ADORABLE ,FULLY REMODELED, HISTORIC 1928 beach/urban North Beach Artist's Upstairs Loft shows pride of ownership and is very clean and well maintained. It is one of the very first buildings built in San Clemente!!!! We have lovingly restored her and she is a gem!

We offer a charming one-bdrm. w/1 really comfy back deck off kitchen that is my favorite spot in the morning with my latte and book. We have cocktails there in the evenings when we are lucky enough to visit our little piece of paradise! Our outdoor living area off the living room is a great place to dine or hang out in the outdoor lounge area with a glass of wine. It has a private entry, a full Spanish tiled kitchen, and one full bath w/tub-shower combo.It has a 'Jacuzzi' jetted tub, Spanish tile, and a hand painted sink. We also have a shared GARAGE with downstairs apt. (for mid size or smaller cars). Vehicles can be staggered quite nicely.

It is our downstairs garden unit..it is smaller, less money, but it doesn't skimp on style or comfort! ....Both have privacy, own entrances, indoor laundry facilities, patios..... Only thing shared is the garage!

_We purchased our building in 2006 and she was in sad disrepair We recognized her potential to bring her back to her Spanish 1920's Ole Hanson style and charm.... We took it a step further and updated her with modern amenities, new windows, heating, air units, plumbing, wiring, appliances, refinished original hardwood floors, new bath, new decks, kitchen...... On and on. She still retains her uniqueness! Old doorknobs, 'moon' ceiling in living room, funny out - of- commission outlets that our plumbers scratch their heads..... She was one of the very first homes in North Beach and had a full open ocean view at the time. She was the only home on El Camino Real at the time.As time went on she lost her view as development grew, the alley was put in which extends the length of the beachside of San Clemente. It is now interspersed with commercial, retail, eateries, homes, high end condos, little apartments, coffee cafe, flower shop, vet, tire store, car wash, Ichibieri's sushi, Rider's Club amazing burgers, beach trail, Ellie's Cafe, bike rentals, surfboard shops we love It is quirky, fun, and your typical old style beach location !!! My name is jeff M lewis and I am a professional photographer and artist. I have studios in three different states and vacation rentals at those locations. In San Clemente, CA my studio is in the same 1929 building our Vacation Rental. My works are displayed and sold at several Galleries in California, Idaho and Colorado. Disney Resorts commissioned me to produce several large works for their Paradise Pier Resort next to the original Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, CA. The new Sheraton Resort in Carlsbad, CA commissioned a work for their beautiful new ocean view lobby next door to LegoLand USA.

San Clemente is an artist's dream. It is a great little beach town!!

My wife, Debbie, is an interior designer and owns her business, Off the Beaten Path Interior Design. She specailizes in high end interior looks $$$$$$$ for any size budget. She has created her business on the premise of creating high end designs using expensive pieces purchased very inexpensively. She has built a reputation for saving her client's $$$$$ while giving them the quality and look they wanted.

We are inspired by the beach and the life style of San Clemente. It is unique and special.............. There is no other Southern Ca. beach town like it.... friendly, laid back, and full of charm of the 1920's Spanish Revival Style!!!

Why Jeff M lewis chose Orange County

Just a fabulous little hamlet by the ocean. Not pretentious and very laid back. This is not your typical 'OC'. A short stroll to the famous Ole Hansen pool/community center. Another longer stroll from North beach around the corner on the new Beach Walk Trail to the Pier and then up Del Mar to downtown. Many new wonderful restaurants and shops. Equal distance to downtown LA and downtown San Diego. Just does not get any better if you want to chill at the beach.

What makes this condo unique

Sun, surf, sunsets, fine dining, a zillion places to go and things to see from LA to San Diego. It will take many, many vacations here to experience just a fraction of what is available along the different Pacific Ocean and slightly inland communities of Southern California. San Clemente is right in the middle of it all without all the fanfare of Newport Beach, Marina Del Ray or Malibu.

I stayed here for 5 weeks and the Lewis's went out of their way to accomodate my very last minute stay. They had flowers and wine for me. They were really nice and helpful.

The loft was so close to the beach and my workplace. It was really decorated in a beach/ colorful/ and tasteful way. They had great bedding and I used the decks the entire stay! I had my bike, went on runs on the trail, brought my surfboards.

Thanks for your patience and graciousness.

Steps to Ole Hansen Community Pool/Recreation Complex and Beach. Our little enclave will be our place to retire and put down roots. We love eclectic, friendly, and quirky! This neighborhood provides it. Before purchasing our building we lived in a gated community of 5 unit condo overlooking the water...... We were locked into high owner's association fees, everyone lived on top of each other to share the view. We had the opportunity to purchase our historic CASA Tortuga and threw caution to the wind. It was a PERFECT decision! We are very creative, artistic people and enjoy our sense of freedom here in our little slice of heaven. It is comfortable, happy, unique, totally remodeled, and a warm space to relax with PRIVACY and enjoy the beach life style... Just pack your clothes, sandals, a sweater, pair of jeans, casual sportswear, hair dryer. We no longer provide hair dryers as we were replacing them monthly... Life is good!!!!

