Capture the Best of Both the Ocean and the Bay - In this magnificently appointed Fenwick Island, Delaware, beach vacation rental house you can watch sunsets from this front and rear decks of this home. You can launch our 4 kayaks, one canoe and 6 paddle boards from our private dock. Paddling for only 10-15 minutes you can dock at 4 restaurants for breakfast, lunch or just for drinks. Or you can tie your own boat(s) to our dock.
Multiple Spaces - We believe that our Sunset Home is one of the best beach vacation rental homes in Fenwick island for large, AND small groups. Our award-winning architect specifically designed the home to comfortably accommodate multiple family’s large groups who need multiple spaces for simultaneous and diverse activities, as well as privacy. The home has 8 such places – pool area, hot tub deck, 4 decks, a computer nook, and a sitting area next to the living room. Of course, this does not include the ocean and sitting on the dock which are perfect for hanging out with a special family member or friend.
With this variety of gathering spaces, soft conversations and loud TV/music and soft conversations do not conflict.
Our heated pool is one of only 5 rental homes with pools in Fenwick, and three of them are ours. As the photos show our pool is on the bay offering great water access and views, allows the use of our paddle boards, kayaks and canoe and dock. The pool deck has picnic tables. And adjacent to the pool, there is a large outdoor shower and in on one corner of the pool deck is the rear den with a wet bar and mini refrigerator where you can keep beverages cold and easily accessible.
Further, the home has the number of beds, showers, furniture, and kitchen space/utensils and open space to provide the essentials that offer both a large number or small number of guests with both optimal privacy and gathering spots for a memorable vacation.
The top floor master suite has two separate mini-split AC/heat units and the living room has two more units allowing you to separately regulate the temperature of each unit from the rest of the home.
The home also has the amenities to help create one of your best vacations ever- heated pool, hot tub, entertainment items including a 55 in 4K LCD, and 5 other LCD TVs, 4 kayaks, a canoe, and 6 paddle boards, a veritable flotilla.
Accommodating Your Large Group-We have plenty of everything you need
The kitchen size and cooking accessories are critical to having a fun vacation. Designed for large groups, this Chef's Kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals for large groups. The kitchen is large enough for a chef and 4 or more sous chefs. Your cooking preparation will be supported with two sinks, two fridges, expansive countertops, and a large array of utensils and pots and pans. The kitchen is located on the top floor open space, so you are connected to your gang while you prepare meals. Besides the two fridges in the kitchen we have a third fridge in the garage near the front door, so you can store beverages you take to the beach in it.
On the deck next to the kitchen there are 2 gas BBQs. You can eat in the dining room, on the BBQ deck, the kitchen bar, pool deck or, the front deck which has a panoramic view of the water. To support your evening al fresco dinner party on the top front deck, we have plenty of seating and will "order you up" a spectacular sunset.
The Sunset house comfortably sleeps your large gang with 7 sleeping options-3 king, master suites; 1 contains a soaking tub & an extra-large walk-in shower with 2 shower heads. Another bedroom has 2 sets of bunks and private vanity and walk in shower; a hall bedroom with 2 queens, 1 queen bed in rear den; and the living room has a day bed. The den bedroom and queen bedroom share a hall bath with a shower and double vanity.
There is off-street parking for 6 cars at the home. We supply parking passes if you want to park your car at the beach dunes. Or you can transport your stuff to the beach in our two Wonder Wheel Beach Caddies that can carry all your beach gear, munchies and drinks.
Please note: to better understand the home layout there is a floor plan for the home in the photo section on this Homeaway site.
The Quiet, UN-Crowded Beach of Fenwick Island-
The Fenwick beach is amazingly less crowded and quiet compared to the beaches in Ocean City and Bethany Beach. Typically, Fenwick's beach has up to 70% less people on it compared to Bethany and Ocean City. (See how UN-crowded Fenwick's beach is in comparison to Bethany's in the contrasting photos on this site, taken on the same day and time, 11:30 AM, July 4, 2015). Fenwick is called the Quiet Resort. The Fenwick beach was replenished in the fall of 2016, so it is extremely wide unlike that of Bethany beach.
Your Family/Group Will Surely Have Fun When They Stay in this Rental Home-
You can swim in our private pool all day in the ocean and return to the heated pool (extra fee for heat) for a dip before dinner. You will be equipped for adventure travel with our 6 paddle boards, 8 bikes, 4 kayaks (one a double), and 1 canoe. You can launch the paddle boards, canoe and kayaks from our private dock, or just catch crabs and skip rocks across the water from the dock.
The home is within easy walking distance to many restaurants (one a James Beard award winner), coffee shops, clothing and book shops, 3 mini golf courses, water slide and a go cart track.
Use our 8 bikes to explore the "island" and/or to go to Kohr's for a delicious custard cone, pick up the morning paper, bagels and/or donuts, or just enjoy being mobile. Go to our ResortPointe.com site blog for our reviews of restaurants and recommended attractions and specials.
