Ideal for families, couples and/or fishing fanatics. We offer the Best of the Abacos - luxurious fully furnished rental homes with private docks on an inlet in the Hope Town Harbour. We are close enough to town for all the conveniences the settlement has to offer, including restaurants, grocery stores, and gift shops, but yet we are far enough away to enjoy a peaceful and private setting. Head out in a rental boat to explore neighboring islands, walk a pristine beach, snorkel our spectacular reefs, visit the historical lighthouse and museum or take a charter and go deep sea fishing with the Legendary Bahamian fisherman, Cap'n Robert Lowe. Relax at the end of the day in the comfort of the centrally air conditioned home, in the fresh water swimming pool, in a hammock on the screened porch or dock, or stroll around the gardens and orchard. The homes are immaculate and we pride ourselves on the personal attention given to make your dream vacation extra special. The 3 bedroom/2bath home, known as Gully's Ridge can accommodate up to 7 people. If you have a larger crowd, rent the 2 bedroom/2bath home on the adjacent property, known as Gully's Nest, which can accommodate up to 5 people. Come enjoy the islands with your extended family or group of friends in one private setting. It is nice to be able to travel together, but great to be able to retire to your own space if desired. Come on down to see us! We are sure you won't want to leave!
We are a unique couple, my husband, a native Bahamian and I am a SC transplant who visited the islands many years ago and fell in love with them. Eventually I met my soul mate, an islander, who is also known as one of the best fishermen around and I was lucky enough to catch and marry him. Together we've raised 2 fine sons and built our rentals homes on a secluded piece of land, close to the Hope Town settlement. This special piece of paradise is a hidden treasure in the beautiful Abaco islands and we are proud to share it with you.
We are close to the Hope Town settlement, so it is convenient to get to any necessities, but yet, we are far enough away to get away from the noise of the settlement and for you to feel like you are in your own peaceful and private sanctuary. Elbow Cay/Hope Town is also centrally located in the middle of the Abaco chain of islands, so you can easily take a day and go north to explore and then head south the following day to see all the beauty these islands have to offer.
We are in protected waters of the Hope Town harbour, so there is safe dockage for your boat or a rental boat. We are unique in that we offer a little more adventure than most of the rental homes on the island. Anyone can rent in the settlement and walk out their door to the store, but why not add a little adventure in your life and a story to tell your friends of how you got into a small boat and went thru the harbour to go shopping. Not only that, but you ate fresh fruit from the gardens/orchard of the vacation rental home where you stayed. That's not something everyone can talk about when they return from their vacation so come and enjoy a new adventure of our blended Southern hospitality....Bahamian style.
We stayed with Karen (attentive to every detail) and Robert (master of the sea) for 3 wonderful months. You couldn't find a better place to stay. The property is across a canal from the main road and comes with a small boat so it's easy to get around and so peaceful and quiet in the evenings. There's nothing lacking in the house. If anything is missing or not operating properly, Karen and Robert will fix it right away. Our fishing trip with Robert was a "bucket list" experience as we caught 8 HUGE mutton snappers. Robert would bring us home grown grapefruit and oranges frequently. His fish locker provided all the lobster we could eat, caught by Robert himself. Karen and Robert exemplify the BEST of Hope Town, -- decent, honest, hard working people, -- admirable and awesome in every way.
This was an unforgettable vacation for our family. The house is practical, clean and cozy. The grounds around the home are fragrant with native fruit and the dock was perfect for coming and going on our daily adventures. The Lowe family took fabulous care of us and gave us so many tips to make the most of our stay in Hope Town. They have a true passion for their slice of heaven that they call home and will make sure that you have he best experience as well. I hope to get back there soon!
My husband and I absolutely loved every minute of our stay at Gully's Ridge. This was our first visit to Elbow Cay and we look forward to many more. The accommodations were perfect. Pluses we did not have at stays on other islands included an excellent selection of paperback books, a dishwasher, an ice-maker, a 13' Whaler and water access! While my husband loves to fish, I love the water in the Bahamas! We were both thrilled when we chartered a fishing trip with the best fisherman in the Abacos, Cap'n Robert Lowe. The water was an amazing blue/green and crystal clear. The fish were biting. I've never caught so many fish. We feasted on fresh fish five out of the seven nights of our stay. Robert and Karen Lowe were the perfect hosts, sharing tips on places to go and things to see. The beaches on Elbow Cay are beautiful; the shops, museum and art gallery full of local stories and kind generous people. Don't miss the Elbow Reef Lighthouse. Admission is free, and we easily climbed the 102 steps to the top for a panoramic view of the island. The history of the Lowe Family and 'The Plantation' intrigued and added to the gorgeous surroundings. Thank you Robert and Karen for sharing your world!
We greatly enjoyed our stay at Gully's Ridge. The house is beautiful, extremely clean and very comfortable for a family. The use of the 13' Whaler was a wonderful accommodation and allowed us to safely and easily transit around Hope Town's harbor. Karen and Robert are friendly and gracious hosts and worked to make us feel at home. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a nice getaway.
nice quiet, clean, good dock, with water, salt, and fresh good for fishermen.Middle of a fruit orchard/garden with a nice pool.Karen helped with the golf cart unloading and loading. Also taking us to the ferry dock for departure. The little boat was great for a quick trip to store or harry hour at captain jacks. The house was a good fit for three couples with plenty of room in the kitchen living room. Will try to stay there again.
The property is beautiful. The house is extremely clean and well maintained. Karen, the owner, picked us up at the ferry and brought us to the house. They helped in any way they could to ensure we had a wonderful time. When I first arrived I was a bit scarred of falling into the water. By the second day I was moving much more freely in and around the boat, and no I never fell into the water. Hope Island is a beautiful place, it's a must see again on my list.
If you love the warm Caribbean climate, turquoise blue water, beautiful beaches, coral reefs and fresh seafood, this is a place like no other. The Abacos are bountiful with all these attributes and more. Come see for yourself why one visit will make you long for many more.
