All the resort amenities without the resort prices! Our top floor (3rd floor) unit provides fabulous views of Buck Island and the city of Christiansted. Kitchen & living room patio doors face east letting the trade wind breezes flow through our unit. An 8' x 26' covered, private balcony extends your outdoor relaxing. Breezes restaurant is within walking distance down the beach - best happy hour on island. Snorkeling in a protected reef bay & swimming pool are available. St. Croix is a relaxing, slower paced island. St. Thomas and St. John can be visited either by ferry or seaplane. There is desert-like terrain, rain forest & the Wall at Cane Bay which has some of the best snorkeling & shore diving in the world. Entire unit has fresh paint and new living room furniture in 2015. Twin beds or convert to king upon request in the guest bedroom.
Why we chose Colony Cove: Our first visit to St. Croix was in 1999. We bought a one week time share that same year at Chenay Bay. We have returned to the island year after year. After selling a ski-in, ski-out condo in Copper Mountain, CO we traded the mountains and snow for sun and surf! We are very happy with our unit at Colony Cove. Great central location on the island - about 20 minutes to any of the shores (east, west, north or south) and 5 minutes to downtown Christiansted.
Recommend car rental: No private beaches on St. Croix - there are many, many great places to visit, snorkle, and relax all over the island. For more information on St. Croix you can visit www.gotostcroix.com and www.visitstcroix.com. And the restaurants! So many and so good! Wonderful staff at all of them. But of course, resting and relaxing right at Colony Cove is a wonderful option too - you can snorkle, swim or use the pool and not have to drive anywhere. There are two grocery stores within walking distance.
Sunday Fundays: Head west to Rhythms at Rainbow Beach, music starts 3pm, Sandy Point, or the Fredricksted pier. Heading east you can visit Deep End beach/bar, second Sunday of the month has entertainment. A little further east is Shoreline at Chenay Bay recently opened and under new management by previous Brew Pub staff. Whatever you decide to do on Sunday, you will definitely have a great time.
An absolutely beautiful 3rd floor unit! Nicely updated and clean with all the comforts of home! We have stayed at Colony Cove before and love its location...close to shopping, beaches and Christiansted. This was our 3rd visit to St. Croix and this time wanted to bring my parents. We stayed the end of July in 09. There was plenty of room for 4 of us! Coffee in the morning was a delight while enjoying gentle breezes and gorgeous views of the sea, mountains and of course Buck Island. The staff at the condo are helpful and friendly. There are two restaurants on either side of the condo to enjoy a bit to eat or for having a cocktail. I would say to really enjoy all that St. Croix has to offer, you must rent a car! Without a car you may miss...The Rum Factory, Sailing to Buck Island with Big Beard, seeing the beer drinking pigs at Dominos in the rain forest, enjoying other beaches with great snorkeling, the casino, crab races and more!!! The condo rental process was smooth and easy, thanks to the owners... Mark and Debb! We are already getting set to book our second stay with them and can't wait. We love St. Croix, Colony Cove and now, Mark and Debb for allowing us to rent there adorable home! Thank you, thank you!!
My husband and I stayed in this unit with another couple Nov 28-Dec 5, 2009. The owners even had the twin beds in the second bedroom converted to a king before our stay at our request. The view from the balcony was beautiful.
The condo had plenty of room and was well equipped. Plenty of towels, appliances, dishes, SHARP knives, and a very nice supply of the basics like dishwasher detergent, paper towels, toilet tissue, tissues, laundry detergent, coffee filters, etc. The little "extras" like both a large and small cooler for picnic lunches, plastic glasses that could be taken to the pool area, made this really feel like home.
Many of the units are being refurbished on the outside and I believe the resort's overall appearance will be very nice when completed. While this is not a 5 star resort, we did not pay for that! It was nice and the security was good.
The owners were extremely nice to deal with and we had several contacts both by phone and email with them prior to our stay. They called us the morning after our arrival to see if everything was satisfactory. They will give you many tips regarding what to see and where to eat!
We had been to St Croix 10 years ago and found it much the same. It is a quiet island without alot of nightlife. The beaches are not crowded. The people are friendly and we enjoyed driving around the island. Rent a car to see everyting and enjoy all the beaches and the little restuaurants with island music such as Rythms, at Rainbow Beach. The Pirate Buffet and Mocko Jumbee dancers are a must do at Carambola Beach Resort on Friday nights. Take a sail on the tall ship Roseway if you are there in the winter and of course go snorkeling at Buck Island.
I would recommend staying in this unit! The price and location are great and the owners were delightful! They will do everything possible to ensure you are satisfied!
We had a great time staying in this condo. The top floor was very quiet which is what we were looking for. The condo was very clean and had plenty of linens. The kitchen was very well equipped. The balcony has a very nice view of the courtyard and you can see the pool and some of the water off to the left. The internet and phones worked great.
