'Location' best describes the situation of this charming, center of town apartment located just minutes from the canals and historic old town Annecy, France. The apartment is located IN Annecy, not nearby. It's within a desirable area of Annecy referred to as The Golden Triangle. The apt. is on the convenient elevated ground floor of a 1930s building and right across the street from the weekly market. It is spacious, comfortable and correct, but not pretentious; high ceilings, charm and a private terrace. The kitchen was recently updated and is well supplied. The bathroom is new with a modern shower and vanity. Convenient wireless internet and free long distance calls to over 70 countries land line phones. Private parking lot is right outside. Our rates are priced to book the flat. For a couple or a family our goal for this apartment is to exceed your expectation.

Annecy: The Old Towne is loaded with charm! Boutiques, designer shops, galleries and cafés line the canals and the walking area near the lake. The pedestrian mall walk culminates at a modern shopping center 'Courier' and theatre complex. The train station is also next door. Grocery stores are in both the Old Towne as well as the Courier mall. All within walking range. Restaurants serve the traditional 'savoyard' dishes as well as classic french — some until the wee hours of the morning. Just minutes from the apartment is beautiful Lac Annecy and Le Paquier, the large park area with train and carousel rides. The Pacquier is host to picnics, soccer matches, events, walks, and benches to just relax and look out at the lake and surrounding mountains. A Galeries Lafayette shopping experience, along with cafeteria, post office and other shops, is a two minute walk the other direction. Close to the Old Towne, but just far enough away to feel like you are in a residential 'non-tourist' area. Voila!

Around Annecy: If you plan to stay long enough to do some day trips or have a eurrail pass, the train station is a ten minute walk. There is a TGV 'fast train' to Paris from Annecy. If you arrive by car, a space is provided for parking. If you choose to rent bicycles a locked shed is available for storage or, if you prefer, you may store them carefully in the apt. It's on an elevated ground floor, meaning about 6-7 steps above ground level. If you want to take the bus, the stop is across the street. If you want to do more sightseeing by car, however, you are about an hour from Mt. Blanc, Europe's highest peak, and the Mt. Blanc tunnel which takes you into Italy. Switzerland is 30 minutes north, the French Riviera is about a four hour drive south and the Burgundy wine area is about three hours. Albertville, Chamonix, and Grenoble, all winter Olympic hosts, are all nearby. Geneva, an incredible, historic city, is less than an hour away. Your options are limitless from this excellent location.

14 Blvd du Lycée: This apartment is a find and we bought it because we love the location, the high ceilings, the 'extra' room, and the private terrace. The apartment is comfortable and correct, but not overly pretentious or luxurious. There is a queen size bed in one bedroom, two single beds in a second and a sofa bed in the 'extra' room, which doubles as a TV/office room. There is also a portable crib. The kitchenette, while compact, is completely supplied with fridge, microwave, coffee maker, dishes and appliances. The toilet is separate from the bathroom, which has a cabin shower, sink and shelves. Towels are provided, as well as bedding. The living area is a combined living/dining room. Tall french doors open to steps to the fenced in private terrace with table, parasol and BBQ. We'll leave several brochures in different languages to help you get acclimated to Annecy and all the area offers. We're happy to talk to you in English or French. Free wireless internet. Cable TV. Hi! We're Craig and Karen Roalson. We both grew up in Iowa, (USA) and aside from living for three wonderful years in Annecy, France, we still live here. We moved to Annecy in 2002, with our two sons, 10 and 12 at the time. Our plan was to stay one year. We extended our stay to two years, then for a third! When it was time to move back to Iowa, we took a leap of faith and decided to buy an apartment so we could come back to visit the city we had so enjoyed. It's been a lot of fun getting to meet people from all over and help them to have a nice stay in Annecy.

Why Karen Roalson chose Annecy - Lake Annecy area

Upon moving to France we didn't know where we would be located. When we arrived in Annecy, we immediately saw how fortunate we were. Annecy is in the Rhone-Alpes area of France which is a beautiful area, just about 30-40 minutes south of Geneva, Switzerland. The Olde Towne in Annecy is charming and there is always something going on around the lakefront. We felt like we knew the town well and knew what kind of location would be best. We fell in love with this apartment's location, the little garden area, and the traditional French windows and high ceilings.

What makes this apartment unique

When visiting Annecy people know about the Olde Towne, the lake, and the shopping. This apartment is close to all three and renters do not have to sacrifice space for location. It's quite spacious, including a garden area. There are also two bakeries nearby.

  • Typical French bathroom set-up. The toilet is separate. Makes it easier if there are several people sharing the apt. The apt. has a new shower and vanity. There is shelving and personal storage containers for six people. The radiator is also a towel warmer.

