With pleasure, we welcome you to Crescendo:
a world-class home of unparalleled excellence -
classic elegance ... like never before.
Crescendo is not merely a ski chalet, it’s a fortress! At about 5200 square feet, Crescendo is Big White’s largest single-family home offered as a rental accommodation. More importantly, though, at Big White, Crescendo defines “luxury,” and every aspect about the home was designed for practicality and for comfort.
From it's distinctive look to its uncompromising design, Crescendo, is a testament to architectural genius. A work of Art, actually, where contemporary ingenuity (and elegance) interact seamlessly (and harmoniously) with nature’s raw beauty. Embedded into the mountain’s granite base, and following closely the mountain’s natural contour, Crescendo was brilliantly engineered to be an extension of the mountain itself.
Five very separate / private areas are created by half-rotations around our striking glass-block spiraled staircase. So, while Crescendo is at first a 3 bedroom 5 bathroom home, our rooms may be configured in various ways so that Crescendo may have up to 6 bedrooms. Crescendo, too, has enough fixed and movable beds to sleep 22. Our intention, though, is to comfortably sleep 15.
Three of our bedrooms are dedicated wholly to that use: the Master Bedroom & the two Guest Bedrooms. The Theatre and Game Room are our flexible bedrooms, meaning that the rooms can easily serve as being both entertainment areas and private bedrooms. While cleverly designed and hidden, the beds in both of those rooms are custom-made and permanent. Also, the bedding/mattresses are of the same exceptional quality as the dedicated bedrooms.
The bed/bath configurations may be found elsewhere on this site. Note, though, that even when not including the use of any of our sleeper couches, Crescendo has 14 separate beds (1 King, 5 Queens, 8 Twins). We additionally have various portable beds that can be setup upon request. These include cots and air beds for adults, portable cots & sleeping bags for toddlers (up to about age five), and a Pack 'n Play for an infant.
Almost all of Crescendo's bedrooms have their own private ensuites. The master ensuite, though, is especially sweet. Not only does it boast a two-person steam-shower, but the two-person jetted tub overlooks the Great Room, providing views to the fireplace, to the ski slopes, and to the Monashee mountains.
While Crescendo can’t lay claim to creating the Monashee Mountains, we can lay claim to capturing it. The unprecedented panoramas through the Great Room’s twenty-eight foot floor-to-ceiling windows are truly breathtaking. From virtually every room, in fact, your eye can feast endlessly on awe-inspiring beauty: a beauty that remains the foundational ingredient to your realizing the depth of tranquility that can be experienced at Crescendo.
Practical elegance is another way to describe Crescendo, and that description extends also to its SmartHome features. Whether you’re technologically savvy or technologically challenged, you’ll be intrigued by the intuitive nature of Crescendo’s home automation systems. When you arrive to Crescendo, merely touch “Hello," and the home awakens. Key lighting guides you through each room, and the fireplace and whole-house XM music automatically activate setting the ambiance while you settle in. You’ll enjoy experimenting with the touchpanels in each room, through which computer-integrated lighting, audio/video, and climate-control are all at your command.
Sixteen amplified zones allow music to be localized or distributed throughout the entire house (garage and outside decks, inclusive). While XM radio is provided for you, Crescendo can shake hands with your Android, Apple, and Windows devices, allowing the system to read, display, control, and distribute your personal collection as well.
Non-Skiers? No Problem!
Staying at Crescendo is like being at a private lodge. Skiers and non-skiers both rave about Crescendo’s entertainment options, which is why Crescendo is enjoyed by guests even outside of ski season.
Late Spring to early Fall, in fact, are my favorite times at Crescendo. Just take a look at our Outdoor Play areas, where you'll find resort-like comfort. During the day, move freely between our pool and picnic table areas. Later, enjoy the sunset, seated around our gas-fired Fire Table.
Your chef, too, will enjoy the experience with you, as our new Grilling Station is fully integrated in that area. A 38” Napoleon Grill (that’s 42 hamburgers), built into and surrounded by granite-topped bar seating. With an abundance of counter space on either side of the grill, meals flow smoothly from grilling platters - to the grill - to serving platters. The grilling station is a convenient extension of the nearby kitchen, so when it comes to providing an awesome gourmet experience, we’ve got you covered both inside and out.
Further, the entire space around both the Patio and Pool areas has been leveled, tiered, and landscaped. Transitioning between the two areas is seamless, accommodating seating for more than eighty people. Whether for an outdoor event (e.g., wedding) or for an intimate romantic dinner for two, Crescendo’s outdoor space is truly exceptional.
