My family has been vacationing in the Pocono Mountains for years and wanted to experience Vermont for a change. We searched and immediately were drawn to Holly’s Cabin. The whole process was communicated with Holly via email. Our goal was to get into the cold with superior ski/snow conditions and that’s what we got. As we approached the house, we were amazed at how beautiful the surrounding area was once we passed through the village of Stowe. Our arrival was amazing; the house is visible from the road and is nestled behind large evergreen trees covered with snow. It was truly a great experience pulling up to the house for the first time. Snow covered the house and icicles hung off the front porch. Lights were on and the house was cozy warm inside. Once inside, we were completely amazed at how well maintained the house was. The fireplace was perfect for keeping warm and cozy. The next day, we ventured out onto the property. This is where we witnessed some of the most spectacular nature views I’ve ever experienced. The house was well equipped with sheets, towels and cooking essentials. The house has a very unique outside hot tub that completely took away the pains created during a challenging day at Stowe Mountain Ski Resort. At night the temperatures dropped down to -16 but the house was warm inside lead by the most efficiently working Fireplace I’ve ever experienced. We were sad to leave such a beautiful place after our 4 day stay but will be back again in the future. The entire stay, I didn’t think of work and didn’t use my cell, which I realize on my drive home. We found our perfect Stowe log cabin in the woods and would recommend it to anybody who wants to get away with family.
Some reviewers used words like 'fairy tale' and 'magical', and I couldn't agree more! You can sense that the house, both inside and all its surroundings, are very special to the owner and are meticulously taken care of. It simply a great place. We had a great time with our grandparents and young children. Holly provided a pack & play and a high chair for the toddler, and the kids loved exploring the ducks, bears and other animals throughout the house. I would definitely recommend this place!
We had a great stay at Holly's cabin. The big open living room/kitchen with a great fireplace was a great spot to hang out with a big group. We'd definitely come back!
Great place, great time, looking forward to staying there again!
I imagine the hostess as the grandmother character out of a fairy tale who has opened her cabin set in the woods to give her guests a true experience of cozy comfort & delight. My family had an amazingly perfect winter time (5 night) stay. We were utterly comfortable. The house is well heated & insulated so no cold drafts! During the day our college age kids skied at Stowe, a 25 min drive without ski vacation traffic but plan 1hr in Xmas ski season. The nearest well stocked super market is 5-6 miles away. We spent many an hour sitting in the tv free living room reading in front of a lovely fire in the impressive stone fire place or indulging in a large and deep wooden hot tub outside with the snow falling down on us. The layout of the house is fabulous as it offered ample space to hang as a family be it in the living room, or at the large sized dining table, or while making food in the very well stocked kitchen. When we wanted to be more separate from one another that worked too. For example our kids would often retreat to the fabulous rec room downstairs to play pool, ping-pong, or to watch a movie on the tv there. The bedrooms are removed and quiet. There is also a tv in the ground floor master bedroom with its own full bath. As someone who likes to walk I headed out the front door for several magical strolls on the property and down some of the classic Vermont dirt roads surrounding the home. While another guest review complained that the beds were too soft, I actually sensed the host intentionally put extra memory foam and stacks of comforters on the beds to really go all out in making her guests feel like Goldie Locks when she finally discovered the softest bed and fell deeply asleep. The internet was very slow but given we were there to "get away from it all" this was not an issue for our family. Because of the many knickknacks throughout the house this is probably not the best home to have toddlers in or if your aesthetic is modern minimal. The house is very clean, and well organized with plenty of blankets, towels, and clean bathrobes near the hot tub. It snowed heavily during our stay but the driveway and surrounding roads were timely plowed allowing us safe travel. There is a caretaker who was responsive and helpful when I called with a few simple questions. The host also is very responsive. We highly recommend staying here!
My family and I just spent the most magical week at Holly Cabin (Finistere). It is perfectly named as it truly feels to be where the world ends and calm and relaxation begin. As we sat in the hot tub under the stars and just talked and laughed for hours on end, I realized all I had been missing with my crazy schedule. The home is obviously loved and each piece in it seems to want to tell you its story... The beds are so comfortable, they feel like a hug. The appliances are all new, the water so pristine and Mother Nature was in her splendid glory everywhere. I can't wait to go back in the winter and in the summer to see how this slice of heaven transforms with the seasons. Thank you Holly for creating such a special place where my family and I can find amongst ourselves that which matters most, each other.
