This beautifully decorated log cabin is located on a rural mountaintop and surrounded by forests, laurel thickets, and many varieties of wildlife. Enjoy many outdoors activities such as hiking the Appalachian Trail, exploring the wild horse colonies of Grayson Highlands State Park (called the 'sweetest miles of the AT [Appalachian Trail]' by Backpacker Magazine, August 2007), or taking a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are stocked trout streams and many historical places in the surrounding areas to explore.
The kitchen is well equipped and all linens are provided. Relax on the big wrap around porches as dusk falls or as the sun rises over the crest and enjoy nature at its finest as the turkeys fly over the ridge, or the deer emerge from their resting places in the laurels. Don't forget your camera!

About Dianne Johnston
My sister and I live in two distant cities in North Carolina. We have always been great friends growing up, but owning this house together has made us even closer. We hope this house will bring your and your family closer together too.
Why Dianne Johnston chose Troutdale
My sister and I inherited this house from my mom and dad not long after they built it. We have some great family memories of this log cabin retreat, and hope you will soon too!
What makes this House unique
It is wonderful to get away from it all. If you are tired of the hustle and bustle of urban life, this is the place to come to rest and restore your soul. Our guests often tell us it is one of the most refreshing vacations they have ever had. We know it will be the same for you.

Very nice cabin close to Grayson Highlands and Mt Rogers
Just returned from a wonderful stay at this cabin. It was easy to find (GPS took us right there). The driveway was not a problem at all. There was plenty of room, extra linens if needed. The kitchen had everything we needed. We day hiked in Grayson Highlands, Mount Rogers, Appalachian Trail and Whitetop Mountain. Easy driving to the trailheads. We went into Marion one evening and ate at the Wooden Pickle which was great. I would highly recommend this cabin.
Exactly as described, everything worked beautifully including the Wifi
Very remote. House well cared for. Clear instructions
One of the BEST rentals I've had!
This cabin had everything we needed for our party of 10 for a Christmas get-away! Linda and her crew made everything VERY easy for us and the cabin was well-equipped and very roomy! This area is pretty remote and it was nice to be unplugged for awhile (be aware cell phone service is sketchy at best, but the cabin's wifi is FAST)! The price was VERY reasonable as well which was the icing on the cake! We hope to come back again to further explore this interesting area. Thank you, Linda!
The property was fabulous! The views and the house were both great.
My entire family enjoyed the house, the property and exploring the area. We had a great Thanksgiving and loved hiking in Grayson Highlands State Park. The house is very homey, clean and organized. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need, right down to storage containers. Having two kitchens made Thanksgiving dinner easy! We loved having the fire to play games in front of in the evenings. We would definitely stay again! Thank you for sharing your home with me and my family!
The kids loved it and we enjoyed the scenery and the House was great
Excellent weekend. This was a nice secluded spot with plenty of space to spread out for our group. We really appreciated the ability to sleep singles instead of every bed being for couples.
Two Sisters, Troutdale, VA is minutes away from many state and national parks with great fishing, amazing bike trails, and some of the finest hiking trails in the south. The changing of the seasons makes every day a new and different experience in these amazing mountains. Even though it is located in such a remote area, it is still very close to many urban attractions such as the Bristol Motor Speedway (1.5 hours), the Lincoln Theatre in Marion (.5 hours), and Galewinds Amusement Park in Wytheville (1 hour). Other Activities: hiking, exploring civil war historical sites
