Cedar Field has plenty of living area for everyone, whether you want to get together and chat, or go your separate ways. With lots of comfortable nooks and crannies, there are plenty of places to escape with a book, a sketchbook, or a laptop (free WIFI). When it's cold and rainy, you can snuggle up by the wood fireplace upstairs, or the woodstove downstairs. Stream a show on Netflix, or grab DVD from the library and pass the time with a movie. And when the weather's nice, there are simpler pleasures out on the big deck where you'll be beguiled by the amazing views of Turtleback Mountain and Crow Valley.
This bi-level gem has five bedrooms across two independent living areas and is perfect for two families or groups who want the option of a little more privacy. Head downstairs where you'll find three more comfortable bedrooms, two of which also have queen beds. Put the kids in the fifth bedroom downstairs on its two twin beds. And a big group needs lots of bathrooms; no problem. This lovely home has three full baths, one of which has a deep soaking tub where you can take turns relaxing in its bubbly warmth. There's a washer and dryer, too, so you'll always have a fresh change of clothes.
Whether you're staying upstairs or down, you'll have access to a fully equipped kitchen. Each has the requisite stove, microwave, and dishwasher you'd expect to make both meals and clean ups quick and easy. Both are roomy and have all the pots, pans, utensils and cutlery you'll need to feed your hungry clan. Enjoy your meals at the dining tables on each level. On those days when the clouds over Puget part and the skies light up with sunshine, there is a gas grill outside just waiting for your hamburgers, steaks, or salmon. And just for fun, get a blaze going in the firepit and have some fun under the Northwest sky! (Please note that wood is provided for the inside wood stove but you should bring your own wood for the outside firepit.)
When you step onto Orcas Island, you step back in time! Less developed than its neighbor, San Juan Island, the island is a sea of green filled with gorgeous red madrona trees and lush foliage. With 40 miles of trails to explore, it's a hiker and cyclist's dream! Bring the camera to the top of Mount Constitution and get some breathtaking shots. Bring your appetite to one of the many eateries in Eastsound where you'll also find some wonderful shops where you can purchase every manner of pottery or artwork. Visit the farmer's market at the nearby public park. Or, just grab the equipment right there at the home and enjoy a fun game of horseshoes, volleyball, croquet, or badminton.

Vacasa - Vacation Rentals Made Easy:
Professionally managed and cleaned homes
Local assistance 24/7 for emergencies
Secure INSTANT booking
Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.
Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.
Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!
"Dear Jesse, Our family had a fabulous week. Thank you for providing a vacation house where we could all be together. In a couple years we would like to do it again."
The house was beautiful located in nice surroundings. But there is severe water problem in this house. We did not have water for using toilets or showering. One of our friend was half way through showering when water supply stopped. No water in the kitchen to cook anything. Totally frustrating experience.
We had great trouble with water. We couldnt use the bathrooms or kitchen coz of this problem. We were provided gallons of water cans to fill up the toilet tank. So frustrating.
I emailed on 7/29 regarding issues with the Cedar Field vacation house we rented for our wedding weekend on Orcas Island. I have yet to receive a response and wanted to give Vacasa, the property manager, and/or the owner the opportunity to make things right with us before giving our honest opinion of our stay. It was our wedding weekend, we had 10 people staying at the house and as my fiancé (now wife) arrived Friday afternoon, she was told that the 12 people that had been in the house for the previous full week, had issues with the septic backing up and lack of water available in the house. The septic issue was fixed Thursday evening, we arrived Friday afternoon, yet the water pump, lack of water issue was never rectified. The lawns were also not mowed and the weeds and brush were quite overgrown. We paid a substantial amount of money for two days in the house. After our ceremony at the Labyrinth in town, we had all of our guests back at the house for a dinner celebration. Most of our guests stayed at other rental houses on the island and not one of them had any issues with the houses they rented. We asked the property manager to please provide a porta potty for Saturday evening at least, in which he said he could not get one. We had to have our caterers use bottled water to clean up dishes and we had to ask the men attending to use the woods to urinate because we were told there would be a good chance of running out of water completely if we did not use extreme caution with the use in the house. This alone was quite embarrassing! All of these things overshadow the positive attributes of the house.
We gave Vacasa and the property manager three weeks to respond with a way to "make it right" by us and have yet to hear anything. Vacasa did initially state that we would get a response from the property manager, or his manager and we never have! Had we been contacted with some sort of compromise or even a credit of sorts, we would not have posted this honest review of events that took place while renting the house.
Beautiful view from top of Mt. Constitution
This house was fantastic. I have 3kids 5,7,9 the had so much fun at this house. A sand area in the fences in garden kept them busy. They could play in the field with soccer ball or go investigate the pond. They also played in the woods in back of the house and I wasn't worried about them getting lost. I could sit in the garden and read a book while watching a pair of humming birds dive bomb each other, it was so peaceful. The house was well stocked with dishes and cook wear. The basement was cooler than the rest of the house but wood was provided and at night i made a small fire and it warmed up quickly. We saw deer and bunnies. The last night we made a fire in the fire pit and had s'mores. I really hope to rent it next year too. Its great for two family to share.
We were four-generations of Orcas pioneer family staying at multiple vacation homes with 12 of us at Cedar --- and it was perfect for us (age range 9 months to 75 years). Besides the Historical Museum in Eastsound (don't miss), we whale-watched with Eclipse Charter..marvelous with activities for the children and binocs provided for all! Picnic brunch at the top of Mt Constitution was a treat and shell fish dinner from Buck Bay seafood farm a delicious meal. Other recommendations: kayaking on Crescent Beach,` specialty libations at Island Hoppin Brewing, museli parfaits for breakfast at Enzo's, the Artworks in Olga with lunch at Catkins, dinner at Ship's Bay Inn is fabulous always.
We gathered for some meals in parks so we could all be together without overwhelming any single property, ate out some and cooked in at our various residences, too. Cedar ---was perfect for the 4 children (ages 2-12) to run off steam. A family horseshoe contest was enjoyed and lots of volleyball. Wine on the deck finished each afternoon. No issues, except be judicious with water usage. Wells are shallow and pumps don't always keep up with city-style water users..
