Very nearby attractions include The gorgeous Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, Mount Mitchell, horseback riding, white water rafting, tours of Biltmore Estates, Mining for gems and gold, fishing, hiking, Linville Falls and Caverns, shopping in the arts and crafts town of Black Mountain, restaurants, libraries, and much, much more! Yet, you would never believe you were that close to civilization. This cabin is surrounded by trees, and gorgeous views of the mountains. The setting is serene and restful to the max! All roads leading to our street are paved. The parking lot is gravel The house is not wheelchair accessible. We have had no problems with any members of our families or friends who have come up to see the house.

About Walter Bogumil

I retired in 2007 after 35 years of teaching at the University of Central Florida. My wife, is 'partially retired' as a forensic economist. We had intended to split our living between Florida and North Carolina but my wife's occupation did not permit us to do so.

Walter Bogumil purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Walter Bogumil chose Asheville Area

The area is secluded yet only a few minutes and about 3 miles from the Interstate 40. my wife is primarily responsible for the interior design and decor (much of which we brought back from trips abroad). The folks who clean our home do an outstanding job.

Beautiful, Spacious, and Tucked Away...

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautifully crafted home! It was decorated for the Christmas Season when I arrived. The location is just outside of town, but still close enough to pop out for some groceries or that forgotten item. I look forward to renting this Vacation Home again! Walter was great and gave us easy to follow directions and even gave me a Welcome phone call. Thanks :)

One of a kind mountain vacation

  • 5 of 5

Let me start by saying how truly special this trip was to the mountains. Our original cabin was cancelled unexpectedly while we were in route to the area due unexpected circumstances. We literally pulled over on the interstate and luckily

I was able to find this cabin. I called the owner Walter explaining my situation and he gladly was able to help. He saved our vacation and I cannot thank him enough! The cabin itself was a blessing in that it was very beautiful, well stocked, and very spacious. It has a real fireplace which is hard to find in a lot of cabins. It was also decorated for Christmas which really sealed the deal! We've already began to make plans to return to this cabin and to Walter, thank you again for everything.

Great Place to Unwind

  • 5 of 5

Myself and four girlfriends spent 4 days at this location and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We found it very accommodating and were very pleased. The home is well furnished and has everything we needed. It's location is convenient to area attractions and would consider staying here again. Walter was great to work with and answered emails or text quickly. Thanks for sharing your home in the NC Mountains.

Relaxing Getaway for the Entire Family

  • 5 of 5

The entire rental process was an absolute dream. Walter was very prompt in answering any questions I had, gave great suggestions for places to visit and eat and gave explicit directions to the house. The house was cozy and clean, the views were stunning, and we were just far away from everything to truly relax. The house is perfectly located, tucked in the mountains with views like you would not believe, but only about a 15 minute drive to Black Mountain and 25 minutes to Asheville, using the fire road of course. The upgraded kitchen allowed us to cook most of our meals at the house and enjoy a wonderful family dinner nightly. The log cabin was spacious enough for five adults and baby. Everyone had a space where they could sit and read, whether in the reading loft, living room, or on the amazing deck overlooking the mountains. Everyone again this was one of the best houses we have stayed in for a vacation. We are already trying to figure out how we can come back in the fall to see all of the leaves. Thank you Walter for opening your beautiful home to us and allowing our family to get together and relax.

Very nice

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed 3 nights in the new, very clean, very nice log cabin. The kitchen is modern, plenty of living space, nice sized dining room table. Bathrooms are small but fine. It is a bit hard to find, and further from Black Mountain downtown area than we thought. But it was nicely positioned to drive in multiple directions for hiking, visit to Asheville, National forest, Grandfather mountain. Blue Ridge parkway, Boone. We love the mountains of North Carolina and this house did not disappoint.
