From the lovely caretakers, to the tranquil setting, to the fantastic architecture, this place has been our favorite place to stay so far on VBRO. No detail overlooked. We decided this is our official family getaway. The commercial grade kitchen is perfect for chefs and there are so many lovely places to relax. The upstairs outdoor swinging bed, poolside, the fantastic breezeway between living areas, or even a picnic on the hillside overlooking the property.
I've been to events at the Plant and stayed there twice. Sometimes, after multiple trips to a venue, the magic wears off, but that has never been my experience at the Plant. Even though we had a rainy weekend, it was lovely with the big porch and cozy fire pit and fireplace. There's room for guests to hang out together and getaway into their own space (even in the rain). The pool is wonderful (the kids got in despite the chill) and every room is beautifully appointed (especially the kitchen which has everything you might need). I couldn't recommend any venue more highly (and I am pretty picky).
We just spent New Year's Eve at The Plant and it was wonderful. The building is absolutely stunning and the architecture served as an inspiring backdrop to our entire weekend. We traveled with two families and five children. The kids were so stimulated by the space, they drifted off into a three-hour free play involving a "boat" (made from old tin wash tubs) on the screened-in porch and a "hotel" (made from pillows) on the balcony and swing. They all loved the fire pits and the indoor fireplace. The highlight of our time was a nature walk with property managers Martha and Jamie. Jamie showed the kids fossils all along the roads right outside The Plant and the kids visited a dry creek bed to identify rocks and explore. Jamie and Martha offer this walk as well as a stargazing tour for a very reasonable additional cost. It was a fabulous holiday and we will definitely do it again. One word of warning: there was a toddler in our group (15 months old) and she required constant supervision on the porch because of the open staircase and near the pool. But the supervision was well worth the extraordinary architecture!

We found The Plant based on a friend's recommendation as a possible wedding venue. We could not have been happier with how it turned out. Because the property is also a home, we were able to rent it for the entire weekend so that we could relax with friends and family before, during, and after the wedding. This meant that we didn't have to rush to load/unload for the event (which was SO relaxing).
The owners and the property managers were all absolutely wonderful to work with. They were prompt, friendly, and professional. We didn't have any trouble with our guests and vendors finding the location (they provided excellent diretions), but we did put up some temporary road signs to help friends find their way.
The space itself is striking. I would recommend the property for anyone who is looking for an architecturally beautiful place to stay or hold an event.
We traveled to Austin for a family vacation and to see the F-1 races. This place was perfect for all our needs. We fit three generations nicely into the 3 rooms and with the screened area there was plenty of public vs private space for all. Owner provided several books by the architects, which were great to look through. Responses to questions were always returned promptly. Caretakers that live next door are very pleasant and helpful.
Located between the charming Hill Country towns of Kyle and Wimberley, The Plant at Kyle is 30 miles from downtown Austin, easily accessible by either I-35 or Mopac.
