FLORENCE ITALY PERFECT OLIVIA APARTMENT
Explore Florence's charming Oltrarno neighborhood. This area abounds with excellent restaurants, cafes and small artisan workrooms. Piazza di Santo Spirito is also nearby which offers many good restaurants and several fresh produce stalls in the mornings.
The apartment is clean and well maintained.
Located off of Via di Santo Spirito the Olivia apartment is in a terrific location in the historic center on the Oltrarno side of the river. So convenient to the sites, the highlights of Florence are all within walking distance.
The apartment is in a 15th century apartment building on a narrow street lined with other historic apartment buildings, artisan workshops, restaurants, small shops.
The apartment is on the 4th floor (5th North American designation) with no elevator. A great way to balance the wonderful food and wine of Florence.
This is a two-level apartment with the living room, kitchen and one bathroom below and the bedroom and a second full bathroom upstairs. The open kitchen which is just through the front door is fully equipped. An handsome expandable antique dining table has seating for four. Tasteful antiques, excellent maintenance and thoughtful touches make this a comfortable, homey apartment. The location is terrific.
The living room is quite spacious with attractive original wood beams on the high ceiling. Two large living room windows admit plenty of light, a nice feature of the apartment because it is high up in the building. The sofa is comfortable and opens to sofa bed that can accommodate two people. An ottoman in the living room converts to a single bed as well.
Next to the charming antique writing desk is the downstairs bathroom. The bathrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs, are nice in the apartment with attractive tiles and fully enclosed showers. The fact that there are two bathrooms makes the living room sofa bed arrangement particularly convenient for guests. The living room TV has satellite so receives some English language news channels.
The bedroom is on the second level, reached by 14 steps up. It is a cozy, pleasant space with skylight, good storage space behind an attractive curtain under the eaves. There are good reading lamps on the night stands on either side of the bed. The bed can be made up as one large bed or two singles. Off the bedroom is a full bathroom with enclosed shower and a separate laundry room.

This apartment was so comfortable and well-equipped that it made a great vacation even better. The kitchen is small but very well organized. The sofa is big enough for two to relax comfortably and the Internet connection super-fast. The mattress is Memory Foam, I think, and better than ours at home. The bed loft ceiling is really low on one side of the bed. It would be a problem if you're both tall. The Oltrarno location is ideal. We enjoyed the many church bells. The 68 stairs up to the apartment aren't easy, but hey! It means pasta and wine without guilt.
We stayed here for 5 nights in September. This is quite a lovely apartment with some amenities not always found. There is air conditioning throughout, a washing machine that also dries (oh you clever Italians), bathrooms in both the loft and main floor and satellite TV (for English speaking channels). The bed and furniture are very comfortable and we felt quite at home here.
The host left lovely treats and wine for us, and the greeter even helped carry our luggage up the 65 stairs to get to the apartment. The flights of stairs may be a deterrent to some as they can be quite a hassle for coming and going with any frequency.
The apartment is on the quieter side of the Arno river and just a few "blocks" from the Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens which was a huge plus for me because they are my favorite places to visit here in Florence. There are also very nice restaurants tucked away nearby. Almost everything in Florence is walkable but don't miss the remodeled Mercato Centrale early in your visit so you can stock up on fantastic food items. There is also a terrific food court on the upstairs floor!
We had a fabulous stay in Florence. The apartment was convenient to major attractions, shopping and great restaurants. The Property Manager was very accommodating and attentive. The apartment was well stocked with the essentials. It was spotless and very comfortable. I highly recommend it!
We loved the location of Olivia apartment! It was just enough out of the congestion of the touristy area of the city to provide a pleasant break at night. We enjoyed exploring the Oltrarno quarter. We attended Mass in the basilica a short walk away and had the bonus to see a crucifix carved by Michelangelo at age 17. We also observed the art of carved block print at a small gallery on our street. The apartment was small, but four of us were quite comfortable for our stay. Our greeter provided a wealth of information that we used throughout our stay. I even learned how to make "Italian" coffee! My advice to those staying here...live like a local. Pack light the stairs are challenging with heavy luggage, but that does not stop me from recommending this as a wonderful spot to stay in Florence. Perhaps our favorite discovery was a family run restaurant about a 20 minute walk from the apartment. It was called Trattoria Pandehohio. We would recommend it highly. Thank you for a lovely stay in your apartment.
The apartment exuded old-world charm. There were large windows with delightful views of the street and they also gave the place an airy feeling and filled it with light. The sleeping loft was quite comfortable with plenty of closet space and a bathroom off of the bedroom and a skylight above the bed. The living area had everything we needed--a lovely sitting room, a well-equipped kitchen, a library with useful guides and maps, and another bathroom.
The apartment is in a wonderful, lively part of Florence, on the same street as some of the best restaurants in town--like Il Santo Bevitore, Olio and Convivium, and Cammilo. It is also very close to 4 Leones and Magazine. There is a supermarket just down the block and cafes everywhere. Even more important, it is a stone's throw from the Pitti Palace and also very close to the Brancacci Chapel. It takes only a few minutes to cross the bridge and then all the major museums and churches are a few minutes' walk.
All in all, a great place to stay!
Our apartment was 5 flights up with no elevator as mentioned, but only 66 steps so it was okay and we got use to the climb!
There is a small grocery nearby and that is good. We shopped near the Duomo at Etaly too!
I can say for 2 adults it was good but for more it would be crowded with someone on the sofa and dealing with the luggage.
The location was good on the other side of the Arno and we can recommend the restaurant on the corner, il Santo Bevitore! You will see a crowd there every night waiting to get in. We made reservations in advance and it was great!
Some of our other favorite restaurants in Florence that are in walking distance are:
Don't miss the newly opened Duomo Museum!
This is the 2nd time we've used Italy Perfect and we will again!
My son and I had a great stay at the Olivia apartment. I was concerned about the stairs, but they were not an issue at all, I enjoyed the exercise after all the wonderful food. The area is perfect, very safe and close to all the sites. The a/c, washing machine, coffee maker, comfy beds all made for a perfect stay after long days of sightseeing. The best part was the neighborhood, fabulous restaurants, great gelato and shopping, and just far enough away from all the crowds, yet a great neighborhood feel. I was happy with our choice and would stay there again. Thank you to Lisa and the Italy Perfect team for answering all my questions and help, you were fantastic to work with!
