This cozy cottage is situated twenty feet from the shoreline of quiet Dyer Long Pond in Jefferson, ME. Closed in the winter, this quiet retreat offers a rustic pine interior with all the amenities needed to enjoy your Maine vacation. Near the lower half of the lake, the cottage is nestled in dense pine and oak trees. The lake is quiet with very little power boating and is more geared towards canoeing and kayaking. It is a nature lovers spot with good chances of siting ospreys, bald eagles, beavers, turtles, loons, and many other bird species. Cottage is 15-min from the Mid-coast of Maine. Explore Damariscotta and the Penobscot bay areas for antiquing and outdoor pursuits. Close to area lighthouses and maritime museums, Pemaquid point one of the most photographed lighthouses in Maine is 27 miles. We were just highlighted as a kayaking destination in Maine's Sunday Telegram.
During peak summer months June-Aug the rate is 800 a week or 125$ a night. For may and fall months the rate is 700 a week, 100 a night. There is a 3 night minimum and I do offer discounts for long stays of 2 weeks or more (i have rented for a month before). Ask about discounts for the fall, good rates for multiweek and week stays depending on availability.
waterfront: there is 200 feet of private waterfront w/new aluminum dock (2010) and float for swimming. The futon in the camp is brand new this year 2011.
pictures: please e-mail or call me for additional pictures, I can get them too you via e-mail quickly
Sheepscott golf course is 15 minutes.
Come stay in the fall and use my camp for your base for leaf viewing in the fall. The fall is an awesome time to visit Dyerlong Cottage because the crowds are gone, traffic is better, the stove is cozy, and theres nothing better then kayaking on the glass lake w/orange and red leaves reflecting off the water. Fall can be spectacular. Read my reviews, ask me for more pictures, you wont be let down, I've never received anything but positive feedback from my renters...except maybe about the bugs! but that's all of Maine.

About Lucas Martin
From Bangor Maine orginally, now living in Dover, NH. I know the surrounding area well and can help guide you in your vacation plans. If it's a quite mellow stay put type of vacation or you want to hit the surrounding towns I can help. I personally have fished the pond, explored the nooks and crannies for wildlife (loons, ospreys, alewives, beavers, snapping and painter turtles, blue heron, haws, bald eagles). I know where many of these animals nest and can offer tips to spot them. On the other side I have my personal favorites and recommendations for eats in Damariscotta and other worthwhile day trips. For example you can spend 100$ on dinner for 2 in damariscotta for lobster or spend 40 on 2 lobster rolls. Which if you want to do thats fine. Or you can swing by the fishermans catch in downtown Damariscotta grab 4 lobsters for 40$ and cook them at the camp while you eat out on the deck and listen to the loons and watch the sunset!! my preference. Also if you look at my reviews you'll see i'm really easy to get ahold of, and don't mind fielding any questions or calls during your stay. Enjoy. Maine the way life should be

Quiet get-a-way with great fishing...a hidden paradise!
Great quiet location for fishing with provided canoe. Enjoyed getting away from it all and especially people! :) Ample amount of split wood provided for stove, just have to cut down your own a bit and gather some kindling next to the camp to get 'er going. Pretty cool steep driveway, but I'm used to it being a home-grown country boy. A little dusty for the wife, so I did a little clean up initially, but hey it's a camp what do you expect. Totally loved our stay here and would return or recommend for a rustic get-a-way for sure!!! Lucas was extremely helpful with any questions I had and was very responsive. Thanks Lucas, we are looking forward to coming back to Maine down the road!
Exactly as described.
The quiet of September, August day time temps, a glass like lake for kayaking and two pretty close encounters with an eagle. Who needs the internet or cell phones?
The place was great with amazing views. Perfect getaway!
Quiet spot for a relaxing vacation or adventures beyond
This is a nice spot, on a quiet lake, in my favorite part of Maine, the mid-coast. We enjoyed cooking meals outside on the grill, kayaking and canoeing, and exploring the nearby towns on Newcastle, Damariscotta, Bath and Brunswick. This really is an ideal spot for either a relaxing cabin trip on the lake or for adventures beyond the cabin. The Hidden Valley Nature Center is minutes away, with extensive hiking trails, including a unique boardwalk path into the bog where carnivorous plants can be seen. Damariscotta is also close by with plenty of shopping and restaurant options. Thanks for a great visit.
Perfect lakefront Maine camp. Clean, tidy and all supplies in place.
The camp is on a lovely, quiet lake that gets little traffic an idyllic, peaceful place. Great kitchen wear is there - made it easy to prepare meals. The cabin was spotlessly clean and had a wall of windows overlooking the lake. Great place to sit and drink my coffee in the morning. Wood stove had great draft and generous supply of wood. We enjoyed fires every evening. Kayaks and canoe were wonderful addition to the camp. Easy to get in and out of lake. In summary, perfect camp experience. Wish we were closer so could enjoy it again.
The property was superb--quiet, well-appointed and comfortable. The lake was very beautiful and we saw lots of wildlife. Our dogs loved it and our setter particlarly enjoyed the swimming. Although the property is a little isolated, it is not too far to civilization in the beautiful Maine towns of Damariscotta and Wiscasset. We have stayed in Maine for about seven years in a row and this rental was the best. The owner was very helpful and accommodating.
Jefferson is conveniently located fifteen minutes from Damariscotta in mid-coastal Maine. Within 45 min. of other coastal communities such as Wiscasset, Boothbay and Camden/Rockport areas. These areas are great for antique shopping, dining and exploring the Maine coast. Light houses, nature preserves, maritime museums, historic forts, recreational areas, and coastal beaches are all within an hours drive. The Common Ground Fair (end of September) is a popular agricultural event within 30 minutes. Jefferson is also easily accessed from I-95 in Augusta in 30 min. Enjoy whale watching and ferries to nearby coastal islands. Closest seafood/lobster market is the Fishermans Catch Seafood Market on maine st. in Damariscotta (207) 563-5888.