What's that you ask? You want to know about some of Crescendo's other amenities? Well, for one, Crescendo’s Media Room is outstanding! The movie screen is 110”, with 7.1 surround sound (not to mention two 12” subwoofers). More than 1100 movie titles are at your fingertips, literally. They can be reviewed by scrolling through their electronic jackets projected onto the screen, and controlled, of course, via the two touchpanels in that room (yes, you’ll find a customized remote controller, as well).
For you Card Sharks, we have a Poker Table that seats six. For you tennis players, we have ... no, we don't have tennis courts; but we do have a Professional Ping Pong Table. And, for you billiards buffs, we have Bumper Pool: much more exciting (and takes up less room) than a regulation Pool Table.
No problem with body image here! Crescendo is equipped with 2 unique high-end fitness systems: the PowerTower and the SwimGym. The PowerTower was designed for high performance functional sports training (and clinical physical rehabilitation). Crescendo’s SwimGym equally adds a novel dimension to recreation, to exercise therapy, and to sports medicine. It’s non-aerated system creates an underwater current for stationary lap swimming.
Our Signature Dish
Clearly the main course at Big White is the 25 ft of champagne powder that is served at Big White each year. We have told by our guests, though, that Crescendo’s signature dish is, without doubt, our indoor-outdoor pool/Jacuzzi.
Crescendo is the perfect venue for family or Corporate retreats, for weddings, and more. Crescendo’s expansive ceilings and open-layout combine to make Crescendo warm and inviting: whether the event is small and intimate or over 100 strong. Also, Big White’s setting, of course, is wholly magical.
Coming to Kelowna for Golfing or for the Wine Festival? Crescendo can accommodate you and your golfing buddies (or multi-generational families).

Why Mitchel D. Perlman chose Central Okanagan I
It's about the Snow, about the People, and about the Property. At Big White, it's all about the snow. Consistently, there is more champagne powder at Big White than at any other mountain I have experienced. The people of Kelowna are genuine and honorable, and the Aussie influence at Big White is electrifying. Crescendo itself? Simply stated,Crescendo is second to none: in its location; in its amenities; and more.

"Perfect Getaway, Great Find"
Crescendo is a gorgeous building that stands out from the surrounding homes, and is a complete smart home, in every way. I’ve never seen anything like it.
- How often do we get to stay in a smart home? Very cool experience!
- Crescendo easily accommodated our party, with capacity to spare. The home is well kept and very clean.
- The children and adults loved the pool: really cool indoor/outdoor concept.
- The movie theater and the suite of movies were amazing. It was like an unlimited selection of entertainment.
- The steam shower was an experience!
- The BBQ area and built-in sound system was the perfect private patio experience.
- Also, it was super quiet; it was like we had the whole Village to ourselves. Being from the city, I personally liked that.
Mitch, your service was amazing, and the property managers were a call away and showed up promptly when needed. Crescendo is a pretty cool place, and I recommend staying here.
Heads-up to those visiting in the summer. Crescendo is on a mountain, so the nights can get rather chilly. Great for using Crescendo’s Jacuzzi, but one should be prepared by bringing along more than just merely shorts and t-shirts. Another tip is to gas-up before leaving Kelowna, as there are no gas stations between there and Big White (you’ll need at least 80 kilometers of fuel to get to and from Crescendo).
Thanks Mitch for supplying the location for our memories.
Wow! Thanks MUCH for the thorough (and great) review. So glad that you all got to experience the totality of what goes into making Crescendo all that it is.
One of my favorite areas is definitely the BBQ area you referenced. That’s one of the reasons I actually enjoy being at Crescendo more during the summer than the winter (although the winter is crazily magical).
GREAT suggestions about prepping for a visit, by bringing the right attire as well as by gassing up. I, too, have driven back from Big White on fumes. If it weren't for the fact it was mostly downhill, I doubt I would have made it. I’ll be sure to include both of those points in the info we send in advance to our guests, with regard to preparing for their upcoming stay.
Super-home: fun, well-located, huge, complete
What an amazing, awesome, fun experience! Our family had such a great time, and the house is so very convenient to the Village. My son learned how to ski from scratch and was able to walk back to Crescendo between group class breaks. We also thoroughly enjoyed the theater (complete with popcorn) and game rooms nearly every day! Great family fun. Thanks.
Thanks, John, for the awesome review! Yes, it's so hard to explain on the website just what a game-changer Crescendo's location is to the Village. So glad you and your son were able to experience that. It definitely makes a huge difference. So glad, too, you all took time to experience Crescendo's amenities, the Theatre especially, which is always able to stream the latest releases of virtually all of the popular movies. Best! Mitch
Amazing place to stay, would 100% recommend.
