The house is a retreat away from the fast past lives we live. The ocean views are endless. The green trees and wildlife are beautiful. The people are friendly and well educated. Most locals speak a little English. The surf is fun an uncrowded. Our home is on a bluff. We are a 5 minute walk to a white sand beach. The walk back is very steep up the hill. We drive to the parking lot for the beach. It is a two minute drive. The house is located in a very safe resort of Punta Leona. Inside the resort, there are 3 restaurants, a small convenience store, and other activities. We are about 20 minutes from Jaco.

Eric Fonoimoana purchased this house in 2005
I bought this vacation home because I wanted a place that was safe, fun for my family, and most important I wanted an ocean view home near the beach. I grew up by the beach and I will always live near the beach.
My favorite part of the house is sitting on the deck staring at the ocean. It is so peaceful and relaxing. I enjoy watching the birds flying by and sometimes the monkeys come by to visit. The house is only a few minutes walk to a beautiful white sand beach. I recommend to drive because the walk back up the hill is steep. It will take about 2 minutes to get to the beach by car. If you like the outdoors and adventure, this home is centrally located. When you are out and about, keep your eyes peeled because you never know what you might see like rare birds, monkeys, racoons, etc...
Casa Pura Vida is truly a spectacular house. Its views of the ocean were breathtaking. My favorite spot was being in the warm roof top infinity pool looking at the sun setting behind the ocean as scarlet macaws were flying around. The spacious second floor offered equally beautiful views. It was wonderful to allow the outdoors in just by opening the bay windows, allowing hummingbirds to fly in out on occasion. The well-equipped kitchen permitted us to create delicious meals. This level also offered a spacious jacuzzi and a deck from which we could stargaze at night. The lower floor contained 5 spacious bedrooms, 4 of which opened onto a refreshing lap pool.
We also enjoyed the beautiful beach at the bottom of the hill. After having swam in the warm ocean, we tasted refreshing ceviche and margaritas at the beach restaurant while being visited by monkeys and coati mundis. We saw our first sloth at the nearby national park, and zip lined in close proximity to the house.
One of my favorite moments was being on the roof top early in the morning, watching the macaws and toucans in the nearby trees.
We truly had an amazing vacation and we look forward to going again soon!
This is the perfect house for a large family gathering. It is spacious, lots of private areas if you want to relax or read; but, lots of fun areas for the family to enjoy the amenities the house offers. The rooftop pool was our gathering place every sundown and after we ended in the jacuzzi...We were close enough to the beach; we ate in-house most of the time since the house has a great kitchen. Pete was very helpful. We will rent this house again without hesitation.
The house was great but it was the views that put it over the top. There is no way to describe how amazing the rooftop pool is at sunset. We made Sundowners up there a daily ritual.
The house is laid out perfectly for a large group with private bedrooms and communal living space. The bedrooms/bathrooms aren't luxurious but that's not what you travel to CR for. Pete was super helpful as a property manager, organizing cabs for us and answering any questions promptly.
Recently stayed at Casa de Pura Vida with a fairly large group - the house, location, and amenities exceeded our expectations. The pictures actually don't really do it justice, although it's clearly stunning in the photos. Do note that it takes a while to leave the Punta Leona resort area (maybe 15 min. through some hilly terrain), but the seclusion and views are second to none. Highly recommend.
We recently stayed at Casa de Pura Vida with two other families for our yearly family vacation. Casa de Pura Vida was incredible and perfect for our combined families. There was a ton to do and keep us busy…pool, beach, hiking to waterfalls, great restaurants, surfing and so much more! The pool on the roof was perfect for during the day with a beautiful ocean view. The pool downstairs was great for the kids in the evening while we were cooking and lounging. The sunset and sunrise is a MUST on the roof. So beautiful and peaceful. The secluded community felt safe and the beach was clean and lovely. We had a few meals at the restaurant on the beach and were surprised to see lots of cute and friendly monkeys. Casa de Pura Vida was amazing and I would recommend this house to all of my friends and family. We are currently planning another trip back within the next year as there is much more that we want to do and see.
The house was very nice overall and the location was nice as well. It is up on a hill in a small rain forest like area with a very nice view from the top 2 floors. I definitely recommend having a car, golf cart, or driver if you stay here though causes its a bit of a ways up the hill from the beach and other amenities in the area. The only defect with the property that I noticed was one of the door knobs to a bathroom was working but required some effort to unlock. Also suggest not leaving valuables out just like in a hotel because there is a pool guy and cleaning lady with access to the property. (there were safes in each room)
Oh also. In the pictures it looks like a secluded property, but there is a neighboring house right next store on the pool side which is not shown in the photos. Not a big deal, just an observation.
Overall it is a nice house and our experience was great.