Notes:
There is a TV/Office room separate from the Living/Dining areas. The television is in this room as well as a desk which can be used for an office area. Wireless internet is provided. This is also the room with a full-size sofa bed/futon that is the optional third bedroom. It's nice that the TV/office is in a separate room from the Living/Dining areas. If part of a group wants to watch TV, or do office work, the other part of the group can still relax in the Living room area and carry on conversation without the distraction of the TV or bothering the person working. This is a spacious apartment, and with the private terrace, you don't feel crowded. But it's also great for a couple to feel pampered with some extra space. There is an iron/ironing board in the hall closet. There is a raclette maker on top of the refrigerator. The apartment is well stocked. There are also two table fans and one floor fan.

Very nice flat with a perfect location, comfortable and well equipped

The flat is very spacious even more than shown in the pictures. The lake and the center of the town are 10 minute walk. Supermarket very near. The kitchen is very well equipped . Perfect flat if you are traveling with children.

Great apartment! Great host! Great location!

3 friends stayed here in September 2015. We found the apartment well suited to our needs. We used the den with convertible sofa as a 3rd bedroom and it worked fine. The apartment is clean, well (but not lavishly) appointed, and fairly spacious. The property manager was attentive, and the owner's recommendation on car service from Geneva was great. We contracted with the driver to take us to Mt. Blanc for a day, which worked well. A grocery is nearby, as are numerous bakeries and wine shops. The old district is barely a five minute walk, and it was nice to stay a bit removed from it in a less touristy area.

Relaxing in Annecy

We really enjoyed our stay in Annecy and the apartment was perfect. It was easy to locate and having parking included was really nice. Coming at the end of a 3 week hiking trip, this was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the local restaurants, small nearby villages and the old town. Everything went smoothly with the owner. All transactions were easily managed and Karen was very helpful with local restaurant suggestions. The local manager, Steve was also very helpful. The kitchen and bath remodel are nice updates and the apartment is very spacious with lots of charm. The owner also accommodated us when we had friends stop by one night for a visit. It was nice to have all the basics; spices, paper products, cooking utensils, etc. The Welcome packet was very thorough. We arrived on a Saturday and went to the market conveniently located across the street to purchase local fresh food and necessities. Saturday was also a very busy day in the old town with outside venders and many people shopping. It was a bit overwhelming coming from quite mountain villages, but fun people watching. We were grateful that the crowds diminished the following days allowing for quiet walks in the old town and many photo opportunities. Thanks you!

A wonderful home base in Annecy

The apartment is in a wonderful location. Walking distance to the beach, old town, and local amenities like grocery stores, banks, and pharmacies. It's also a great apartment. Clean, well-decorated, and spacious. It was a great home base for our family, including our two young children. The new bathroom is great. It had everything we needed to cook and relax around the house, and the parking was great for easy accessibility to our car for day-trips. We will definitely be back!

Annecy is a beautiful town located in the Haute Savoie, with a lake that is one of the cleanest in Europe. 35 minutes from Geneva airport/10 minute walk from Annecy train station. Flowers are all along the canals in the summer making for a picture perfect vacation.

Progressive discounts for two week and longer rentals. Monthly rates are based on a four week stay. The cleaning fee provides for fresh hotel linens and towels and more in-depth cleaning. There is still basic cleaning that is required by renters. To avoid misunderstanding it is also listed here as well as at the apartment:
KITCHEN
— Clean and put away all dishes and pans, etc. If the dishwasher is running a cycle when you leave, that is fine. Wipe off the countertops, stovetop and microwave. If you used the oven and baking spilled over, it needs to be cleaned. If you spilled in the refrigerator, please clean up.

— Remove everything from the refrigerator. Remove all perishable food. Non-perishables such as spices, tea, coffee, oil, unopened jars and/or cans may be left in the cupboards.

BATHROOM
— Check that you have removed all personal items from the shower, sink and the shelving.

GENERAL
— Do a general clean up. Wipe off tables, sweep floors, return items to their original places. Cleaning cloths and supplies are provided..

— All radiators returned to “auto” and “snowflake” position.

GARBAGE
— Empty all the garbage. Garbage and Plastic/Paper recycle bins are in the parking lot. Garbage MUST be bagged before placing in the GREY bins. Plastic/Paper go directly in the YELLOW bins. Glass may either be bagged with garbage or recycled separately. A glass recycling bin is located on the far side of the park across the street marked VERRE.

PATIO
— If used, return covers back on items. Charcoal ashes need to be bagged for garbage and the grates need to be cleaned with the grill brush.

KEYS
— Two sets of keys are provided to guests. Leave one set in the bowl on the hallway dresser. Lock the apartment and return the second set of keys to the lockbox using the code you received upon arrival. Check to insure the lockbox is securely locked.