The town hall (3 blocks away) has an almost brand-new playground for children, a basketball half-court, and a shuffle board court and a picnic area. Plus, a large amusement park is just a few miles away as well as two boardwalks, and the Freeman Stage entertainment venue (also reviewed in our resort pointe blog). And for the off season, we have a see-through gas fireplace, cozy sofa blankets and tear-jerking old DVD movies.
Where is the Fun ?
A 5-minute walk takes you to the Sea Discover Museum which houses artifacts from sunken ships in the area. If you are lucky they will bring out a 50-pound gold "necklace" found in a sunken Spanish ship. You can visit the 250-year-old town, Lewes, smaller than Rehoboth but a good day trip...very quaint.
You can take a fishing charter out at the Indian River marina for a half or full day. And a 5-minute car ride takes you across the bay where you can rent a boat or jet skis.
A 30-minute ride from the home takes you to Rehoboth Beach-the town is much larger than Bethany and Fenwick and boasts many shopping and dining options, and it has a three-mile boardwalk, and an amusement park. There are also fabulous sales tax-free outlet shopping at 140 Outlet stores. And in another 30 minutes you can tour Dog Fish Head Brewery.
The Fun Corner in Fenwick, a ten-minute walk, on the intersection of Rt. 1 and Rt. 54, has many fun activities and food for adults and kids- go carts, water slides, mini golf and Fisher’s caramel corn.
The Discovery Sea Museum in Fenwick, a 5-minute walk from the home, has recovered treasure and artifacts from ship wrecks. You can take a short walk on the DE Seashore Park pristine beach for swimming and surf fishing, and wander for miles in the park. Plus, there are bike paths, three boardwalks, and superb dining in 2 states. Water sports available are crabbing, clamming, boating, kayaking, jet skiing, sailing, sport fishing, beach combing, surfing, shelling, windsurfing. There is a bike rental shop right across from bay from the home if you need additional. Enjoy the tennis courts at 141st Street in Ocean City. Keep in shape while on vacation – work out at one of two gyms that are within a 10-minute car ride. Further, there are nature trails, bird sanctuaries and the Seaside Nature Center can all be found at Cape Henlopen State Park just outside of Lewes.
There are numerous golf courses - some are Bear Trap Dunes Ocean View Salt Pond Bethany Beach Cripple Creek Golf and CC Dagsboro, Kings Creek, CC Rehoboth Beach, Old Landing Golf Course Rehoboth Beach, Rehoboth CC. You can find more at golf-link.com

About Mary McDevitt
Mary is my rental manager for the last 10 years, and I, Ralph Picard, am the owner. You will be working primarily with Mary. Growing up in Ohio, I first saw the ocean when in college. I immediately loved the energy and excitement that the ocean provided. I've discovered that here is tranquility in the air that is very easy to take in. That is one of the reasons all three of our homes have pools. I have built, rented and sold 9 beach vacation rental homes since 1985, my first one an ocean front home in Bethany Beach. Before building I talked to many realtors and asked what it takes to comfortably support large groups of family and or friends. Here are the key features of the homes that comfortably support large groups in our three best in class vacation homes: • Cooking for the Gang: The kitchens are fully equipped chef's kitchens and spacious. There are 2 BBQs, 2 sinks and 3 refrigerators. • A Room Of Their Own: Plenty of sleeping spots and bathrooms. Yes, the homes can hold three families and have 3 or 4 Masters. • The Plus of Privacy: These vacation rental homes have dens and many porches away from the great room/kitchen/dining room for different ages and activities to hang. • Plenty Of Activities: The rental houses have private heated swimming pools, hot tubs (relax at night in star light with a beer) and many TVs and Wi-Fi. • Room to Spare: The vacation homes are 3600 to 4200 square feet. • Off to the beach: There are beach caddies to haul your beach "stuff." And two of the homes are only a one-minute walk to the beach. • Plenty Of Outdoor Activity: In a 10 minute walk or less there over 25 restaurants, and coffee shops, hoagie shops, a multiplex movie theater, bike rentals, 3 mini golf courses, a water slide, a go cart track, and many shops. And in a 10 minute drive there are another 30 restaurants, many shops, and a boardwalk and amusement park.
Mary McDevitt purchased this House in 2005
Why Mary McDevitt chose Fenwick Island
Private Heated Pool, large hot tub, 6 bikes, paddle boards, Kayaks, a canoe - and a private dock-- From our private dock you can launch your flotilla and travel across the bay and have lunch at one of 4 restaurants-only 15 minutes paddling away. From the pool and hot tub you have an unfettered view of the bay. Maybe most of all the home is just 300 yds to the ocean, and our beach is amazingly uncrowded unlike most resort beaches. (please see the photos in the slide show of Bethany Beach vs Fenwick beaches on the busiest day of 2015.) It has WIFI, many restaurants, coffee shops, go cart track, water slide, movie theater, Fishers popcorn, and many restaurants and stores within walking distance. You can take guided local tours in kayaks, and there great biking in the area. Plus there is an amusement park a few miles away as well as two boardwalks. Private pool, hot tub, 5 bikes, WIFI, only close to the beach, many restaurants, coffee shops, stores within walking distance, local tours in kayaks, and great biking in the area. And an amusement park a few miles away as well as two boardwalks.
