Why Mark Lissaman chose Aldeburgh

We fell in love with this house in 2005 and for most of the next decade it was our bolt-hole from London. We have now moved to Suffolk full time and while we think of this a private cottage rather than a business we have now started to rent it out.

Very happy memories of Aldeburgh, and the times spent here as a couple and later as a family with young kids.

Lovely little cottage with garden. Close to the beach and shops and cafes of the high street.

We loved the cottage overall and enjoyed eating breakfast outside in the sunlight. Inside the sofas were comfy and we enjoyed Othello, a game we had never payed before. The table was good for playing games and for eating on and got the sunlight from the window. My husband found the stairs a bit steep but not insurmountable, though an older couple might have struggled. We had no problems accessing the property and we enjoyed the location, which was close to the beach and the shops and cafes, and, not forgetting, the amazing fish and chips shop!

Areas for improvement:

The wifi drove us mad with frustration, it was SO slow. This wouldn't have bothered us if there had been a working television, but the TV player was only for DVDs. We wanted to watch the BBC news and had to use an iPad, which, in the end, we had to give up on.

We found the bed a bit soft and could have done with a bigger bin in the kitchen and some clear instructions about what to do with the rubbish; I did separate the recycling but wasn't sure what to do with it. But there were lots of lovely books and leaflets about the surrounding area and the towels were wonderful and plentiful. Thank you for a lovely introduction to Aldeburgh.

It's Aldeburgh, if you are looking at this listing you probably already know the deal. If not, it's what a 1950 seaside town should have been like.
