About Christine

My husband Michael and myself purchased the property when it had a little rustic cottage on it that we used for a couple of years as a family. We decided to remodel it and start sharing it with other families wanting to visit "up north". We have enjoy meeting families since 2008 and each year since, watching families experience togetherness...this has been our goal; bringing families together for memories that will last a lifetime.

Christine purchased this cottage in 1997

What makes this cottage unique

I feel the best part of Bass Lake is the size. It's large enough to enjoy many water activities yet small enough to not have all the loud noise of the larger lakes. You can experience quiet surroundings, amazing stars and the beauty of nature that's all around you. You can use all 5 senses to the fullest...sight, sound, touch, smell and taste. Something that is hard to find unless you're relaxed with family in a peaceful place you can call yours for the week...Hidden Gem Cottage, Relax and leave your busy life at home.

Great Vacation

  • 5 of 5

My family hasn't had this much fun in a very long time. I couldn't have asked for a better time. We visited little shops in the area, had dinner in good restaurants. The best time was just being together having fun. The cottage was absolutely beautiful inside and out. The cottage was so clean the owners have really paid attention to all the little details, I can't think of anything they've missed. My kids loved playing in the sand and water with all the toys and floaties. The hammock was a life saver for my youngest, she took a nap in it. The paddle boat, row boat, raft, hot tub, fire pit your never bored, this place has it all...words just can't say enough about how great this place is. I definately will come again and I'm telling my family and friends."

Best Rental we have had so far!

  • 5 of 5

The property was as listed or better. Very clean and it this was not just a cottage but really felt like a well maintained home. Christine and Michael are the most gracious hosts. All the little extra touches they did to make us feel welcome and we surely did! They go above and beyond and not just your normal rental. It was one of the most peaceful and relaxing vacations I have been on. Buds was fun, played putt putt across the street. I am not much of a tourist attraction type person but in Traverse City SlabTown was the best burger place by far and if you are looking some delicious ice cream going to Moomers farm was a treat. A little trip to Leelanau was also fun for me and my hubby to get away from the kids. Truely is a Hidden Gem! One I would revisit time and again.

Wonderful, relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I and our 2 kids (9 and 10 years old) had a great vacation at the Hidden Gem! The house and property are extremely well maintained and spotlessly clean.

The kids loved everything about the lake! The slide, the boats, the beach! And we loved having a fire and s'mores every night. We also had a great time going to Mackinac Island for a day, Sleeping Bear dunes for a day, and to a Traverse City Beach Bums game. My kids said this vacation tied with a Disney vacation! Christine was great to work with and quickly responded to any questions. We could not have been happier! Highly recommend it!
