Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful! We had a great time here, relaxing and enjoying the cottage and gardens. The cottage is beautifully presented with a kitchen that has everything, comfortable beds and lounge. The kids loved playing in the gardens and we enjoyed the terrace with beautiful sunsets and views. Jacques and Sandi are lovely hosts and the wine, cheese and homemade jam welcome pack was delicious. We visited the fortress at Chinon, Château de Rivau, Château de Brézé, Leonardo da Vinci's house at Château du Clos Lucé, as well as doing some great local bike riding with the family and horse riding at the nearby Château Marcay too. A great holiday and very enjoyable.

Owner's Response: Whilst we as adults have always appreciated the garden for its setting and the views it affords, it was great to see kids enjoying it as a space to explore, play and run around in. It's good that the parents managed to have a good time during their holiday also! Thank you for your comments.

Beautiful & peaceful

  • 5 of 5

We have spent 5 days in Ms and Mr Mesner's property in April. The house is absolutely beautiful, well maintained, nicely furnished. It is also very peaceful, an ideal place to forget about hectic lifestyle we are used to. We enjoyed the garden and the view very much, after a busy day spent visiting castles and Abbeys. Mr Mesner gave us a lot of insightful advice on places to see. It was a trip filled with history and wonder, reflected as well in the solid stone walls of the property.

Gorgeous property, perfect place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

Jacques and Sandi were gracious hosts and very accommodating. The Chinon area was a central location for touring around with most attractions about 30-60 minutes drive.Certainly appreciated the laundry facilities, BBQ and sunsets on the terrace! So much history on that property and general area to be experienced! You cannot go wrong here!

paradise on earth

  • 5 of 5

The location is superb--in the midst of wheat fields in rolling countryside with Chinon not far away. The rental was beautiful; it was decorated like a home and had a luxe kitchen and bathrooms. Outdoors you could sit on a wonderful terrace with terrific views. Jacques and Sandi could not have been warmer and more helpful. It was altogether a splendid place to stay.

Well appointed house, close to Chinon

  • 5 of 5

wonderful attention to detail in luxuriously appointed house- in particular bedrooms and bathrooms, and fantastically equiped kitchen ( sharp knives, copious table and glass ware in a rental house- amazing!)- beautifully clean .

Jacques & Sandi are wonderful hosts- great initial briefing of house and surrounding area- always available to answer questions, never intrusive, always responsive to needs/ queries. Great tips on places to visit, pre prepared food / wine outlets etc. Happily made washing machine/ dryer in laundry available for use .The house is 15 min drive from Chinon which covers all needs and 5 minutes from a " farmers co operative store with fruit and veg, + some basics .

Only downside (tiny problems really) - there is no where really close for fresh bread/ croissants in morning....we simply made do by buying the previous Eve and toasting if required... You can of course drive to Chinon- but we were generally going out for day so wanted to be on our way . Also, we had a lot of pretty cool overcast/ wet weather- so not really able to take advantage of lovely garden - which was fab on the 2 days we sat out- and being inside the house at this time of year ( May) with no heating ( quite naturally) was cold and rather dark ( small windows, and lots of creeper taking light) ... Fortunately there is so much to see and do in this lovely area we just went out!

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your comments. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and appreciated what we have done. As you remarked tha weather has been unseasonally variable. The sun has been unusually reticent and the shade provided by the vines consequently unrequired at a time when the shade and cool they provide is well appreciated. As a result we just let our guests adjust the heaters in the rooms as they wish but we can't do much about the missing sun!

Breathtaking Class Act

  • 5 of 5

Our group of four enjoyed the luxury of Domaine Le Cottage for one week, and we all wished we could have stayed longer. Located in a serene rural area, it is just a few minutes' drive to Chinon. So we found it ideal for exploring chateaus, abbeys and wineries during the day and then returning to the cottage's incredibly well-equipped, modern kitchen and putting together dinner there. Not only does the kitchen boast almost every device you could want, the appliances are new and top of the line, with an induction cook top (hob) and American-sized refrigerator. A washer and dryer, plus all laundry supplies are available on the premises, as well. The owners have anticipated their guests' needs and furnished an array of convenient supplies, as well as a welcome bottle of wine, cheese and other goodies. Moreover, the decor is exquisite, with careful selection of soothing, coordinated colors that are complemented by luxurious linens and incredibly comfortable beds. And all this interior beauty and convenience is in addition to the grounds that include a quiet patio for morning coffee as well as a raised terrace -- perfect for drinks in the evening -- that commands a long view of the surrounding countryside. The hosts are charming, helpful and gracious. A class act, in every respect. Of our three-week vacation in France, our week at Le Cottage was the most delightful.
