Great host. Good access to transportation. Compact but complete. Used savings to travel and tour.

Luca was a great host, walking us between train station and apartment upon arrival and departure. Don't be fooled by his photo on the website where he looks like he could be a bit of a character. He is actually a gentle and kind man. The apartment is as described but you should know that 40 square meters isn't very big. That said, it had everything we needed for our 2 week stay. We made good use of the fridge to stock up on cold drinks. The washer/dryer worked well. TV had a couple of channels in English. Some maps were available. The couch/bed was a bit tough on a bad back so we usually lined up the pillows on the couch and slept on them. Maybe there was additional bedding available in the drawers that we didn't hunt for but that might have made sleeping on the couch a bit easier. It did have one of the neatest clocks I had ever seen. I would wake up in the middle of the night or early in the morning in advance of my phone alarm and there was the time projected onto the ceiling. The neighborhood was clean and safe; the building was secure. There were bus stops just up and just down the street. You can buy your bus daily or weekly passes at the tabacchi just up the street and the 44 bus comes by frequently. You can take it to the other end of the line (30 to 45 minutes depending on time of day) which is just a block away from Vittorio Emmanuele. We could get to any attraction from there. With about a 10 minute walk, we could go east down Baffi, underneath a bridge (for the train) and get to Via della Magliana where there were several more bus options including the 128 that got us right to a stop on one of the subway lines. The wi-fi was very dependable.

It isn't luxurious but if you want luxury you won't be looking in this price range anyway. We saved about $600 over our next best option and we used the money to travel and tour. The low price allowed us to take day trips to Florence and Venice and an overnight trip down to Napoli, Sorrento and Positano for a two day trip. We stayed overnight in Napoli but didn't care about the double booking because the price in Rome was low and we could pack light for the 2 day trip.

My wife is not as forgiving as I and she would agree with one of the other guest comments that Luca needs to take a vacant day somewhere and do a deep, deep cleaning.

We enjoyed our stay, the apartment served its purpose and the price was right. Thanks Luca for you kindness.

Compact & not quite clean

  • 3 of 5

Luca is super nice & was very kind in greeting us & walking us around the neighborhood to show us where things were. At first glance, the apartment was fine, however, once settled in we realized it wasn't that clean. We had to clean out shower drain( full of hair & gunk) to get it to drain! Hot water tank is small, so had to take what in the US are called "navy showers" which means you wet down, turn water off, soap up & then turn water back on & quickly rinse off. The flat would benefit with a deep cleaning after every tenant leaves. It did have a washer/dryer which was great, although there was a lingering odor we could never find the cause of & get rid of. Location is good as far as buses & trains. Takes about 35 minutes by bus to get into ROME center. Some days the bus doesn't pick up in Rome center for 1-1.5 hours though, so patience! The neighborhood is not picturesque, but we found a few eateries & markets where people were very nice. Our one complaint is that we left early & gave a 12 day notice of our early departure. We thought that would give Luca time to list the flat on VRBO & possibly fill in with another renter so we could get a partial refund, but he refused. Said to not ask for money back. We did get our cleaning deposit back which since We cleaned the flat & drains I would certainly have expected! Overall, good location in a quiet neighborhood with great bus & train access.

Excellent

Luca was an exceptional host.

He met us at the trains station despite our late evening arrival around 10 PM. He also was very willing to meet us early in the morning for our departure at 5 AM.

The room is cozy. It has all the comforts of home for a great price. Wifi was extremely fast! If you are on vacation like we were you will probably spend most of your time walking throughout the city. The bus ride from the apartment can be anywhere between 45 min and 1 hr which can be a little long you may want to take the train by which costs 1 euro for each ride to the metro station where you can get anywhere in the city. Cost to the airport was 8 euro.

Everything good like described

  • 5 of 5

We were welcomed immediately by our host and made very welcome. The apartment was exactly as listed: have all needed equipment's, the bed is good, maybe location little far from center, but is quiet and have all needed shops near, bus station too. Thanks Luca, for great trip.

Fantastic option in a diverse neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a fantastic stay in Luca's apartment. He was the most considerate host we've met. Though the place is small, his heart is so big that we are glad to recommend it to anyone visiting Rome! The apartment is extremely clean, modern, and fully-functional. It's location near a beautiful park, the train station, and a bus to the old center made it very convenient. We really enjoyed our stay. Thanks Luca.

Accueil chaleureux

  • 5 of 5
