Purlear Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 5 Bedrooms, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

This cabin has it all! Sitting on top of 2.8 acres, it is in a very private location with nothing but silence around you. Enjoy the long range mountain views from the screened in porch or the oversized deck.

On this mountain, there is also a fishing pond, beautiful waterfull, hiking, and an outdoor pavilion with BBQ grills.

Area attractions include: Scott Kerr Dam Lake - 8 miles away, skiing in Boone - 20 minutes away and Merlefest and Applefest in Wilkesboro, only 8 miles away! Tweetsie Railroad is approximately 35 miles away from this cabin and if you want to get to the Blue Ridge Parkway, you'll only have to drive 7 miles north on 421 to hop on! Some of our favorite restaurants are in West Jefferson which is only 15 miles from the cabin. And don't forget the local Vineyards! There are 5 beautiful vineyards off of 421 including our favorite, Ralfadini.

Don't worry about steep curvy roads! This cabin is very easy to get to, driving only 8 miles west of Wilkesboro NC or 15 miles east of Boone NC off of Hwy 421. For those coming from Charlotte, our cabin is only an hour and a half away.

Ruffinit cabin is really not ruffing it! It is extremely comfortable with all the amenities from home including broadband internet. The cabin inside is constructed in beautiful tongue and groove yellow pine and has been furnished and equipped with everything you need for a great vacation. The pottery, pictures and knickknacks all go together to give you a very 'homey' feeling. You will love this cabin!

About The Owner

My wife and I live outside of Charlotte, NC. We have been married 4 years. I work in the financial world and my wife is a nurse. We hope that you find Ruffinit a warm and restful place for you and your family.

Why The Owner chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

We love the mountains! Buck Mountain was perfect for three simple reasons: View, privacy, and proximity to West Jefferson and Boone.

What makes this cabin unique

We love sitting in the screened in porch and drinking coffee. Buck Mountain is also a great place to hike. I usually go for long runs down to the waterfall and pond on the mountain. We are always grilling on the deck or finding a new restaurant to try in one of the many surrounding cities.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Sorry it took me so long............we hope to rent again!! All the girls absolutely loved it and still talking about the R&R!!

The scenes from the property were beautiful.

  • 4 of 5

The home was very beautiful. All the amenities were as described. The property was very clean. The house could have been a little more maintained. While looking for the boys toys under the beds and so forth we did run up on underwear, socks and trash in some of the dressers but overall the place was very well kept. We had a few problems with the Wi-Fi but the owner was so helpful and also the changed the code for the entrance and had to call but was very helpful to us. We took our 2 Great Grandsons and 2 Granddaughters and It is a trip that they will never forget. So much to do around the area if you look for it. Saw Grandfather Mountain and rode the Blue Ridge Parkway and did hiking while we driving on the parkway. Didn't eat out so can't say about any of the restaurants. We all loved the waterfall and the fishing pond. I would recommend this property to anyone. Thinking about going back there ourselves next year.

What can I say, but this place is AMAZING!!! Very clean, and maintained by owners. Owners are quick to respond to emails. Gorgeous from the front door, right through to the back door overlooking mountains upon mountains. This place has all the little touches to make you feel at home. You can tell once you walk in the door, that they love this place, and it shows because it is so well taken care of. Visitor Journal shows just how each renter has enjoyed their stays as I'm sure you will to.

Lounge in the living room, watching a movie, relax on the screened porch taking in the scenery, or shoot some pool in the downstairs area. We were amazed at all the things that was offered.

Far enough from Civilization that you don't hear the hustle and bustle, but close enough for a 15 min drive to the local stores. Boone is also a quick drive up the road, as well as Blowing Rock for other local shopping. This is just the place for a family vacation, or girls weekend, or just any reason to get friends together!!!

Seriously the pictures doesn't do it justice. You will sure to love it as my family did. We will return, and I've already got other family members looking to rent after hearing how much we loved it.

Owner's Response: Thanks Kevin for renting our Chalet and for your kind comments! We love it when people love our place and hope you can indeed come back again soon! We're making additions regularly - next time you come you will enjoy a hand made black walnut coffee table my son made plus some other decorative additions! Thanks again!

Great family cabin, lovely view

  • 5 of 5

"This cabin is the kind of house a regular guy would build for himself - it is very cozy and home-ish" - review from my 8- year old son.

My kids (ares 8 and 11) loved this cabin - they were so sad to leave! It has a great porch with a wonderful mountain view.

I would not recommend it for families with toddlers/ crawling babies or people with mobility issues because of all the stairs. It is great for families/ groups with older kids or no kids.

Nice view, clean,well equipped kitchen

  • 4 of 5

Had a great time. Beds were comfortable and the cabin was clean. We used the kitchen and it was well equipped. The only down side was the many steps from the parking area and the front door. It was difficult for us (grandparents) to maneuver the luggage and cooler up and down the stairs. Not the best place for anyone with mobility issues. If this is not an issue for you then I would recommend this cabin. The pool table was a bonus we enjoyed.

Stunning Views!

  • 5 of 5

My bridesmaids and I stayed at this cabin the night before my wedding and then my husband and I stayed there the night of our wedding. We had a wonderful time! Breathtaking views! Richard was very accommodating to our needs throughout the entire weekend and helped make our stay a weekend we will never forget.
