A Great Escape is well laid out, but it was very dirty. Before I rented it for our vacation, I read a review dated Aug 2014 on VROB that described it as “dirty and poorly maintained,” I talked to the rental company to question the condition. They assured me that there was a “deep cleaning” that took place and took care of the issues. We found all the same issues, plus some. This house is not worth the price of $5,150. The pictures on the web site are very old because the furniture looks nice and the kitchen clean. The arms of the couch are down to the padding and very dirty. The curtains were broken over the beach doors. The kitchen was poorly equipped and dirty. The cabinets and inside the drawers were very dirty and grimy (I have pictures). The refrigerator did not cool well (I was worried about our food) and the icemaker did not work. They only gave us 1 dishtowel for the kitchen. The TV in the living room was old and the picture and sound was bad and distorted. All the bedroom carpets were badly stained and dirty. The beds were uncomfortable. There were no blankets in the house, and the bed comforters were very dirty and too heavy to use. The 1st floor A/C did not cool the whole 1st floor; so some bedrooms were very warm. The bathrooms were dirty. Two toilets had yellow rings around them on the floor that could have been cleaned. There was mold in the showers that could have been cleaned, and the one shower curtain smelled like mildew. There were no hangers in any closet. Some bathroom towel rods were coming off the wall. Some lamps were broken or had no light bulbs. I cannot recommend this property to anyone. The people at St. George Vacation Properties were always very courteous, but I was completely misled and I am very disappointed. I would like some explanation!
This place is very large and has lots of bathrooms that all work well. All appliances in the kitchen worked well. The Internet worked well. The primary problem with the place is how dirty it was. The outside needed some power washing and the tubs and showers needed more attention. Also, the beds were very uncomfortable and even though it sleeps 20 there were only 5 coffee cups. It was interesting to see who got the cups first every morning. They only give you one dishtowel for the sink so bring your own. One bedroom was very hot all the time even though the air conditioner was set low. The walkway out to the beach was nice and had no splinters. However, there was only one guardrail and we thought it was very dangerous to walk with only one guardrail on a walkway that was so high off the ground, especially with a young child. The furniture in the living room was torn and the curtains fell down three times. The combination lock never worked well. The hose to clean your feet outside needed to be replaced. It had numerous holes in it. There were rotten and moldy railings everywhere outside. The light fixtures on the porch looked as though they had never been cleaned. I would recommend this house for a fraternity, but not a family. We will not be staying here ever again!
Just leaving this rental today and totally loved it! After several years of St. George rentals this Is the BEST yet! Plenty of room and the perfect setting for another year of making those family memories. Fished until sunset without even leaving the property. "A Great Escape" will be our destination again!
