Green Mountain Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-6)

LOOK NO FURTHER! Secluded 3 Bedroom/1 Bath, thundering stream, cabin backs up onto the Pisqah National Forest with miles of US Forest Service Hiking trails right out the front door! Perfect for kids, pets and retired folks, everyone. Even a fire pit right near the creek. 300 feet from the front door of this property is the entrance to the Pisqah Natl. Forest. Hike for miles on public land right out your front door high in the North Carolina Mountains following cascading water falls which lead to the Appalachian Trail. 1200 square feet of living area. Pigeon Roost creek wraps around this secluded rental.

The cabin is in Mitchell County, NC. We stock the creek in back of the cabin with rainbow trout between June and October when we're able to get a permit. The State stocks trout in three of the creeks in the county and two of the rivers so there is plenty of fishing in the area.

Please note that we have special weekly rental rates. If you stay seven nights then one night is free. If our rental rate during peak season is $130 nightly then you are actually paying only $111.43 nightly. We also do not charge a cleaning fee. Guest are required to clean the cabin before departure by following a leaving checklist the morning of departure.

Sleep and wake to the sounds of the roaring creek. Easy access on State Maintained Paved 'Dead End' Road. Lot's of Privacy. This cabin is on the creek! National Forest behind the cabin gives lots of privacy. 3 rooms and 3 queen size pillow top beds. National Forest has many trails to hike and walk your pets. High Speed Cable WIFI Internet and Long Distance Land Line Telephone. MP3 Stereo Hookup in Living room.

You will not want to leave after spending a week here! Kids and pets love playing in the creek. We have many repeat visitors year after year.

There are dozens of cabins for rent in this area. Most are not water front, you don't have privacy and you have to drive somewhere to go hiking.

About Robert Spencer

I have been a professioal pilot for over 35 years. I flew for Alan Funt from Candid Camera, was a pilot with Eastern Airlines in Miami during the 80's, flew for the Federal Gov't for 23 years and am now retired. I have two children. My son is serving in the Air Force and my daughter in the Navy. I love the mountains, fishing, hiking and the outdoors in general. I enjoy sharing this cabin with folks that have the same interest as I. I get great pleasure reading the cabin guest book about the wonderful times hundreds of families have had over the years and their experiences. I have been renting cabins for 14 years now and know how to make your vacation rental very simple.

Robert Spencer purchased this cabin in 2004

Why Robert Spencer chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

I found this property to be very unique. It has more to offer than just a cabin in the mountains. First, it borders the Pisqah Natl. Forest which gives you thousands of acres of public land for you to hike and explore right out the front door. Second, it provides tons of enjoyment with Pigeon Roost Creek which wraps around the back of the cabin from fishing, swimming and listening to the sounds of the roaring creek. Third, you have privacy with no other cabins or homes within sight. Lot's to do in the local area. This is what getting away from it all is all about. I rented many cabins before I started renting my own. I found it was nice to be on the water, sitting on a deck looking at only mountains and being able to go out for a hike right off the property.

What makes this cabin unique

The cabin is located on a paved dead end road which gives easy access. We provide a cabin information binder at the cabin which gives you all the information you need about the cabin and the local area when you arrive. Our web site gives you plenty of information to help you decide if this cabin is right for you.

A retreat to peace and mountain air.

If your looking for peace & solitude this cabin has it.

You can sit and relax near the creek but be careful because the sound of the flowing water will put you to sleep. Take a hike following the the creek up the mountain and you'll see nature at its best. Feed the fish and at night enjoy a fire by the water. Everything you need to make it like home is provided. You can tell that the owner actually spends time there by the details of the little things provided. Will certainly return.

Blizzard of a good time 2016

  • 5 of 5

Bob thanks so much for sharing your piece of heaven with us!! We arrived to 6-8inches of snow on the ground an it continued to snow for 24 more hours with totals around the 18-20 inch mark!! Pigeon roost is absolutely beautiful in the snow! My wife and I frequent the mountains a lot an we always rent a cabin no matter where we go an pigeon roost is one of our favorites so far!! From its fully stocked kitchen to the amazing sounds of the creek this cabin really has it all!! I have trout fished all over western NC an this area is as good as it gets!! I caught some nice rainbows and Browns right around the cabin, due to the weather I could only fish short amounts of time due to the rod guides freezing solid!! I can't wait to visit again in spring and summer I highly recommend this cabin to anyone that loves the mtns. Scott & Amanda Peavy

Beautiful and Peaceful Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed for a week between the holidays and enjoyed every second of it. The location is amazing and with the rushing stream you can't hear the few cars that actually passed by. I'd spend the mornings with a cup of coffee and cigar fishing the creek (surprisingly the fishing was amazing even in the dead of winter) and then we would venture out during the day. I can not say enough about the location, it's out in the middle of the national forest yet the accessibility to local towns and even Asheville is effortless. We are already talking about another visit in the spring!

Peacefull Mountain Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed a weekend at this location in Early October. We rented it at the last minute and Bob the owner was quick and responsive to my questions. It was an easy check in and check out as well. The property is outstanding with a good sized creek running though it. The yard had a good sized grassy area along the creek for our kids to fish, play football, and throw the frisbee. There are a couple pools in the creek for swimming or floating in the summertime that hold fish. The fire-pit is ideally located and great for smores and evening fires in the crisp evenings. We visited Mt. Mitchell and spent some time Gem Mining at Emerald Village both attractions were about 45 minutes away. The cabin was cozy and had plenty of entertainment options. We had 4 adults and 2 kids and even had a friend with his 2 kids stop by for an evening and there was platy of space. On our way out we stopped at (local contact) Imma-Jeans house to purchase some Pumpkins, Fall Squash, and Dilly Beans.

The best of the mountains

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cabin for the location (remote) and for the trout stream. We live in Western North Carolina and didn't want to travel far to enjoy our Labor Day weekend. The trout stream was everything we hoped it would be. Our 12 year old son caught 4 rainbow trout the first morning we were there and we enjoyed a trout feast for supper. The cabin was roomier than I thought it would be with a good sized bathroom/laundry room. The living room had lots of comfortable seating and a great T.V. With a TV in every bedroom, we were all happy! We were impressed with the DVD library as well as the games, especially the American Special Edition of Monopoly. I loved sitting on the couch and looking out the picture window. The beds and pillows were very comfortable! The deck that overlooks the creek was a great place to have meals. It was a hot weekend and the A/C worked very well. While we were there, we tubed the Toe River in Loafer's Glory and enjoyed driving the quilt trail in Burnsville. It is easy to get turned around on the country roads, but we always found our way around without getting lost. We enjoyed driving around the mountains, following the river, and spying the barn quilts. People in the area take a lot of pride in their property. The roads were in great shape and it is paved all the way to the cabin. Very easy access. We enjoyed having a large crate to keep our dog in when we went tubing. There is also a portable crate that we borrowed one day to take her with us. We ate all of our meals at the cabin so we can't comment on any restaurants. Our stay was way too short, but we hope to be back! Many thanks to Bob for letting us have a late checkout since no one was checking in the day we left. That was a huge bonus. We all chipped in with the clean up and agreed it was well worth saving the money that most cabins charge for a cleaning fee!

Relaxation, beauty, and peace

  • 5 of 5

We just wanted to get away for a few days. Being familiar with Pigeon Roost, it seemed ideal. We were not at all disappointed. Our tour of the nearby trail was a highlight for sure. If you are a camera enthusiast, this is the ideal place to visit.