The "Mansion" beat expectations of all 16 guests. Lots of room for all with a great location.
Thanks Kevin for the review. So glad, too, that you all had an incredible time.
Our Perfect Wedding at Crescendo
In September 2017, my husband and I were married at Crescendo. From the moment we began our planning with the owner, we felt supported and encouraged. Mitch has a helpful, flexible, and accommodating staff that takes care of the venue during the bike and ski season. As soon as we stepped foot inside Crescendo, we knew it would be the perfect place to stay during our wedding weekend and to hold our 120 person ceremony and reception. The indoor space gave a unique house party feel to our wedding and due to the magnificent architecture of the chalet, décor was kept to a minimum with floral arrangements, greenery, and “enchanted forest” details. Guests were able to hang out in the theatre room (where we positioned the main bar), in the great room (where staff removed all furniture and we made a dance floor with a DJ set-up), around the beautiful dessert table (dining room), and outside on the covered patio (where we had a band, a cocktail hour bar, and patio seating. I was able to get ready in the master bedroom, which provided a perfect dressing room for the makeup artist, hair stylist, and bridal party to spend the afternoon. The catering company (Details Catering) were familiar with the venue and took advantage of the modern kitchen area to create and serve canapés throughout the venue (we chose not to have a sit down dinner). The outdoor space at Crescendo provided a scenic and ethereal venue for the wedding ceremony. We were able to set out over 100 rented chairs and the event company we hired (Blushing Pear Event Planning and Rentals) created an elegant aisle and arched area for the ceremony to take place. At the end of the weekend, we didn’t want to leave the luxury of this chalet at Big White. Our guests were blown away by the magic of our wedding weekend at Crescendo. If you are interested in getting married at Big White Ski Resort, Crescendo is the place to do it!
Melissa, what can I say? You are genuinely beautiful: inside and out. It is no wonder that you, as a bride, were drop dead gorgeous. Michael, too – wow – so handsome. Does he ever stop smiling? As a couple, together, you made the event magical. You, and not Crescendo, deserve all the credit. Thank you, though, for your thoughtful review and your generously kind comments. Mitch
Amazing Family Ski Trip...

We spent all our four evenings at the house as its equipped with so many diffrent things to be not bored and be entertained .
Thanks Zaneta! So glad you all enjoyed Crescendo and that you all had a great time. That’s what we like to hear.
We are so grateful for an amazing stay at your beautiful home! Our guests were so impressed. Many of our younger crew have never had the chance to stay in such luxury. This made the experience even more special for us. The ping pong table, games etc were all put to good use. Oh..and that hot tub is amazing!
Your extra touches like the cups, vinegar and coffee are so appreciated, thank you, those cups are so neat!
Upon arrival the garage door opened and there were three people there to greet us and help unload our vehicle. This WAY exceeded expectations. Sheila did a great job showing us how the home functions.
We hope to be able to do a repeat next year.
Tina and Brad
Hi Tina / Brad -
Wow! Thanks so much for taking the time to post the review. I sent the link to Sheila & Dan, asking them to share your feedback with their crew, as well.
We do truly try very hard (and don't always succeed) - something that the customs agents couldn't understand when they grilled me about the 40 (single) pounds of my favorite coffee (Sulawesi-Kalossi), 80 of the “magic” coffee mugs (and 48 embroidered robes) that I brought with me from California a couple months ago.
This ski season booked-out so fast this year, that yesterday I had to scramble to block-off a week for me and the family. Looks like we’ll be closing out the mountain for that last week of the season. Can’t wait!
Thanks SO MUCH for being such incredible guests, and for the great comments.
Other Snow Activities: Snowmobiling, Snow-Limo, Cross-Country Skiing Golf: Crescendo is an incredible home to host a group of golfing buddies. Extremely convenient to have the entire group under the same roof. World-class golfing is nearby, and at the end of the day Crescendo becomes a hub for relaxation and entertainment. Summer: Big White is now open during the summer months as well. See their website for planned festivals and activities. Hiking, Guided Nature walks, and more are open 7 days per week. For those who only want to hike down (or not hike at all), a Chair Lift to the peak is open on the weekends. Mountain Biking: Many biking trails have already been cut into the slope. Enjoy those now at your leisure. Numerous trails also available across the road from Big White, through some of Canada's finest National Forestry. Look, too, for Big White's announcement of when they'll have one of their chair lifts modified for carrying bikes up the hill, along with onsite bike rentals and equipment.
