Excellent Cottage, Amazing Hospitality

  • 5 of 5

Booking online, sight unseen, can be risky and at times you aren't really sure what you're going to get. We had never been to St John, didn't know the area and wasn't really sure what to prepare ourselves for. I can say staying at this location, Sol Cottage, was the best choice we could have made hands down. James went above and beyond to make our trip special and accommodating. Upon arrival, we had snacks and treats waiting for us after a long day of traveling and a clean, cozy cottage for us to call home for the next few days. It sets outside of the hectic hustle and bustle of Cruz Bay and is nestled in the natural vegetation of the island. James has made the property welcoming and easy on the eyes. The bed was better than any hotel bed I've paid 3 times the amount to sleep in and the kitchenette had everything we needed. A TV and wifi worked great for a habitual wind down for my wife and I and let us communicate back to the mainland without having to worry about phone service. We have already discussed plans to come back to St. John and stay here again. I can't say enough good things about this property or James, as it hit the spot for our perfect little getaway. Before you go and spend considerably more to stay in one of the resorts, check this place out first, you'll be glad you did.

Sol Cottage

I viewed many places in this price range and was so glad I chose this place for my girlfriend and myself for our week stay. Very clean, very quiet and well kept. James was very nice...answered any questions that we had. He also had a snack for us when we arrived, which was greatly appreciated because we had a long day of plane rides to get to St. Thomas and we didn't have time to eat much. He also went out of his way to mail my girlfriends necklace back to us after she left it on the coffee table.

I agree with anyone who posted 5 stars...I would give it 6 if I could.

I would definitely stay again at this cottage if my travels brings me back. I would also rent from James if I were to bring other family members which would require a bigger place to stay.

Perfect and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

This place was fantastic. It was a quiet corner of the island with only a 10-15 minute drive to town. We spent most of our days out exploring the island and then looked forward to returning to the cottage for an outside shower and dinner. The beach towels, chairs and coolers were a nice added bonus. James gave us plenty of privacy but was there if we needed anything. Would strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to stay.

We absolutely loved staying here. The cottage is in a great quiet location, away from town but not to far. It is clean and has everything you need to cook meals , relax, and get a great night's sleep for busy days of exploring. The small kitchen area has a 2 burner hot plate, toaster oven, micro wave, coffee maker, and small refrigerator. Outside is a great Weber grill. Marc provides beach chairs and coolers. The best part was hearing the frogs and tropical wildlife outside with all the windows open. The bed was comfy, shower was great and we would definitely recommend Sol Cottage for your stay

Quaint and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I rented Sol Cottage for our first trip to St. John. The cottage was as pictured: neat and cozy. No kitchen but a grill and fridge-- pretty much what we needed for beach snacks and keeping food bug free. We were greeted by the owner's sweet little dog each day, and the owner was friendly and informative but also gave us plenty of privacy. The cottage is conveniently located to several beaches. The owner, Marc, provided beach chairs and a cooler, coffee pot for morning brew. There's an AC in the loft bedroom but we never needed it. The cottage gets nice cross-wind breezes and the sound of the palm trees outside the windows is awesome. We loved the outdoor shower too! A great experience. We will definitely return.

Great place

Nice cottage. New. Up to date. Cool shower. Nice having beach chairs and cooler to use. Peaceful area of St John but short drive to Cruz Bay and beaches. Owner is easy to deal with. Quick to respond. We had no issues. We plan to go back.
