Two large king sized bedrooms, one twin with three en-suites, all with TV's.

Underbow, once a coach house, has been recently lovingly restored but is still quirky and full of character. Located down an extremely quiet, private lane. It has ample private parking for two cars, three at a push. The house has its own first floor, south facing, fenced garden. It is not over looked and is south facing with views across to Dartmoor. Moretonhampstead is on the doorstep so you can walk 200 metres to its centre for shops, tourist information, cafés and restaurants. If the sun is out the open air swimming pool is right there. There is an art gallery and car museum as part of the village. The cottage has everything you could need, a solid wooden kitchen with large range cooker, a wood burning stove, full central heating and every bedroom has its very own en-suite, two of these are shower rooms and one is a bathroom. All the beds have 100% luxury cotton waffle duvets and white fluffy towels. There is wi fi and four flat screen televisions (two with integrated DVD players) in the house. It has been filled with masses of books, games and toys as well as everything you could need for cooking up a storm in the kitchen! We are pet friendly with plenty of circular walks straight from the doorstep.

What makes this cottage unique

This quiet property benefits from its own private parking for two cars right outside the front door. It also boasts a south facing, first floor garden with views over Dartmoor. A private suntrap which isn't overlooked. Both of these are quite rare in Moreton. The parking saves you the hassle and fee of using the pay and display car parks which can quickly get full especially at peak times.

  • All bedrooms are en-suite with bathrooms finished to a very high standard in 2015. The master bedroom and Bedroom 3 have walk in showers surrounded in limestone tiles and slate work tops and solid wooden flooring. Bedroom 2 has an en-suite bathroom with a shower and bath.

  • There are two bedrooms(Bed 1 & 2) on the first floor both with their own bathrooms. The Master bedroom has a kingsize bed, dressing table, hanging space and a chest of drawers. The large twin has a built in wardrobe and chest of drawers. The twin's bathroom has a bath as well as a shower. Taking up the entire top floor is another large king also with plenty of storage and separate dressing area. This too has an en-suite. There are views across Dartmoor from these windows. All beds are made up with 100% white waffle linen and white towels. All bedrooms have wall mounted TV's.

The property exceeded our, already high, expectations.

We stayed at Underbow Cottage in Moretonhampstead for one week from 5th October 2017. We were in Devon for our granddaughter's 8th Birthday and the property seemed perfect for our needs in terms of location and sleeping capacity. In actuality, the cottage exceeded our expectations and we quickly found that all possible needs and comforts had been anticipated and provided by the no doubt proud owner of this property. Each of the 3 bedrooms was en-suite and my wife and I were delighted to find that one of the bathrooms had a high spec walk-in shower, which was perfect for our mobility needs.

No kitchen item that we could possibly need was lacking and everything about the kitchen, and indeed the entire property, was clear to see quality.

Our grandchildren aged 8 and 4 found very many toys and games in the drawers and cupboards to keep them amused and the lounge TV set also had a DVD player with dozens of children's DVD's.

A lovely touch, especially after a long drive down to Devon from Essex was milk in the fridge, tea/coffee in the containers.......and a still warm lemon drizzle cake on a beautiful glass stand on the kitchen table.

A most remarkable amount of thought and care has gone into this property and I can assure anyone who may be considering renting this property that they most certainly would not be disappointed.

Fabulous cottage in a great location.

We all really enjoyed our stay at Underbow cottage. It has a true home from home feel and plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen is well equipped but with so many lovely pubs and the local Italian restaurant Bertos we didn't stay in often! There is a good variety of children's books and toys to keep them entertained too. It was particularly great to find such a high quality cottage that also accepts dogs. I've already recommended the cottage to friends and hope that we will make a return visit ourselves. Kimberley was very prompt to reply to any queries and very accommodating of our last minute request to extend our stay as we were enjoying ourselves so much.

Lovely property, good location,

1week at Underbow Cottage, me and my husband , son and his girlfriend plus our dog Arthur. Lovely cottage, good location, weather didn't stop us from enjoying long daily walks on beautiful Dartmoor. Can highly recommend The Rugglestone Inn at Widecombe on the Moor and the Gateway Cafe in Mortenhampstead.

Cottage is very well equipped and comfortable, lovely wood burner too for when you arrive home having walked in the rain.

Lovely property that is tastefully furnished and decorated.

The home-from-home feeling within the cottage, with the lovely little touches, made the base very comfortable. From there we enjoyed some terrific walks and locations, returning to the warm ambience of the cottage. This is a place that you could happily return to at any time of year. We loved it!

Well equipped tastefully refurbished cottage in a convenient location for Devon's attractions

The cottage has been recently modernised to a high standard. The decoration is tasteful throughout with good quality furnishings and accessories. The kitchen is well equipped if you choose to cook and the welcome 'pack' included tea, coffee, sugar, milk, condiments etc. The lemon drizzle cake was a nice suprize! A minor detail- the distressed kitchen table has not been sealed so the paint tends to come off onto anything on the surface. The bedrooms are a good size, beds are comfortable and bed linen and towels are quality and plentiful. Showers are modern and have good pressure although the one on the top floor loses all pressure if othe taps or showers are in use. Not a major problem but a bit of a surprise if you are part way through washing your hair. The top bedroom is in the eaves up 2 flights of stairs- this is fine for most but not suitable for elderly or less able. The sitting room is a lovely space to relax.

In the upper rooms the views are superb- looking out to Dartmoor. A small garden is equipped with tables and chairs if the sun is shining.

The location is excellent to explore Devon and Dartmoor in particular. Moretonhampstead has a good choice of restaurants if you want to eat locally. The White Horse ( the Horse) and Bertos are particularly good.

Moretonhampstead is an ancient market town situated on the edge of Dartmoor National Park in Devon. It sits in the shelter of hills on three sides and the beautiful Wray Valley on the fourth. No matter which road you take you cannot fail to be impressed by the breathtaking views. The town is about 15 miles from the cathedral city of Exeter and 40 min from the beaches. The town offers visitors opportunities for hiking, cycling, and pony trekking, fishing and just relaxing. There are a variety of cafes, pubs, local shops, tea shops and a wonderful Deli. There is also a heated outdoor public swimming pool open during the summer. There are many NT properties close by, one of them being Castle Drogo, only 7 miles away and the miniature pony centre for children is only 5 min away. Bovey Castle and Gidleigh Park are very near for a special treat.
