Gorgeous Property
Gorgeous property with a lot of great features. Lake is spectacular and many times you area the only ones on the lake. Home is nice and has everything you'd need!
My Excellent North Woods Adventure!
Oh my - what can I say? - about a thousand wonderful things actually! Oak and Fern captured the very essence of the North Woods - and re-awakened my memories of my childhood summers in the upper Midwest (Minnesota and Wisconsin) area. I wish I could have taken that pine smell back to KC with me!
This was not only special to me, celebrating my 70th birthday - but every single member (thirteen of us) of the family was blown away - even my 15 year old grandson and that's saying something!
The attention to detail in every room of these fabulous log homes (can you really call them mere cabins?) was spot on! Yet, there was no 'furniture showroom' feel - there was a genuine, creative, and yet homey ambience. Everything you need for your stay is available. (although we would remind future guests to read the information package and locate the 'storage closets' on your first day and not in the middle of your stay - (I didn't say we're very bright. :)
And not only the cabins are wonderful - but the property is gorgeous, the amenities for relaxing by the fire - or playing on the lake are great. We rented a pontoon boat for 'cruising' and wave runners for the kids - my son-in-law brought his paddle board. The lake is serene, cool and crystal clear - so very different from the Lake of the Ozarks - or Table Rock Lake in the Midwest.
As a surprise for my birthday celebration, my children hired a professional photographer to take family photos - I can't WAIT to see them! Speaking of photos, we took hundreds while there - but I didn't realize there are 'welcome to Oak(Fern) cabin' signs - and I would love to have a photo of those. Wade, if you have photos of the signs, could you post them on Facebook?
We've been back home for 4 days now - but my heart and soul are still at Star Lake! We WILL be back! (PS - we left a perfect puzzle for future guests - The Great Lakes - with Wisconsin smack-dab in the middle!)
Beautiful Cabin!
We have stayed at this beautiful compound for a week each summer for the last 3 years. Is is gorgeous!! Kitchen has absolutely everything you could need, and supplies of all kinds are all provided. The best thing is the huge screen porch overlooking the lake, where we spend the majority of the morning and evening. Be sure to rent a pontoon boat for fishing!! Kids will catch oodles of panfish on this lake! Both cabins together has 5 bedrooms, so plenty of room for everyone. Already looking forward to next year!
Amazing Christmas
This was everything we had hoped for and more. This was the first Christmas together after losing our Dad, Husband, Papa and GreatPapa in Dec of 2014 and it was exactly what we needed. A wonderfully warm, comfortable and beautiful setting and cabin(s) where we could just enjoy each others company with no pressure to go and do anything except have fun. We came with the expectation that we would need to set up a tree and decorate for the season as best we could with what we could bring. What an awesome surprise when arrived to a fully decorated cabin including wreaths, garland and an absolutely beautiful tree. We went for a horse drawn sleigh ride through a freshly snowed on forest at night...which was magical. Found a sledding hill right near the cabin and played in the snow. Unfortunately, the ice wasn't thick (or safe) enough to go out ice fishing on but we had plenty to do and frankly, didn't miss it. We had everything we needed and wouldn't have changed a thing...other than getting stuck in the snow but that was our fault (or at least my brother-in-laws) for living in Wisconsin and having a front wheel drive vehicle. Frank was wonderful and did everything he could to make sure we had everything we needed. We would highly recommend this property (except at Christmas...we want to come back)!!! Thank you for the perfect Christmas!
The ultimate up north getaway
Our stay at both the Oak and Fern cabins was just fantastic. The wonderfully decorated and relaxed atmosphere coupled with the beauty of Star Lake made our vacation one of the best. Listening to loons and watching eagles soar on the screened in porches, overlooking the lake, is something everyone should experience. All of the amenities in the both cabins makes one think that they've thought of everything to make anyones stay fabulous.
Northwoods Fishing Trip
We rented the Oak Cabin for three nights beginning on September 19, 2013. This is a fantastic cabin on a desirable fishing lake. One person in our group even caught his first Walleye on Star Lake while we were there. In addition, the cabin is very near other very desirable fishing lakes. We have stayed in several other cabins in Northern Wisconsin, and this cabin was hands down the most stocked with items needed for a pleasant stay. The kitchen was stocked with everything you need for cookings, including spices, dishes, dry ingredients, Kitchen Aid mixer, etc. It lacked nothing, and if you enjoy cooking like we do, you will not be disappointed. Cabin also has four bathrooms, with three including showers.
The ambience is terrific. This cabin has the true northwoods feel that we were seeking. You can tell the owner has put thought into the decor and amenities. The lake frontage is very flat compared to some lake cabins and is easily accessible. The only difficulty we had was maneuvering our vehicle with a boat trailer attached when we were near the cabin, because the driveway is tight, but we managed. For vehicles without trailers, the driveway is not an issue. Overall, oiur group had no complaints.
