Access: The roads are paved all of the way up to the cabin and the driveway is gravel. You will not need a 4x4 or SUV - in fact, we have driven a compact rental car up to the cabin without issue. During the winter, the roads are cleared in times of snow/ice accumulation so guests can continue to access the cabin.
Motorcycles: we have had many guests bring their motorcycles on a trailer. Some guests ride their bikes up/down the mountain, but we have heard that only experienced riders should do this because of a steep incline in the road and a tight turn.
Please contact us if you have any questions. We look forward to welcoming you home at Orion’s Crossing!

This is such a beautiful property - the design of the home is perfect for 3 couples. We had a great time relaxing on the porch, admiring the gorgeous views. The kitchen is outfitted very well, the decor is so tasteful and comfortable, and the owners even took time to make notes on how to operate the TV/DVD & telescopes. Unfortunately, we are all now completely addicted to WII bowling that we spent our evenings playing!
My grown kids and I spent a wonderful 5 days at the rental. It was located in a central area where we were able to enjoy a number of day adventures. The view from the porch was beautiful and was were we congregated every sunset. We were very secluded but not far from stores, restaurants, hiking, rafting. We spent an enjoyable day in Asheville, about a 45 minute drive. There was plenty of room, 3 separate bedrooms with queen beds. We had a great time.
My husband and I just returned to the flat land of SW Florida from our 8-night stay at Orion’s Crossing. I searched the Internet for at least 20 hours before coming across this vacation rental. Needless to say, I was rather particular about choosing a place. We expected the home to be fabulous from the pictures and reviews, but stepping into the front door took my breath away. It was so much more than we hoped for: immaculate, spacious, charming, cozy, beautiful furnishings, and completely private.
The drives up and down the mountainside were easier the second time, I must admit. By the third time, though, we felt like old pros.
Although there is enough space for many guests, we felt that the home was perfect for a relaxing, just-the-two-of-us, escape from reality. We never turned on any of the five TV sets, and that was heavenly. We spent countless hours on the deck in the very comfortable furniture listening to the breeze in the trees and bird songs, the only sounds we heard. We enjoyed every meal out on the deck. The view of the mountains is even better than the website pictures it; I believe some trees were cut back to give more sight of the surrounding mountains. No other homes or roads are visible. One early evening, a passing shower left us a rainbow that seemed less than 25 yards away, almost touchable. We caught site of a huge woodchuck that actually chucked wood for our listening pleasure one afternoon. If you love nature, this is the place to be.
Customer service from the owners was superb. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer than 8 nights. Orion’s Crossing is perfect.

This log home is spectacular!! The view is amazing!! We celebrated our anniversary here. It is centrally located, yet peaceful and secluded. Great beds and linens. There are no other homes within sight. Close to Asheville, restaurants, groceries, etc. We will absolutely rent this house again!!!! Especially loved feeding the birds and seeing the resident skunk every morning!!
This cabin is beautifully kept and clean. I would book this cabin again!
We rented this cabin for an annual girls' weekend trip and we were so impressed with this place! The views were incredible and there was plenty of room to enjoy it from the huge deck that spanned the length of the house. There's also the hot tub on the lower deck and we soaked in the view from there too. I particularly liked the décor of the cabin- and it was very spacious, yet it felt cozy. Unlike some cabins we'd rented before, this cabin had plenty of room for us to truly enjoy it. We didn't want to leave. Each bedroom was nicely decorated and the beds were very comfortable. I am a sheet snob and I thought the sheets were great! Also, the kitchen had everything you'd want for your stay if you enjoy cooking. Lastly, the owner was awesome to work with...there's nothing negative to say. Great location, great cabin! We'll be back for sure!
The cabin the view the quiet and the Snow!! We had an amazing time!
We hesitated to get in the hot tub because it was so cold out, but we did and it was awesome to relax and enjoy taking in the snow on the mountains! Snow tubing was a lot of fun also.
