More information on the surrounding area:
Cotton Bay village is situated on the North East Coast of St Lucia. It is a 15 minute drive from the main town of Rodney Bay which is the main tourist centre for the North of the Island. Rodney Bay has everything you need to enjoy a self catering villa holiday. There are 2 very good supermarkets, one in the relatively new shopping mall with parking. There are excellent pharmacies, a walk in medical centre and a dentist practice. Rodney Bay is is a fun and lively social hub with a range of bars and restaurants.
En route from Rodney Bay to the village is the Rodney Bay Marina area. It provides moorings to a fantastic array of ocean going yachts including some truly jaw dropping super yachts. The Marina is a lovely location for for coffee and lunch and in the evening it transforms into a relaxed venue for drinking and eating and very family friendly. There is a lovely SPA at the Marina with a great reputation and very week trained therapists. Boat cruises and deep sea fishing trips can be organised at and leave from Rodney Bay Marina. Next to the Marina is the impressive new St Lucia Dive Centre where you can book dive trips and lessons.
2 kilometres from the village is the Club house for the 18 hole championship St Lucia golf course where you can hire clubs and buggies (compulsory) and enjoy a a round of golf.
The village is a 1hour 30 minute drive from Hewanorra International Airport. We are able to recommend a transfer service, also hire cars can be collected from the airport. An exciting transfer ride is by helicopter and it lands at George Charles airport near Castries which is a 30 minute drive to Cotton Bay Village. The drive from Hewanorra takes you along the Atlantic side east coast of St Lucia, through the rain forest to the Caribbean side west coast. You then drive through the capital Castries with the cruise ship and ferry port on your left and then onto Rodney Bay. the final approach to Cotton Bay Village is on a small road through the 18 hole St Lucia Golf course and past some of the Cap Estate villas.
- Great location. Steps from beach, and near community pool.
- Good sized rooms, and comfortable furniture.
- The building has a lot of minor repair issues. Sticky doors, broken window hardware. Plubing fixtures that aren't working properly.
- There are no screens in the windows.
- The windows aren't really windows, they are louvers, so even when closed mosquitoes and bugs can get in.
- The louvers also make using the A/C a real waste, and the owner charges for electric use.
- The development is near a mongrove swamp, so there are a LOT of mosquitoes as soon as the sun goes down.
- You need to spray the bedrooms before bedtime each night to kill bugs.
Overall, it was a great place during the day, but as soon as the sun goes down, the bedrooms fill up with mosquitoes and things go south.
We loved staying in Sarah's villa in Cotton Bay. It had all the amenities we needed for a great family vacation. The villa offered a nice breeze and was very close to the pool and beach. The villa was in a nice quiet setting, with a lovely private dipping pool, and only a short drive to Rodney Bay for more activity. The locals down the beach were very welcoming and Marjorie's offered terrific food and drinks. There was a beautiful hike from the end of the beach along the Atlantic waterfront, giving gorgeous views of the water and cliffs. We loved our vacation on St. Lucia!
This villa was awesome. The right amount of space, amenities and your own private pool. The location is ideal for exploring all that St. Lucia has. Within the property there is also a pool and toddler pool - and you can walk to the beach in 2 minutes. The beach location is nice with lounge chairs. We went to a bonfire during the full moon and hiked the nearby cliff. Breathtaking. We also rented a car and could get to Rodney Bay, Pigeon Island, Smugglers Cove within a 10-15 minute drive. Highly recommend renting from these wonderful folks.
We just returned from 1 week at the Cotton Bay Villas and couldn't be happier with our decision to stay there. The unit is beautiful, three stories with a roof top deck, lots of natural light, comfortable furniture and beautiful furnishings. The bedrooms are all air-conditioned, and the main living room has a ceiling fan.The condo has a lovely splash pool in the back that is full sun for most of the day, outfitted with comfortable loungers and an umbrella. The kitchen has every thing that you may need for your stay, including a washing machine and dishwasher. The unit is a 1 minute walk from the Olympic size swimming pool and only a few minute walk from Cas en Bas beach. Because of the seaweed that has infiltrated much of the Atlantic Ocean, we didn't spend much time on Cas en Bas beach, but the condo is only a 8 minute drive from Rodney Bay, which is absolutely spectacular. I loved that we were only a short drive from all that Rodney Bay had to offer with the shops and the restaurants, but then within minutes we were back home at this lovely sanctuary. Please note that hydro is metered and you are charged at the end of the stay for your consumption, which comes at a fairly hefty price, so be aware of how often you're running the air conditioning and washing machine. Don't hesitate, it is just as nice as it looks!
I went with my family at the end of July and we love the house! It is very comfortable, clean, equipped and it is located in a nice place. The pool is very cute and the weather sensacional. The complex has a big pool and it is nice as well. It is well kept. Ms. Anne, the person in charged, greeted us with a great smile and with some products for our breakfast, next day. The owner was very helpful and sent us the refund right away, without delay. Saint Lucia is a small island that struggle to survive, however, we did not have any safety issues, the natives were kind and we felt welcome.
Please understand that besides the house, the island is a third world country. Only one route/street/highway, many people walking, houses in very bad shape, etc. However, this is part of the learning experience, and I did not mind. My kids learned a lot and enjoyed the stay. The beaches in the island are great, clean and the blue is everywhere. We did parachute, scuba diving, and snorkeling. The change in the currency helps.
I will come back to this house again in the future, no doubts about it.
