Our family of six (husband, adult son, teenage daughter, 10-year-old son, mother-in-law, and myself) loved, Loved, LOVED the Sandcastle Beach House! It was absolutely perfect and literally took our breath away! The view was spectacular, the grounds and landscaping oh, so pretty, and well-maintained, and the house was immaculately clean and simply charming! Our family enjoyed drinks and relaxing on the private beach, cooking and dining at the beach house each and every night, and watching the sunsets from the screened-in porch. All three kids had fun paddling around in the kayaks, and my husband and I even kayaked around the entire island! The water was crystal clear and VERY shallow which was quite a relief for this over-protective mother! The outdoor shower was AWESOME, and there were plenty of beach chairs/toys, so leave those at home! The house itself looked like a page straight out of Pottery Barn and had everything we needed, including plenty of bedding, towels, washcloths, and even a large supply of beach towels! The kitchen was a dream, and the only thing missing was a colander on "Spaghetti Night," but we managed! Valerie, the owner, was quick to respond to all of my queries, and Scott, the caretaker, was very kind and helpful on our drive to the beach house, even recommending dinner at the Bayport Inn on the evening of our arrival! We truly enjoyed our stay at this beach house and hope to return! It was simply lovely, it was perfect!
This was our second time to the Pine Island Beach stilt house. The property is completely well-maintained with upgraded renovations. The most exciting part of our weekend was seeing dolphins and having the kayaks readily available to paddle out and be close to them. Sunday evenings there is live music drumming at Pine Island Beach. Willy snack bar nearby makes the best coconut shrimp! We also enjoyed early Sunday morning bike riding before the beach crowds came. The property manager was available if we needed anything. Beautiful sunset right in the back of the house. We will definitely rent this property again in the future.
The house if literally feet from the ocean. The beach was essentially private; boulders on each end of a group of homes keep the setting private. A large screened in porch provides a protected but lovely view of the ocean. The house itself is tastefully but subtlely decorated. It is absolutely lovely. The proprietor was friendly, responsive and helpful. Our vacation was lovely from start to end. Definitely plan to visit again.
We booked sandcastle because of the 5 star ratings, we were not disappointed. On our arrival we were greeted by Scott's wife who gave us a tour of the property and answered all our questions regarding the area etc., sandcastle was immaculate, everything and more had been provided. We watched the Dolphins most days, a few times they swam alongside the kayak that was provided with the property which we used everyday, because the water is so shallow, it was really warm. We have stayed at various villas in Florida over the last 15 years, this was by far the best. We would like to thank Valerie for her help with the booking and speedy responses to our many e.mails. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone who wants to stay in a beautiful home with amazing sea views. Need we say more.
Beautiful house and location. The furnishings are first class. We loved the screened front porch overlooking the private beach, with the rattan furniture. The bathroom and shower room were beautiful. We never sat in the main part of the livingroom at all, and used the smaller area where the TV was located. The master bedroom was lovely and the bed was firm to lie on. There is a fantastic barbecue on one of the decks with seats and a table. We saw lots of wildlife such as osprey, sting ray, baby hammerhead shark, baby shark, mother duck and eight ducklings, turtle, dolphin, heron, hummingbird, cormorant, signal crab, sand crab and lots more. We used the kayak almost every day and the dolphin swam next to us on a few occasions to our great delight. The sea is lovely and shallow and when the tide is out the sand is quite silt-like. I would say this is an excellent location if you're like me and are nervous of going in the sea. I never once felt scared when in the kayak or the sea. We only had a week here unfortunately as it was booked either side of our week. Just wish we could have had time to use the cycles. We would love to return at a future date.
Sandcastle is a special place. It's not for everyone, but we love it. If you're looking for a fast paced vacation location; this isn't it. We stayed here last year at the same time. It's clean, well maintained and beautiful inside and out. We like the fact that the water is very shallow and great for young children. It's very remote which means you have around a 10 to 15 minute drive to get to the store, but you're pretty close to everything once you get off the island. In fact; there's a water park at the mouth of the road to the island. The pictures of the house are right on. Enjoy your stay!
