is really nice you can see all the stars and smell all the fresh mountain air. We didn't want to leave and will be back again this year. You can get there in a car or a big truck with a trailer, The road is good just take it slow if you have a car and you will be just fine. Bring your atvs, bikes, motorcycles or snow machines. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves the outdoors.

Enjoyed this cabin

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this cabin. Also, as everyone else mentions here, Rod is a nice guy and more than willing to help. I cannot say anything bad about this place. The wifi was not good at all but I guess that's to be expected. I will say, however, that is is set in the woods - no sweeping views, etc., but it is surrounded by woods and peaceful. Would recommend a stay here.

Cozy Hideaway Located About an Hour From the City

  • 4 of 5

We always enjoy renting houses when we travel because we like 'living like the locals' and having the room to hang out. This cabin was the perfect place for that. Rod, the owner, was very nice and responsive as well. I won't repeat what others have said except to share the highlights - the hot tub was lovely. We only got to use it once (because the weather was so warm) but it was great. And speaking of weather, it was great to have central air. The bed was comfortable (something I can tell you is NOT the case with some rentals) and the location can't be beat - close to the city but close to hiking and sightseeing and even some nice swimming holes.

Great place again

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was wonderful a second time around. Although we were not able to to enjoy the place as much as we wanted with all the activities going on in Idaho City, it was very nice to be able to rest and unwind there. Thanks Rod for keeping your place in great shape. It seemed even better this time around from the last.
