Caniparola, the fraction most populous municipality of Fosdinovo is placed on the hills near the sea in northern Tuscany, on the border with Liguria which is separated from the river Magra, in this last stretch down to the river port for pleasure boats.

Less than three kilometers from the exit of Sarzana, four kilometers from the sea, this resort is close to the Gulf of La Spezia, Cinque Terre, Versilia and the marble quarries of Carrara, reached in less than an hour from Lucca, Pisa and its airport, an hour from Genoa and Parma, in just over an hour from Florence and two hours from Milan and Bologna.

Caniparola Fosdinovo is located in the heart of Lunigiana, border land rich in castles and fortifications, sung by Dante Alighieri which domain undisputed Marchesi Malaspina feudal lords of the Holy Roman Empire with full powers until the fall of Napoleon.

The territory of Caniparola, until the first half of the twentieth century was fully allocated to agriculture by the same name already Fattoria dei Marchesi Malaspina; in addition to scattered farmhouses in the countryside, all strictly in stone or pink, the only facilities in the area were the eighteenth century Villa Malaspina with the beautiful Italian garden and the architectural office of the Arch of the stables and garrisons, with adjoining small chapel still recognizable in the external facade.