We did have one issue with the AC units and had to contact the owner. I emailed Mark and he replied the same day. The problem was fixed the next day (both AC units were replaced with brand new ones). This was accomplished on a holiday! The maintenance man went above and beyond as far as I’m concerned. Thanks Mark for taking care of that so quickly.
We would definitely stay there again when visiting St. Croix in the future.
My wife and I rented the condo from Mark for the week. Mark was very responsive to our emails and even called to get the processed started rather than go through numerous emails. The condo is very nice and well stocked with everything you need. There is a grocery store nearby for anything you might want to stock up on. The condo is located in a very nice spot on north side of the island. Being centrally located near Christiansted (which is the larger, nicer of the two cities on St. Croix), there are restaurants nearby, as well as, the normal tourist type activities such as snorkeling or fishing trips, seaplane trip, sailing, etc. Plus there are a couple of nice places to eat or swim just east of Christiansted that are within 15 minutes by car. There is a nice bar close by the condo. The A/C units (bedroom only) are somewhat noisy at night but, you do get used to it. During our stay we had nice breezes coming through every day so no need for A/C in living room or kitchen area. There are ceiling fans in bedrooms and living room. Sitting on the porch reading or whatever is very relaxing. The condo complex has a nice pool with plenty of chairs. Very little traffic there. There is a grill there also if you're inclined to grill. A car is required if you want to get out and see the island. You can do taxis but, I assume that would be expensive and inconvenient. Driving is on the left. The condo is gated with security onsite. We would highly recommend this condo to anyone looking for a nice relaxing stay on St. Croix. Normal tourist common sense rules apply on St. Croix, same as anywhere.
I regularly check reviews before I rent any property. I am honest about my impressions. That being said, this is a lovely home. Our host, Mark, could not have been more helpful and the condo was absolutely as described. Having Mark available for several conversations only improved the trip. I was so impressed with the unit and the complex, that I'm looking into buying.
My wife and I booked this unit at the last minute when our family circumstances allowed (one mother with Alzheimer's, another on chemo). The owners could not have been more helpful.
Upon arrival, the condo is beautiful, and clearly has been recently and thoroughly updated. We had everything we needed. We only cooked a couple of times, because we discovered the adjacent restaurant was better than anything we could prepare, and was moderately priced. The kitchen was adequately equipped for our needs and most of it went unused.
It was hot while we were there, especially in the afternoons. We weren't there then, as a rule, so it really didn't matter. The A/C units in the bedrooms were more than adequate, and will freeze you out if you don't properly set the temperature controls. The master bed was extremely comfortable, which caused us to spend more time in it that we might have otherwise. The bathrooms were refreshed and adequate. The bedding and towels were great and having a washer and dryer meant we brought home few dirty garments.
The decorating motif was artistic, interesting, and pleasant. The furniture was new and comfortable.
As for the complex, you are right on the water. The sea grass issue mentioned by others has largely dissipated. There are four condo complexes linked by beach, so you have an expanse at your disposal. The view is amazing. Based on what I observed at adjoining complexes, as a property manager, I think Colony Cove is responsibly managed, well maintained, and belies its age in terms a appearance.
In summary, you would be hard pressed to find a better bargain with better hosts anywhere on the island. I will definitely return. Many thanks to Mark and Kevin (property manager) for making this an amazing trip for us.
We looked at several rentals on Home Away as well as other popular sites, and decided that C303 Colony Cove looked great on line and had everything we needed for our week long stay. We were absolutely thrilled. This unit is all we could have wanted and more.
The view was beautiful, the pool close by, the beach right there and everyone was so nice. We knew that the bedrooms had air conditioning but we were a little concerned about there not being an AC unit in the living/kitchen area, but it was not a problem. Open the huge sliding glass doors, close the screens and open the bedroom windows both top and bottom, and the breeze through the unit was wonderful and you spend all of your time sitting outside looking at the beautiful landscaping and the sea so there not being an AC unit in the front of the condo was not a problem for us.
We have stayed in many different places on St. Croix and can honestly say that the owners have made sure all of the comforts and items you need for a wonderful vacation are in the unit. From the dishes and kitchen utensils and appliances to the towels and bedding, to the small coolers for your take along picnic lunches, the unit is perfect!
We will definitely stay here again and if you are not sure about renting this unit, please don't hesitate. You could not do better for the location, amenities or views and the price was also a plus. These owners do a great job. If we could give it more than 5 stars, we would.
My friend and I stayed here for 10 days. Great location. Quiet. Right on the beach. Really close to several activities. We had a car so we drove around the island several times. I don't have one complaint about this place. If I go back to st croix, I'd definitely stay here again!!