Great home, awesome location

We throughly enjoyed our time at San Clemente while staying at Jeff and Deb's loft apartment. Very comfortable, clean and safe. The home was perfect for us and we couldn't have asked for better folks to rent from. Just a short couple minute walk to the beach and even took in church at the beach Sunday morning on our second day. Great time and we look forward to returning try soon!

Comfortable and a great size

My wife and I stayed at Jeff and Deb's place for several days and it was centrally located between San Diego and Long Beach where we were spending several days. Both decks are great and we would hang out in the mornings to drink coffee before walking down to Ellie's on the beach for breakfast before spending the day on the beach. The kitchen is outfitted better than most of the VRBO units we have stayed in so we could have cooked meals if we were not out enjoying all of the local restaurants. There was plenty of room if we had more than just the two of us but it was cozy for us also.

apartment not what we expected, we left after 2 nights

We were disappointed about: the busy road and the extra bedding.

We were not able to sit on the front desk, which was the most convenient one, material wise. This side is on a busy road. Therewith we couldn't open windows because of the noise.

The bedding supposed to be for 2 adults, 2 children (we told the owner the age of our children, and that we are a skinny/sporty family). The bed in the bedroom is perfect, we slept with 2 adults and 1 child. The second bed is a joke. The mattress is very thin and worn (springs come nearly through). There was a thin foam layer on top. This was very old, this is unhealthy! Therewith, for sure it doesn't sleep 2 (children).

The locks are very old and difficult and the garage opener didn't work.

San Clemente was also some disappointing. We liked the atmosphere in beach towns just north of San Diego better, this is personal of course.

The apartment is not worth the price! Especially coming from europe we had to pay a lot extra on cc handling and so on.

Because we didn't feel comfortable, not holiday feeling, we stayed only 2 nights and paid for 4.

Unfortunately the owner didn't want to give a (small) discount :(.

Ofcourse they don't have to, it was our choice to leave. still it would have been nice gesture. They didn't feel sorry for us we had the feeling, the reaction was quite unfriendly.

Owner's Response: Guest was difficult, language barrier. She didn't understand the ad and booked 4 adults into our one bedroom lovely loft apartment. Our ad clearly states 2 adults, 2 small children or 3 adults. The guest made a mistake and we told her that a 2 bedroom would have been the best choice. They didn't appreciate the noise but it was our busiest holiday of the year with family celebration, 4th of July fireworks and bonfires. The guests sent numerous texts requesting monies returned to which we declined. Our guest reviews speak honestly of our property. We take immense pride of our home and are humbled by our terrific reviews. Our sofa bed is comfortable. We have slept on it many times. Our bedding is down and high quality. Our locks are in working order, not old. Our garage door opener works fine. We have a 100% accuracy rating of our property description by VRBO. Our guests made a poor choice for their family due to language barrier. We have no control over that. We do our best to offer our best in comfort, cleanliness, style. We cannot please everyone but after 8 years we continue to do our very best..... Kind regards, The Lewis's

Perfect location, beautifully decorated and maintained!

The owners show such care and pride of ownership with this property. Hands down, my favorite landing spot for every vacation or quick get-a-way. Well appointed with great furniture and décor.

The location is within a couple minute walk to the beach or a very short drive into town.

Book it with confidence, you will not be disappointed!

Quality property with great beach house feel. Great match between the cost and value.

Owners have done a great job to create a modern experience with a great beach house feel on the inside. The in town location and access from the alley is a distraction but no big deal. It is great that the owners have provided satellite television, wifi, and that all the appliances and aspects of modern living. Some cleaning and maintenance of the inside of the A/C units could be useful. The beach house decorations and furnishings are very fun and themed to promote the environment of a great couple or small family vacation at the ocean.

Owners Deb and Lewis are very responsive and do all in their power to make sure a stay at their property is positive and enjoyable.

San Clemente is a great ocean side town and the shopping and dining are well worth the stay at this property.

I would recommend this property to friends and family who are looking for a great value at a great price. Be prepared to meet the needs of your own home when staying at the property. Trash removal and some light pickup at the end of your stay is required.

Over-all if you are looking for a great Southern Cal location and have a love of the ocean and beach and are looking for great value you will have a great stay at the San Clemente loft property.

Owner's Response: Thank you Kirk for your review. The A/c units were serviced/ cleaned in March. We service them twice a year. We do strive to offer a very clean, modern, comfortable, and well equipped home. I am an interior designer so I have taken every detail into account to ensure our guests love their atmosphere. It is a very happy, colorful, and inviting space to just relax! We do require our guests to take their trash out to our outdoor receptacle upon checkout due to hygiene and odors. We also ask our guests to put their used towels and sheets in laundry room for our cleaning service to wash. We are only 3 minutes to the beach, beach trail, mini train station, and eateries. We are a 10 minute walk to the brand new outlet mall as well.