What makes this House unique
I love the access to the pool and hot tub from the three different spots and the wet bar just inside the home from the pool. Also the open living area on the top floor supports great conversations and connecting and playing as a family or group of friends. The pool deck and the large bay view front deck support all of your gang hanging out and eating there while you look out over the bay. You can launch the 4 paddle boards, 3 kayaks, and 1 canoe into the bay quickly and easily from our private dock. In 20 minutes you can kayak and canoe (and if you are good also paddle board) to lunch across the bay. The bay is very shallow often only 2 feet deep. Also the open living area on the top floor supports great conversations and connecting and playing as a family or group of friends. One of my favorite spots is BBQ'ing on the deck off of the kitchen and watching sunsets. An important design feature of the home is that the floor layout offers multiple areas for guests to gather. The kids can be on the pool deck and pool with raised voices, the grandparents on the second story rear deck reading, one group on the front deck playing cards, another in the great room watching a game, two folks sitting in the computer nook researching dinner plans, a couple sitting on the dock dangling their toes in the bay, and six others on the side porch talking about the meaning of life. Last, what is rare in most beach resort towns is that Fenwick Island is named the Quiet Resort because it is. No raucous behavior on the beach, or the town. There is plenty to do, but as the photos on this site show the beach is totally not crowded. Parking restrictions keep the number of people on the beach to a small number.

We love this house
We are a group of women who gather every year during the winter. This house has everything we could ask for. Beach proximity, surrounded by water, beautiful sunsets, a hot tub, a fireplace, huge spaces to gather together. This is our second year coming here. We plan to come again.
Great spot on Fenwick Island
This is a great house for a group or family, located in a quiet part of Fenwick Island. It's very well tricked out for the beach and the pool with chairs, bikes, floats, paddleboards, etc. We had a couple of questions and the rental agency very quickly returned our calls, and we appreciated how attentive they were. A good rental experience.
Perfect for our Thanksgiving party of 11
Our group of 7 adults, 4 tweens and 1 dog thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sunset House. The house had everything we needed: a fully equipped kitchen, seats for everyone at the dining room table, comfy sofas for lounging on and plenty of hot water. We enjoyed the house bicycles, our easy 2 block walk to the beach, the water views from nearly every room and the spectacular sunsets. A great house for a relaxing Thanksgiving holiday with friends.
I am so glad you had such a wonderful time at our house and found everything to your satisfaction. Hopefully, we will see you again! We have already rented almost 50% of our prime weeks next year so if you are interested in summer 2018 please contact me.

Perfect Vacation Home!!
We LOVE the Indian House. Lots of room and plenty of space to be together. We had 4 generations together. Heating the pool was a great idea. We were able to swim every day and enjoyed it so much. The house is very well equipped for cooking, eating and sleeping. If you want a dream vacation rent any of the Resort Pointe homes in Fenwick Island!
We loved the house, plenty of room for all of us. Our two twelve year old boys loved the paddle boards and the kayaks.
We all loved our family dinners together and morning coffee on the deck.
My suggestion is to screen in part of the deck next to the kitchen for sitting out in the evening. Also, the dishwasher needs to be replaced.
Everything else was perfect. Astrid
Great vacation house!!
We stayed here with our family of 11 in June! It was an awesome house with great sunset views. The location was perfect, close to the beach, shopping and dining. But on the end of a quiet street. We hope to stay here again!
Fenwick is called the Quiet Resort. There are no loud outdoor parties, or raucous behavior. Fenwick's fine police insure that!
Relax in the soothing 6 person hot tub. Enjoy the tennis courts at 141st Street in Ocean City. Keep in shape while on vacation – work out at the two gyms that are within a 10 minute car ride. Tucked along the southern border of the state, just alongside Ocean City, MD, the town of Fenwick Island is the Delaware beach destination that has everything a family needs. To the north, Fenwick Island State Park offers limitless opportunities for sunbathing, fishing, windsurfing and more. In town, there are endless opportunities for kids' fun, whether it's a round of putt-putt, a go-kart ride, or some delightfully wet waterslide fun at Viking Golf Amusements and Thunder Lagoon Water Park.
Nearby Fenwick Island State Park is a great spot for surf fishing, windsurfing and other outdoor activities. In town, the proximity of many beach homes to the bay make it an ideal spot for those who love to bring their boats and spend their days on the water.
As many moms and dads will attest, Delaware’s beaches are just the spot to keep the kids affordably entertained and happily occupied -- whether its a full day of soaking-wet entertainment at a waterpark, or taken on a side trip for a chilly ice cream cone and some salt-water taffy.
There is a live outdoor Theater, Freeman Stage, for concerts, musicals and plays-and children acting classes

Make memories at Funland (on the boardwalk at 1 Delaware Ave., Rehoboth Beach): Since 1962, families have made memories amid the vintage amusement rides and arcade games at this landmark-by-the-sea. Kid-friendly activities are essential to Funland’s legacy – and when it’s time to head home, stop by for a treat at nearby Grotto Pizza, Dolle's or the Candy Kitchen.
