Rogue River House (aka Cabin in the Woods)

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,200 sq ft
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Comfortable, fully-equipped 3 bed/2 bath home, ready for your next getaway!

The Rogue River House is located on 10 wooded acres at the base of mountain territory, at the border between Josephine and Jackson counties, and central to many activities throughout the Rogue Valley. Whether you are a family who needs to spread out or a couple who desires a quiet, romantic getaway, our comfortable and pet-friendly cabin is the perfect destination. We just a short (10-15) minute drive from the town of Rogue River, named after the majestic river that runs through it. A beautiful drive will provide the much-needed relief from the fast paced I-5 interstate.

Relax and do nothing or enjoy all that the Rogue Valley/Southern Oregon has to offer. Once removed from the city lights stargazing is second to none. Enjoy vineyards with wine tasting, rafting to skiing, zip lines to theater, shopping at malls/major stores or in historic Jacksonville. Explore the Oregon Caves, Crater Lake or the amazing Redwoods and Oregon Coast...So many things to choose from, and all within driving time from 20 minutes to 2 hours. At 1500 feet above sea level, we tend to get snow in the winter. Bring your quads or horses and explore mountain trail access 1/4 mile from the cabin. Amazing vistas and a few secret streams! Very easy trail rides to an intermediate climb over the mountain range.  Come and create your own memories in our Rogue River House!

About Kat and Larry King

We absolutely love Southern Oregon and the Rogue Valley, and all it has to offer throughout the year. We are happy to offer our Rogue River House with others who are visiting the area. Staying here means you will get the chance to meet Larry King...Live! He's not the guy on CNN, but a fantastic mechanic and Automotive Technology instructor who LOVES to ride quads throughout our mountains. Kat has worked in the healthcare documentation industry for over 40 years and works with a healthcare software application company. We're animal lovers with 2 dogs, 2 cats, a horse, and a baby burro recently adopted from the BLM in Arizona.

Kat and Larry King purchased this cabin in 2002

Guestbook comments from the owner

Aloha Kat & Larry,

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your vacation rental. It worked perfectly to share it with our daughter, grandsons and granddaughter. Between the bike, horse, burro and pool the kids were entertained and loved it. It worked well for our friends who stayed in their RV too.

We had a lot of fun having the bride, groom and friends over for a barbecue a couple days before the wedding! We hope Larry has had some time to rest....he was VERY busy with his business during our stay.

If you get a chance to visit the Big Island, give us a call or even stay at our vacation rental, Hale Luana (which means relax & enjoy).

The entire stay was amazing, comfortable, welcoming and non intrusive. I recommend the little cabin in the woods to anyone, without a doubt. Thank you again for the best hospitality the side of the Mississippi .

Rogue River Cabin

  • 3 of 5

We stayed three nights. It was advertised as a cabin, but in reality it was a trailer that had been covered in wood. It did have a well equipped kitchen and a large tv. It could have had directions to use the vcr as all machines are a little different. It wasn't a scenic lot/location. It was on the same lot as the owners which was well kept, but the rental's landscape was messy It was approximately 17 miles out of Rogue River. The owners were friendly and helpful. It was clean and neat. We wouldn't recommend it. We chose the site because our son-in-law wanted to go fishing. It wasn't comfortable to be outside because the temperature was in the high 90s.

Owner's Response: I would like to respond to this review since it is one of the only negative comments posted during the many years we have offered our property. Half of the cabin is a lovingly preserved vintage manufactured home, while the other half is a traditional house structure, all covered by a sturdy steel "ramada" roof. This helps to maintain cool temps in the summer and warm in the winter. Our description clearly states the house shares the property with our main house. They are approximately 100 ft from each other. The entire property is exactly 8 miles from the town of Rogue River, and is situated in towering pine, fir, cedar and madrone trees. A short stroll from the cabin reveals beautiful vistas of the mountains directly beyond our property. The night skies are awesome for stargazing. We chose to maintain this natural setting. Most would consider this very scenic. We have no control over the local climate, however, we will be updating our landscape to make it more comfortable while being outside. In addition, we plan to update the bathrooms and other outbuildings on the property during this year's off season.

Peaceful Retreat

Kat and Larry are wonderful people. The cabin is well decorated, secluded, yet only 10 minutes from town. We plan to stay here again.
