A unique and intimate place on a beautiful property

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a surreal extended weekend with friends and family at the Plant around our wedding. We never imagined we'd find a place as ideal as the Plant to suit our needs - I grew up in Austin and have always been enchanted by the Texas hill country. We now live in Seattle and had hoped to find someplace where we could settle in and enjoy quality time rather than rush to prepare and clean up on either end of our wedding. The Plant delivered in every respect - our wedding was really a DIY and community affair, and we never felt hurried throughout the set up or clean up. It provided so many communal spaces for our guests, and a perfect backdrop and setting. I'm an industrial designer and my husband is builder, and many of our friends are part of our extended creative community, so it was a real treat to invite them to such an architecturally significant place, and share a scenic part of the world that we love so much. Despite threats of thunderstorms all day, we had a beautiful afternoon and evening on our wedding date, followed by a spectacular thunderstorm that we enjoyed from the porch late at night, and an amazing sunny swim in the pool the next day. The Plant truly accommodates all variables! The caketakers, Martha and Jamie, were especially kind, helpful, and genuine. They were prompt to respond to our needs, and offered thoughtful advice on directions, weather, and the property. We are eager to return someday.

Owner's Response: We owners and caretakers feel much the same sentiments ourselves! We, too, never imagined that we'd find a place as ideal as the Plant to share with folks like you and your families!

The perfect backdrop for our intimate wedding!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at The Plant for 4 nights, and we were married in the middle of our stay. The venue itself is impressive and of course gorgeous, but the logistics of The Plant made for an easy and relaxing wedding experience. I would highly recommend arriving a few days early and staying an extra day or two. We had plenty of time to set-up, host rehearsal and dinner there, and had an extra day to relax and enjoy the pool and property before heading back home. Thank you for an unforgettable experience, and we can't wait to return someday to re-live it all again!

Ultimate Texas Getaway

  • 5 of 5

From the lovely caretakers, to the tranquil setting, to the fantastic architecture, this place has been our favorite place to stay so far on VBRO. No detail overlooked. We decided this is our official family getaway. The commercial grade kitchen is perfect for chefs and there are so many lovely places to relax. The upstairs outdoor swinging bed, poolside, the fantastic breezeway between living areas, or even a picnic on the hillside overlooking the property.

Unique getaway that feels both grand and intimate!

  • 5 of 5

I've been to events at the Plant and stayed there twice. Sometimes, after multiple trips to a venue, the magic wears off, but that has never been my experience at the Plant. Even though we had a rainy weekend, it was lovely with the big porch and cozy fire pit and fireplace. There's room for guests to hang out together and getaway into their own space (even in the rain). The pool is wonderful (the kids got in despite the chill) and every room is beautifully appointed (especially the kitchen which has everything you might need). I couldn't recommend any venue more highly (and I am pretty picky).

Our wonderful stay at The Plant

  • 5 of 5

We just spent New Year's Eve at The Plant and it was wonderful. The building is absolutely stunning and the architecture served as an inspiring backdrop to our entire weekend. We traveled with two families and five children. The kids were so stimulated by the space, they drifted off into a three-hour free play involving a "boat" (made from old tin wash tubs) on the screened-in porch and a "hotel" (made from pillows) on the balcony and swing. They all loved the fire pits and the indoor fireplace. The highlight of our time was a nature walk with property managers Martha and Jamie. Jamie showed the kids fossils all along the roads right outside The Plant and the kids visited a dry creek bed to identify rocks and explore. Jamie and Martha offer this walk as well as a stargazing tour for a very reasonable additional cost. It was a fabulous holiday and we will definitely do it again. One word of warning: there was a toddler in our group (15 months old) and she required constant supervision on the porch because of the open staircase and near the pool. But the supervision was well worth the extraordinary architecture!

Plant @ Kyle

Mark........great property.........had very nice time. Interesting how a Lake/Flato designed facility matches many of their projects we've been involved in over the years. And your neighbor Jaime was very informative while taking us on a nature walk. Thanks for sharing.

Hope to return in the near future.

Owner's Response: We love having architect guests associated with Lake|Flato! Caretaker Jamie is a master naturalist who loves to share his knowledge and we're all so fortunate!
