About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 6

Our house is located on a tidal basin that has seven feet of water at high tide.... perfect for crabbing, fishing or swimming. The beach is only two blocks away. A very easy walk.

The location is very quiet and a perfect get away. Relax on the screened porch or at the ground floor covered living area and watch the tide ebb and flow. This salt water estuary overlooking Edisto Beach State Park is an ornithologist's paradise. Summer sunset views never disappoint.

Bike the island along the bike path which runs in front of the house. Walk several blocks to one of the local restaurants. The local grocery store is a short distance away.

Perfect Lowcountry Escape

  • 5 of 5

We LOVED The Cl'Oyster! The pictures can barely capture the loveliness of this home and it's picturesque setting on the marsh. Every detail was thought of, and any necessity at hand. The kitchen was perfectly stocked- two coffee makers! The beds were comfortable with quality bedding, the home was perfectly clean.

We made great use of the screen porch and the dock. The porch was the perfect place to have coffee and wake up, watching the birds and the marsh as the sun came out, and curl up with a book (ok, Kindle!) as the sun was setting. We dined on the porch at almost every meal, except the day we had a "pop up" tropical storm. The Cl'Oyster was a cozy respite for a rainy day, lazing in the hammock below or watching movies in the spacious living room.

Most of our days were beautiful, allowing us to walk to the beach and enjoy the boogie boards, wander back home to crab off the dock for dinner and kayak at high tide, exploring the marsh. (Note- you might want to kayak in your bare feet, as tipping over will lead you to try to walk through the pluff mud causing your sandals to remain behind, a souvenir of your visit for the marsh.) We appreciated the thoughtful details like the outdoor sink, ready for our catch of crabs. At the end of the fun, the outdoor shower was a very nice way to wash off the sand and start fresh again.

We recommend visiting Botany Bay while you are there as a good place to gain perspective on the land, it’s history and it’s shore. We also loved King’s Farm Market – the crab dip is amazing! Spending our normal lives in a land-locked big city, it was soothing to our souls to succumb to the cadence of the tides, which you must do if you are truly going to enjoy Edisto. The Cl’Oyster was the perfect place to enjoy this magical place and we will be back!

Edisto Beach Haven

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed another wonderful week at this lovely home on Edisto Island. The house has everything you would need to have a great time at the beach. From inside the beautifully decorated house to the outdoor living space- this house has it all. We love sitting on the dock watching the sun set over the marsh. The house is located just 2 blocks back from the beach- just a short walk. The house is on a quiet street with the bike path right at the door. We love to use the kayaks to explore the marsh at high tide. We even saw a manatee this year! We caught crabs off the dock- and released them- they were too beautiful to eat! The owners are so wonderful- they do everything to make your stay wonderful. We will definitely be back!

Love this house!

  • 5 of 5

The perfect house for our family. Dock and proximity to the beach are the perfect combination. No detail has been missed! We even used the deviled egg plate! We love to cook and grill. The well stocked kitchen make that so easy. This was our second week there and it really does feel like our home away from home. Edisto is the perfect get away to relax and not feel guilty!

Edisto's Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we pulled up to the property, we couldn't believe how beautiful it was. We were blown away that this home just a few streets away from the action...shops, restaurants, etc., but was hidden off of a dirt road with a quiet dock "cove". My husband couldn't believe I had found this perfect haven for him to fish with our two small boys. Of course, I joined in too. We were delighted to be invited to use the many great lowcountry supplies by the owner...we used the Crab trap daily, cast net, kayak, etc. My sons favorite activity was checking the crab trap. The kayak was wonderful. Each night we enjoyed an amazing sunset...which we made sure to watch every night, whether on the dock, on the screened porch, or while we were cooking dinner in the kitchen. We had one day of rain, but the living area under the home was enjoyed by our young boys while mom and dad and friends enjoyed some grilling and drinks while the kids ran through the rain and pushed dump trucks around. The dock offered a great opportunity to watch all the different wildlife, particularly the birds at low tide...we saw Osprey, Great Blue Herons, Seagulls, Skimmers, and best of all, the Wood Stork. The walk to the beach is easy and short. The owner provides a great beach cart, but we had our own so we didn't use his. The home itself has great cooking tools and it was very clean and comfortable. We just loved everything about this home and would love to come again. Our 3 year old called it "our beach house". We love Edisto and have been many times and this is by far the best home we have ever had the pleasure to enjoy. Make sure to visit Botany Bay Wildlife Preserve and take your camera! It is worth the trip. Thank you for great memories.

We had a wonderful time this past week at the Cl'Oyster. The house is beautifully decorated, appointed with everything you might need, and a perfect place to stay for a relaxing vacation. While there is plenty to do around the Island (Edisto State Park and Botany Bay Plantation to name a few), there is enough to keep you busy if you don't want to venture out. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the dock enjoying the beautiful view and fishing, and had a lot of fun kayaking (even saw a dolphin!). The beach is a very short walk from the house, as are several restaurants and the grocery store. We really enjoyed Whaleys. John was a pleasure to work with, very responsive to any questions we had. The only downside was, it was extremely hard to leave! We highly recommend and plan to return!

Our house is located at 301 Jungle Shores (near the intersection of Whaley) on a tidal basin that has seven feet of water at high tide.... perfect for crabbing, fishing or swimming. The location is very quiet and a perfect get away. You can keep your small boat at the dock which is only 20 mins from the ocean via Big Bay Creek. Most boats can get into the basin easily from three hours before and after high tide. The pristine view is facing conservation property that has a nice three mile hiking trail. The beach is only two blocks away. A very easy walk.
