The sunsets from the West facing deck are utterly gorgeous and go on for hours in the summer months. The property is accessible by car, sail or power boat and seaplane and has a deep dock that accommodates a yacht or sailboat. There's power and water on the dock.

Special is an understatement. A Pacific Northwest Paradise.
I was introduced to the island by close friends who live there and bought this pure cedar waterfront panabode house 22 years ago. It was built with loving care and superb taste by a lovely Dutch couple. I am the second owner. This is my soul place but because work takes me away from the island I rent it out sparingly. Everyone who has stayed has appreciated how special this place is.
Donna D purchased this house in 1990
There's nothing like it in all my travels. The house is tongue and groove cedar. No interior walls, Cedar is 8 ' thick and glows. And it smells wonderful. Its like being outside and inside at the same time.
The house and the cottage sit on 4.5 acres of private, blissful waterfront. And the deck with loungers and dining faces to the west with hours of summer sunsets.
Travel is my passion. This place was fabulously beautiful and lived up to its description and my expectations. It was totally private, had a view I'll never forget, a house with every comfort, great bed and linens and walks galore starting right out the front door. Take the beach walk at low tide and easy access as grass goes right down to it. I'm definitely coming back and bringing my sister and niece next time. There's also a cottage for an extended family get together. Wonderful!
We had the pleasure of staying here for a week in early July 2015. We stayed in the main house, although we also had access to the small cottage on the property. We brought our boat across from the mainland and the dock at the house made it a perfect set up. My wife brought a car across on the ferry, so that we had a vehicle on the island as well. We found the house to be very warm and inviting - the wood and décor makes it feel like a cottage from another era. It was ideal for us and exactly what we were looking for. It is located in Montague Harbour and the walk to the marina for lunch or supplies was I think around 10 minutes. We had our dinghy with us and it's a 2 minute ride from dock to dock from the house to the marina. We also used the dinghy to get from the house to the nearby white shell beaches, which are awesome for kids. We loved the cottage and the location and we will definitely be back!
We are from the Toronto area and we rented this beautiful waterfront home on Galiano Island for 10 days. Our son, who lives in Vancouver, was getting married at the Bodega Ridge Resort a few miles away on the island and we wanted a comfortable roomy place to stay for that time, with our family. Well, the pictures just don’t do it justice. The home itself has such character and history, all in cedar wood, it smells wonderful. The setting couldn’t have been any better with its fantastic views and panorama. From being next to Montague Harbour and seeing all the beautiful boats anchored in the bay, to the deer coming right up to you on the property, the massive trees on the property, the whole experience was wonderful. Nothing was lacking in this house, I love cooking and I was thrilled that the kitchen was so well equipped. Beds are very comfortable, plenty of linens, etc. At night, we would just sit and relax on the deck, watching the magnificent sunset, then later staring at the stars not wanting to go to bed, just soaking the whole experience in.
Donna, your home is a little piece of paradise, away from all the craziness. We definitely plan to come back – this could become our new family get together destination.
We had a wonderful island, cottage experience! Peaceful sleeps, private balcony meals, wine on the dock with sunset views, sea kayaking to neighbouring islands, bike rides to the market, morning runs to the marine park...
We rented the main house -it was a great set-up for us! We had plenty of room in the house, enjoyed eating dinner on the deck, and reading on the dock: we loved the peaceful setting. My husband and two adult sons (20 and 22) and one friend boated over from Vancouver right to the dock- I took the ferry so we were able to explore the Gulf Islands by boat -and Galiano by boat and car. The location is great-we have family on Vancouver Island so we were even able to have day visitors -some who boated right to the dock and some who came by ferry! (including my Dad and Uncle) My one son and his friend loved biking and running right from the property. It is an easy walk to Montague Harbour -which has some groceries and a cafe. I highly recommend staying here for a relaxing get away- and try the Galiano Roasting Company coffee-mmmm!
What a beautiful place! The weather was perfect, everyone loved the house & harbor and the island itself. We rented both the main house and the small cottage. The wildlife & scenery was spectacular and we took advantage of many activities including chartering a boat (saw the orcas up near the north end of the island), a forest & beach hike with the nature conservatory guide, zodiac boat tour to Saturna for lunch, fishing for salmon in the ocean, kayaking in the harbor and a spa day at the Galiano Inn. Some of the creatures we saw from the dock & in the garden including river otters (family of five), minke, raccoons, red fox, deer, bald eagles, seals, hummingbirds, starfish & seastars. We didnt even have to leave the property to see these lovely animals! Oh and the sunsets were unbelievable.
We hope to go back soon, and often!
A perfect place to relax while enjoying the many wonderful attributes of a wonderful island. The house is lovely and rests in the midst of a small patch of forrest with several old growth trees that were 600 years old! The ocean views were stunning. Thank you for a wonderful time.
