About Walter Bogumil

I retired in 2007 after 35 years of teaching at the University of Central Florida. My wife, is 'partially retired' as a forensic economist. We had intended to split our living between Florida and North Carolina but my wife's occupation did not permit us to do so.

Walter Bogumil purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Walter Bogumil chose Asheville Area

The area is secluded yet only a few minutes and about 3 miles from the Interstate 40. my wife is primarily responsible for the interior design and decor (much of which we brought back from trips abroad). The folks who clean our home do an outstanding job.

GREAT HOME!!! Close to Asheville

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful wonderful home! A great place to rest and relax. Great rooms, loved the master bedroom, I probably could have crashed there for the better part of a day. The house is just minutes from Asheville, but situated in the mountains like you were a million miles away.

Walter's notes were perfect and put you at ease when sharing his home. Awesome kitchen. I love to cook, everything was there that I needed, though I did add a few seasonings to the spice cabinet.

Getting to the cabin is no problem, my phone GPS took me right in. We did use the fire road most of the time, its much easier and quicker to Black Mountain and Asheville.

My wife loved the house and was ready to move in!

Thanks Walter, for make your home available.

Very satisfied

  • 5 of 5

This review is a little late...

I rented this cabin to stay with some friends for a weekend. We loved it. It was very nice and clean and could accommodate a lot of people, although we only had 3 total. The notes posted around the cabin were helpful. The view from the back porch was gorgeous and exactly what we needed from our weekend retreat. We all agreed we would rent this cabin again if it's available for our next friend get-together.

The only negative part of the experience, which had nothing to do with the cabin and was really my fault, was that we had a little bit of a hard time finding it when we first arrived and on our last night, because we were stupidly relying on GPS. I recommend you stop and get a map.

Owner's Response: Sorry for the confusion, I discovered that even the local tax assessor has incorrectly marked the location of our street! That's why I provide a "step-by-step" set of written directions to our home. It is a strange situation but, this year I found that even my GPS agrees with the tax assessor (in error) so it's a good idea to print out my directions for a safe and easy visit.

A beautiful get away

  • 5 of 5

Great cabin to stay in.. The five of us really enjoyed our time staying. Having a fire place was really lovely, we enjoyed great walks, and the sound of the trains everyday. The kitchen was ok, the knives really need to be replaced or sharpened!

The beds were comfortable with extra linens!

Thanks for a wonderful Christmas Holiday!!

Owner's Response: HI everyone, I agree, but I don't know why knives get dull so easily at the cabin. Since they do I always sharpen the knife before use myself. There are several sharpening devices in the kitchen utensils drawer.

Best vacation cabin ever!

  • 5 of 5

This was without a doubt the most wonderful vacation property I have ever experienced! Pictures and description on the website were all accurate but it was even beyond description when seeing in person. Only when you walk in the door and throughout the home, can you see how spacious and comfortable are all the rooms, all beautifully and modernly furnished, with everything you could want provided in the kitchen. The property was extremely clean and well-maintained. The owner was extremely honest, responsive and helpful. He even went beyond his responsibilities in mailing to me a personal item I left behind. Black Mountain was our favorite choice of quaint shops and wonderful restaurants. This was my second visit to this cabin - I hope to make it an annual trip and would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Comfy Cozy cabin/home

  • 5 of 5

Our overall impression of this home was total comfort and 100% satisfaction. Very Clean and provided almost everything to make our stay enjoyable. (Don't forget aluminum foil, tissues, paper towels). Mostly, We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace. My husband is an old Boyscout! The weather was not cooperative so lots of time was spent inside the cabin with fireplace aglow and a bottle of wine.

A must visit----Black Mt Biscuit and Sierra Nevada Brewary in Ashville.
