We are located in a quiet residential neighborhood near the walking trails and greenbelt, and are very close to Downtown, shopping and restaurants.
This was our second year booking this property for a large group gathering. The bedrooms and bathrooms had plenty of room. The property had great space to socialize, eat, play board games, and relax in private bedrooms. The best part was the location - close to grocery, shopping, and downtown. The price was perfect! MY ONLY SUGGESTION is to stop by the grocery and pick up some toilet paper. With 16-20 people, you know you'll need to restock during the week. WE'LL DEFINITELY BOOK AGAIN NEXT YEAR!
We absolutely loved the location near the green belt. The house fit our needs and was wonderful for our family needs of 9 adults and 6 children. 2 washes and 2 driers and 3 refrigerators was came in very handy. Two major problems were 1) a downstairs door was attached by only 1 hinge and 2) both trash cans were overflowing right outside the downstairs door. That was pretty disgusting for a first impression. Otherwise the inside of the house was very clean and comfortable. I would stay there again if we ever go back to Alaska.
This house is everything it advertises. It's in a quiet, safe neighborhood with easy access to the main highway, two great grocery stores and the Chester Creek Trail. We were 3 couples and 4 singles in our family group, so the 7 bedrooms were perfect for us. We had plenty of space to play board games, congregate and cook together. The kitchen was well-stocked with plenty of glasses, dishes and nice pots and pans and two large refrigerators upstairs. A second kitchen and living area comprise the back two bedrooms downstairs. Laundry machines are in both areas. We very much enjoyed having a great home base to explore from.
The house had everything we needed. Plenty of room for everything and everyone. We really enjoyed the gas grills for having a Halibut feast for friends and family! Kitchen, big dining area and porch deck was great! I would recommend the house to any family vacationing together. Many sites, walks, hikes, stores, restaurants close!!!!! Our wedding was at the Alaska Native Heritage Center and this home was only 15 minutes away!!
House was clean, beds comfy and plenty of kitchen equipment, dishes, and utensils to be better than a home away from home!!
Reeda was always readily available to answer any questions or concerns before and during our stay. NO REGRETS in booking the Palmer House!!!!
The Thornton Family
13 of my siblings and their spouses stayed with me and my wife for a period of 5 nights/6 days. We absolutely loved the house. Very clean and well maintained. Saturday morning all of us had to get ready for a wedding in just a few hours. There was no line-up waiting for showers, makeup, etc. as the house has 4 bathrooms located throughout both floors. Even though our stay was for almost a week, most of us packed "light" as we knew there were two sets of clothes washers and dryers and they were used frequently. It was nice to arrive back home with a smaller suitcase packed with clean clothes. One of the siblings packed a box of laundry pods and that worked for all of us. It was also wonderful that there were three refrigerators, two on one floor, one on the lower floor, as we pretty much had one of the units dedicated to refreshments. There is a large grocery/liquor store which we actually walked to (about 10 blocks?) the first time and then just took a rental car the other times. Alaska does not have to be that expensive if you purchase some groceries and eat at "home" a couple of times a day. The kitchens (one on each floor) had more than enough of the place settings, silver ware, cups etc., plus 2 coffee makers and 2 grills. 14 of us could gather around the dining table for games, and there was also a 2nd dining table if you needed it.
The location is in a very "nice" neighborhood and the people living around our area were friendly and helpful about giving advice on good places to eat or things to do. The house is less than 3 blocks from a "green belt"...a wooded trail that is perfect for biking or walking. The same trail goes throughout the city of Anchorage and is connected to the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail, which is a must-do activity. We saw moose along the trail less than 10 walking minutes from the house. If you rent this house, I would strongly recommend renting some bicycles (there are rental places all over Anchorage) during your stay, if you enjoy easy biking. The trails are well maintained and wonderful to ride along.
We rented one car for all 15 of us and used a combination of ferrying people and taxis (it's easy to arrange pickups from the house). There is plenty of room to park off of the street for multiple cars.
The owner communicated regularly in the time leading up to our stay. The keypad lock worked great for all of us coming and going at different times. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat, my siblings would concur.
This house is exactly what we thought it would be and large enough for my whole family. We had one very small problem which was immediately handled by the onsite manager and we really appreciated it. We rented all 7 bedrooms and felt close to everything. We also appreciated the fact that the owner has 2 large dining room tables which sit 20 people!! Often VRBO's with a lot of rooms don't have this. This was the perfect place for my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary after our cruise that landed in Seward. THANK YOU REEDA!!
Located just a short walk to restaurants and shopping, this home is also convenient to the downtown area with restaurants, train terminal, small plane lakeport, and the Anchorage Visitor's Center.
