We have a separate utility room just off the kitchen area which has a washing machine and dryer and oil central heating which leads out to a large back lawn with garden furniture where you can enjoy a barbeque or relax after a day of touring. Caherciveen is just 1km from the renowned sandy (Blue Flag Award) White Strand Beach, this is an ideal place for children where swimming lessons are available during the summer months. There is also a harbour and pier where the locals swim. Both can be walked or cycled within 5-10 minutes. There are many historical landmarks to visit locally which Caherciveen is known for such as the stone forts Cahergal and Leachnabuile and Ballycarbery Castle.
Caherciveen also boasts many wonderful seafood restaurants, cafes, craft shops and traditional Irish pubs and enjoy the friendship of Caherciveen township.
Casting its shadow over the seaside town of Caherciveen is the Old Barracks Building. It's primary purpose was housing the Royal Irish Constabulary. Ballinskelligs Blue Flag Beach is well known for its fine gold sand and clear water where there is a Special Area of Conservation and Natural Heritage Area. There are two ruins, the 16th centuary remains of the McCarthy Castle and a 12th century Priory or Abbey with gravestones well worth viewing. ACTIVITES: Kayaking/Canoeing, Swimming/bathing, Windsurfing.
WATER SPORTS: are available for all the family with sports adventure centers in Valentia, Ballinskelligs and Derrynane.
