Perfect location, plenty of space
We loved the location. The harbor view is fun--you can watch the ferries come and go. And it's just a quick walk to stores and restaurants. You can even access the network of hiking trails that weave all over the island without moving your car.
The local contacts are incredibly helpful. They picked us up at the port when we arrived and gave us an orientation on the nuances of the property. They also brought us clean sheets and towels once a week and were available to answer questions.
This isn't a complaint, just an observation. The furniture and bedding is all fine--but pretty basic. The beds are fine--but could be more comfortable. If you're looking for luxury this isn't the place for you.
Also, the unit is above a restaurant that has live music on weekend nights. Some nights, we loved this and once or twice we shut the windows for quiet.
Many thanks for staying with us and your nice review of our holiday home. We are delighted you liked your stay and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again in one of your future trips.
The property 'Irish Mist' is a lovely, well positioned apartment to enjoy Tinos Town and harbour.
We loved the views from the balcony and enjoyed watching the the boats, ferries, etc. Going to and fro beneath beautiful sunsets. The apartment was clean and comfortable and Mary was incredibly helpful in making sure our stay was pleasant and enjoyable.
Many thanks for your kind review of our property, much appreciated. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you in one of your future trips.
Truly a spacious seafront property!
The house is large, bright, cean and very comfortable. It is in a great location; a 3 minute walk to the post office and supermarket and only a couple more minutes to the whole town and port. But it is still in a quiet area.
We loved sitting on the balcony and watching the world go by.
We were welcomed and well looked after.
We would whole-heartedly recommend this for a delightful holiday.
Many thanks for your lovely comments. We are looking forward to the opportunity to welcome you again in one of your future trips.
We were warmly welcomed from the ferry by Roxanne's husband, as advised by Mary, and taken to the apartment. The apartment is spacious and well presented and as indicated on the photos has wonderful views across the harbour. There was bountiful amounts of wine in the fridge along with fresh fruit and water which were all very welcome. Throughout the initial contact Mary was very prompt and helpful with communication. Tinos town is lively (but not raucous) with plenty of places to eat and a supermarket within 5 minutes walk from the apartment. The locals are very friendly and most speak enough English to be understood (rather embarrassingly our Greek is appalling!) - most restaurants have English versions of the menu. We took a coach journey one day which took in most of the sights around the island and we were able to get off and spend time at a number of destinations. Car and moped hire are plentiful if you choose to explore independently. Beaches and snorkeling were a little disappointing - the nearest beach is very stony and, I'm told, as I don't snorkel, there weren't many fish and interesting things to see (from my 11 year old daughter), although it has to be said that the sea is beautifully clean and safe to swim. A sandier beach was about a 15 minute walk from the apartment. The equipment in the apartment was adequate and functional for what we needed. Air conditioning was very welcome.
Fabulous. Roxanne picked us up from the port .
White wine and fruit awaited us in the fridge . Apartment was lovely, at times a little noisy from
Views fabulous. Short walk into the town for dinner . Bus routes to beaches were great.
A lovely week wish we had stayed longer .
Confortable, well appointed, excellent location with wonderfulf views out over the harbour to Syros
The property, Irish Mist, provided myself and my wife with a very comfortable and relaxing holiday in Tinos. It is located within a 5 minute stroll from the centre of Tinos (Chora). It had a spacious veranda with spectacular views over the harbour and Aegean with the Island of Syros in the distance - amazing sunsets viewed from the veranda every evening.
Roxanne met us at the Ferry Port on our arrival and drove us to the property and explained all the facilities, the "Welcome Pack" was very much appreciated especially the chilled white wine. She pointed out the location of nearby tavernas, shops, supermarkets etc. There were three tavernas/restaurants literally just across the road from the property.
We hired a car from Vidalis who were very helpful and reasonably priced. This enabled us to explore many of the remote parts of Tinos and we found some wonderful secluded sandy beaches and many very quaint villages to explore on foot.
The weather was excellent with blue sky every day and temperatures of 27-30C - the air conditioning in the bedrooms was very welcome.
Tinos in mid September provided us with a very quiet and relaxing holiday with very friendly and helpful local population. Perfect for sight-seeing and just lounging about on the many beaches.
The house is situated in the quiet outskirts of Tinos Town, with the beach and all amenities within very short walking distance. Beautiful sunsets and magnificent views of the coast-line and the Aegean sea all the way to Syros Island, can be enjoyed under the pergola of its large South-facing Terrace.
Fresh fish and traditional Greek dishes are served in the near-by restaurants. Fresh bread and pastries are available from the local bakeries every morning. Tinos town is full of life with many restaurants, shopping streets, paved medieval alleys, traditional coffee shops, bars, and plenty of nightlife for all ages. All within short walking distance from home.
Apart from the numerous beautiful beaches, several cultural sites like the impressive Cathedral and the Cultural Centre in Tinos town, the marble art museum in Pyrgos, the old Ursuline convent in Loutra, the sculpture exhibition and the home of the famous sculptor Halepas, are well worth a visit. - There are also folklore museums in many of the villages, which exibit traditional artefacts related to the Cycladic culture. - Several popular summer festivals, which are held in the main squares of the villages, offer a warm welcome to everybody with traditional music and dance, as well as complimentary wine and snacks.
Here in Tinos the culture meets tranquillity and fun, under the blue sky, the sun and the fresh Aegean breeze. The refreshing blue waters of the countless beaches and coves that ornate this beautiful Island, are all awaiting to be explored, with breathtaking views while getting there. You will find little taverns and seaside restaurants offering fresh fish and traditional Greek dishes everywhere you go and the prices are great too!
The home of many famous Greek poets, painters and sculptors, Tinos is often called the 'hidden jewel' of the Aegean and there is a good reason for it. Not affected by mass tourism, the Island has retained its original Greek Cycladic authenticity that is open to be explored by the visitor.
Coach trips around the Island as well as boat trips to the Islands of Andros, Syros, Mykonos, Delos, Paros, Naxos and Santorini, are available on a daily basis throughout the summer.
